Enhancements make traveling with iPhone more seamless and efficient.
At WWDC 2025, Apple announced major travel-centric upgrades to the Apple Wallet app during the new iOS 26 update. The features are intended to streamline your traveling experience, make it more seamless, and simpler to coordinate whether you're boarding a flight or walking through an airport terminal.
Among the most important upgrades is adding support for digital passports. Apple has confirmed that with this new feature, users will be able to keep a digital copy of their passport inside the Wallet app. It won't replace a physical passport, but it can still be very useful in some circumstances. Such as, users will be able to use it for age verification within apps that need age confirmation or at participating TSA checkpoints when going through airport screening. This would be particularly useful to those who are yet to acquire a Real ID or need a digital duplicate for identification purposes.
Along with passports, boarding passes which have long been a staple in Apple Wallet are also being given an intelligent facelift in iOS 26. Apple is taking their role to the next level beyond merely appearing on the Lock Screen when boarding time is called. Now, boarding passes will include links to airport terminal maps, allowing passengers to easily locate gates, food courts, restrooms, or baggage claim after arrival. The improvement is intended to cut confusion and stress for navigating the airport, particularly at larger or unfamiliar terminals.
Another exciting addition is Wallet’s integration with the Find My app. When using a boarding pass that corresponds with luggage tagged using Apple’s AirTag, users will now be able to track the progress of their bags directly from the boarding pass interface. This makes it easier than ever to keep an eye on your belongings, providing peace of mind during travel.
Together, these changes demonstrate Apple's increasing emphasis on simplifying daily tasks such as travel. With iOS 26, the Apple Wallet transforms into more than a repository for digital cards; it becomes a tool that can be an effective travel companion.
