DoorDash Down Today Thousands Hit by App Outage as Food Orders Fail Across the US

Thousands of DoorDash users across the United States were unable to place food orders after a widespread outage disrupted the app. Reports of login failures, checkout errors, and payment issues surged on DownDetector, while frustrated customers flooded social media as they waited for DoorDash to restore its service.

DoorDash Down

When you planned on placing your food order through DoorDash at around 6:00 PM on Sunday, you would probably have found yourself looking for another option. That is because there were several reports coming from different parts of the country regarding some major issues with this particular food delivery website, which prevented people from placing their orders, accessing the site, or completing the checkout process.

The issue first arose at around 6:00 PM when users started reporting the problems on the outage tracking website known as DownDetector. In just a few minutes, almost 6,000 users had already submitted their reports, making this food delivery website one of the most trending sites suffering from a problem in technology.

DoorDash Down

Based on users' experiences and feedback provided via DownDetector, it was discovered that most of the problems involved the DoorDash mobile app. A lot of consumers complained about being unable to login to the app, while some faced the problem of receiving error messages while ordering their food.

These error messages included "Something went wrong" and "Unexpected error, try again later," which made it difficult for users to make their purchases and left them in stuck shopping carts while attempting checkout.

The outage breakdown revealed that roughly 38% of the users had problems with the DoorDash app, while 17% had difficulties while placing their orders. The other part of users faced problems while paying and checking out from the app, even after choosing their meals.

No Official Response Yet From DoorDash

As of the date of this report, there has been no official statement by DoorDash detailing the reason for the outage and when service will be restored.

In addition, users have observed that the official customer support account of DoorDash on X (former Twitter) platform has failed to comment on the ongoing technical issues faced by customers. The lack of communication from the company side has further frustrated the customers.

It must be understood that outages of any significant online platforms tend to be solved within a matter of hours. However, there is no confirmed timeline available for DoorDash's restoration from the outage.

Social Media Fills With Hungry and Frustrated Reactions

As one would expect, this failure soon became a trending topic on social media platforms, with users sharing their screenshots of failed attempts, error codes, and humorous take on the surprising disruption.

One user said, "DoorDash is acting up. Am I going to have to cook for myself tonight? OMG."

Another user from Raleigh, North Carolina, wanted to know if there were others who were having trouble placing an order through their app because they were getting error codes even on different devices.

A few users said that the payments went through before any error code was flashed by the app, making it doubtful whether they have been charged or not without getting the order of food.

Some expressed their dissatisfaction with comments such as "DoorDash fix your damn wonky a** app. Im trying to feed my family," or "DoorDash what's happening?" as one user put it because "I'm hungry."

In a brief period of time, there were thousands of posts similar to those above posted.

One of America's Largest Food Delivery Platforms

DoorDash continues to be the biggest food delivery service in the United States, having about 56 million active users per month, while 60% of their clientele are in the US. Therefore, any form of disruption on the platform will certainly affect a large number of people in the country at once.

Given the huge customer base the company has, disruptions in service often trend fast when customers start wondering if the problem is with their personal computers alone.

What Users Should Do If DoorDash Isn't Working

In case you're still not able to log into DoorDash, there are a few things that you might want to consider doing until the company resolves the matter:

  • Go on DownDetector to find out whether other users are having problems too.

  • Restart the DoorDash app or refresh the page.

  • Make sure you've installed the latest update of the app.

  • Try logging in after a couple of minutes as server issues tend to be fixed in a matter of seconds.

  • Follow the social media pages of DoorDash to find out when the problem will be resolved.

In case the transaction shows up as successful but the order wasn't put through, it would be best to check your account balance after the issue is resolved.

The recent Sunday night DoorDash outage has resulted in many users being unable to fulfill their dinner plans due to the issues that have occurred on the site, ranging from login problems to checking out and placing orders. Although outages of such kind are usually sorted out rather quickly, DoorDash has not yet stated anything about why the outage occurred and when it will be over.

Unless an official statement comes from DoorDash soon, users might have to wait for the system to get back online or just go the traditional way of getting their dinner.
