The long-running saga surrounding CyberLeek and the Grand Theft Auto VI leaks may finally be coming to an end. Following Rockstar Games’ latest GTA VI “Extended Look,” fans are increasingly convinced that the infamous hacker or hacking group has lost its ability to disrupt the game’s carefully planned rollout. Some players have even taken to social media to deliver a blunt “told you so” message as the search for CyberLeek continues.

Rockstar recently released almost 30 minutes of new GTA VI gameplay as part of its “Extended Look,” giving fans their most detailed official glimpse at the upcoming open-world blockbuster so far. The footage arrived ahead of the game’s planned November release and provided plenty of new details about Vice City, its characters, gameplay systems and overall presentation.

The official showcase is particularly significant because CyberLeek had previously attempted to interfere with Rockstar’s marketing campaign. Weeks before the latest official reveal, the hacker or hacking group released a substantial amount of alleged pre-release GTA VI gameplay footage online. The leaks quickly spread across the internet, forcing fans and Rockstar to deal with unauthorized footage long before the company was ready to reveal more of the game.

CyberLeek reportedly claimed that its actions were partly motivated by opposition to Rockstar releasing GTA VI as a digital-only title. However, the group's activities also raised plenty of questions among the gaming community. During its leak campaign, CyberLeek was reportedly promoting and selling a cryptocurrency, leading many fans to question whether the leaks were really about making a statement or whether there was a financial motive behind the operation.

Now, with Rockstar's official “Extended Look” having arrived, CyberLeek appears to have gone quiet. The X account GTA 6 Countdown declared that “CyberLeek is finished,” while claiming that the cryptocurrency associated with the group lost 96% of its value following the official gameplay presentation. The account also claimed that the group had made almost $270,000 through trading fees and that Take-Two Interactive was continuing its efforts to identify those responsible.

Those claims have fueled plenty of discussion among GTA VI fans. Some players argued that the situation demonstrates why supporting illegal leaks can ultimately backfire, while others accused CyberLeek of exploiting its own community for financial gain. The reaction suggests that at least some fans who initially followed the leaks are now far less sympathetic toward the hacker or hacking group.

There is still plenty of uncertainty surrounding CyberLeek, however. The group has previously demonstrated a willingness to release unexpected information, meaning it would be premature to assume that it has disappeared for good. Rockstar may therefore have to remain cautious as GTA VI gets closer to launch.

If CyberLeek does return, the question is what could possibly be leaked next. Major story details, the game's ending or even information connected to GTA Online could potentially become targets. Any such leak would be particularly damaging this close to launch, especially after Rockstar has finally begun showing substantial amounts of official gameplay.

For now, though, Rockstar appears to have regained control of the GTA VI information cycle. The “Extended Look” gave players a huge amount of legitimate gameplay footage, while CyberLeek's apparent silence has left fans wondering whether its controversial leak campaign has finally reached its conclusion.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar Games has not officially announced a PC release at the time of writing.
