Apple is hosting its ‘Welcome Home’ event on October 13 in New York, and several exciting product launches could be on the cards. From the rumoured HomePad smart home hub and HomePod mini 2 to a refreshed Apple TV and new smart home accessories, here’s everything Apple could announce.

Apple Welcome Home Event

The Cupertino-based tech giant is all set for another round of product announcements on October 13 as the company launched its iPhone 18 Pro series last month. Named 'Welcome Home', the coming event will be held in New York and will probably center around the smart home ecosystem of the company. While the company has not announced anything officially about its plan of product announcement, there are various reports that indicate the launch of some of the following products, including a smart home hub that will come with a touch screen display, a new version of HomePod mini, and a new version of Apple TV set-top box.

As per the reports of Bloomberg's managing editor, Mark Gurman, Apple will probably launch a bunch of new home-focussed devices as the company tries to solidify its footing in the smart home ecosystem. Apart from the above-mentioned devices, there are rumors of other smart home accessories being launched by the company along with some other manufacturers, such as LG and Schneider Electric.

Apple HomePad Could Be the Star of the October 13 Event

One of the most promising products anticipated to make an appearance at the 'Welcome Home' event is the rumored Apple HomePad, which is a smart home hub equipped with an integrated display. The HomePad is said to be developed in order to function as a central control device for home appliances, unifying the functionality of smart home management, communication, entertainment, and features offered by Apple's artificial intelligence technology.

According to rumors, the HomePad is likely to include a 7-inch square display, an integrated camera, compatibility with Apple Intelligence, as well as a new operating system referred to as homeOS. In addition, the product may run on Apple's own applications, enabling the user to utilize important functionalities through the HomePad's display.

Another supposed feature of the gadget includes facial and voice recognition. That means that the HomePad will be able to offer personalized services such as music and videos depending on the user of the device. The HomePad becomes more useful for people who live in one household and have a single smart home network in use.

It seems that the HomePad will depend greatly on the next generation of Siri and artificial intelligence. Thanks to this, people can control connected devices and even access some data through voice-based commands and displays. However, there is still no confirmed information about technical characteristics of the gadget.

HomePod mini 2 and New Apple TV Could Get Faster Chips

Apple may have the opportunity to unveil the HomePod mini 2, a new generation of its mini speaker, at the October event. Although information about the new gadget is scarce, rumors indicate that Apple will try to make some improvements to its hardware rather than redesigning its aesthetics.

The upgraded HomePod mini 2 may boast improved hardware in the form of a faster processor and a number of other features such as improved processing of audio-related tasks and smarter interaction with the built-in assistants. Moreover, the new gadget may receive the Apple-designed N1 wireless chip, although this claim is yet to be confirmed. Apple Intelligence may also become one of the features of the HomePod mini 2.

There are rumours about the development of an updated Apple TV 4K as well. As in the case of the HomePod mini 2, it may have an improved processor to enhance the device's performance and responsiveness. It has been mentioned that the company can use the A17 Pro processor, which will be a significant hardware update for the product if implemented. Another expected feature of the streaming media device is the N1 wireless chip and improved AI functionality of the device.

Such updates will allow Apple to create a consistent user experience across all of its products related to the smart home and entertainment sphere. An improved version of the Apple TV will help users navigate and operate apps more quickly, while an advanced HomePod mini will provide a better interaction with Siri.

Apple May Introduce New Smart Home Accessories

Apart from the HomePad and enhanced entertainment accessories, Apple has a number of other accessories in the pipeline that could enhance its smart home range when created with the cooperation of LG and Schneider Electric. As per the reports, the list of accessories, which could be included, will comprise smart door locks, deadbolt locks, security cameras, and thermostats.

With the launch of these accessories, Apple will have made an important move towards the realization of its dream of becoming an effective smart home provider. At present, Apple provides access to accessories such as the HomePod and Apple TV, which can serve to control the connected devices.

A smart door lock could give users the ability to control their access to the house, whereas smart security cameras could help them keep an eye on the surroundings. The availability of these features would depend on the final product, supported integrations, and regions.

The established ecosystem of Apple could be one of the main pros of such accessories. Their easy integration with compatible Apple devices, including Siri and the Home app, could make them very attractive to those who already have an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or HomePod. But it is still unknown what of these accessories will be introduced during the October 13 event and what else will come next.

Apple Has More Products Planned for October

The ‘Welcome Home’ function could merely be one of the many events lined up by Apple for the month of October. More products will likely be announced by Apple in the coming days that will add more products to the already existing categories of smartphones, tablets, and computers from the company.

The rumored release of the Apple iPhone Duo (foldable phone) is said to take place on October 23. It is said to cost a premium price of about Rs 3 lakh in India, putting it in the category of an ultra-premium phone.

Furthermore, Mark Gurman is also speculating that Apple may release a touchscreen MacBook along with the upgraded version of the iPad mini by October 27. The touchscreen MacBook will mark a significant change in the line of laptops that Apple manufactures. Touchscreen MacBook will allow users to interact with Apple laptop through touch screen rather than through keyboard, touch pad, and macOS.

In addition to this, the upcoming iPad mini upgrade is expected to mark the changes in the line of tablets made by Apple. There are also rumors that the upgraded model of the iPad mini will be equipped with OLED display.

Should You Wait for Apple's October Launches?

For those considering buying a new Apple product, the next few weeks might turn out to be quite an exciting period. The October 13 event might bring some light on what Apple plans regarding the smart home segment, while the upcoming announcements of the MacBook and iPad mini could lead to some drastic changes to their existing product lines.

The appearance of HomePad, new HomePod mini, and the new Apple TV might mean that Apple is planning to make its ecosystem play a more prominent role in people's home lives. Such smart accessories as smart locks, security cameras, and thermostats could become additional options for Apple's approach if these rumors ever come true.

But it should also be noted that there are still many uncertainties regarding the products described above. For example, Apple did not confirm the full list of products for the October 13 event, the technical parameters of the aforementioned devices, or the release dates of all products mentioned in recent rumors.

Right now, the 'Welcome Home' event is set to become a noteworthy event in the context of Apple's ambitions in the smart home segment.
