Google’s Pixel 11 advertisements appear to feature an unannounced fitness tracker with a display, fueling speculation that a new Fitbit Charge model could be on the way alongside the Pixel Watch 5 and Fitbit Air.

There are speculations that Google might be launching another wearable device apart from the Pixel Watch 5 and Fitbit Air because it might have leaked an unannounced fitness tracker in the latest Pixel 11 ads. The device was spotted at least twice in Pixel 11 promotional videos, and it has a small display, giving it a semblance of a hybrid between the Fitbit devices that feature a screen and those that do not.
It is not yet confirmed whether this new tracker will become a commercially available device or not because it has not been formally announced by Google. However, it is becoming even more exciting because of the many leaks of the device in different ads, especially when one looks at its design and user interface.
Mysterious Fitness Tracker Appears in Pixel 11 Ads
The rumored fitness tracker was found in two ads for the Pixel 11 phone that have reportedly gone live on YouTube for a select few users. The screenshots from the ads, which showed Google’s next-gen hardware offerings alongside a mystery small wearable that seems like it could be neither a confirmed Fitbit nor Pixel product, were posted to Reddit.
In one of the ads, it is reported that two Pixel 11 phones and the Pixel Watch 5 are shown together in their Fog color options. In another promo video, the various green finishes available for the updated line of hardware from Google are showcased. But in both the ads, the mysterious fitness tracker can be seen.
The most exciting thing about the device is its display. It seems like the tracker comes with an elongated oblong screen showing a more simplified version of the interface from Pixel Watch 5. It implies that the device may be made in such a way as to provide some basic health and fitness data without being a complete smartwatch as Pixel Watches.
The device itself also seems like it has a rather small pebble-like body. Its form is somehow similar to that of Fitbit Air, a screenless fitness tracker by Google, but thanks to the presence of a display, it becomes quite similar to Fitbit Charge series.
Is Google Preparing a New Fitbit Charge?
One of the simplest ways to interpret this is to say that this could indicate plans from Google for a new Fitbit fitness band equipped with a screen. That could be the highly anticipated Fitbit Charge 7 because the latest Fitbit Charge 6 came out in 2023.
There hasn't been any official statement about the next generation of Fitbit products from Google, nor there have been any leaks to show a confirmation of Fitbit Charge 7 development. Thus, it seems like a hint at how Google is getting ready to release a new product for the Fitbit lineup.
It also makes perfect sense for the wearable strategy of Google right now since Fitbit is the brand name for Google's dedicated hardware focused on fitness, whereas Google's health software strategy has been put under Google Health. The next generation of trackers could help make the products of Fitbit more modernized with a device in between fitness bands and smartwatches.
Nonetheless, it is important not to mistake the unknown product as the confirmed Fitbit Charge 7 just yet. Google hasn't made any acknowledgment of this product and the advertisement itself doesn't seem to call this wearables by its name.
The Tracker Could Fill a Gap Between Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch 5
Provided that the enigmatic wearable is an authentic product, its positioning would be particularly intriguing. At present, Google has two wearables that cater to two distinct categories of customers.
Fitbit Air is based on the concept of a basic and screenless fitness wearable. Being stripped of any screen, the wearable can pay much more attention to health and physical activities of the user rather than distract them with various notifications and other kinds of data.
As for the Pixel Watch 5, this wearable is supposed to cater to the consumers interested in acquiring a full-featured smartwatch with a large screen and rich features.
A screen-enabled Fitbit wearable could fit the gap between the above-mentioned wearables. The wearable could provide its users with fast access to their exercise data, health stats, time and other essential data points while being simpler and more compact than a smartwatch.
It should be noted that the middle way is one of the key advantages of the Fitbit Charge lineup of devices. Thus, a new Charge wearable would complement Fitbit Air rather than compete with it.
Fitbit Charge 7 Could Be the Most Likely Explanation
One of the best-known product lines at Fitbit is the Fitbit Charge series; therefore, the most obvious conclusion here is that the advertised device is part of the new version of this series.
In case the device is indeed a new version of the Fitbit Charge series, it could feature a modernized screen along with the traditional slim fitness band design. Yet, again, all of these characteristics are purely hypothetical because Google has not officially provided any details about the device.
Another explanation is that the device may be an unreleased product or just a concept device designed solely for advertising purposes by Google. It is unlikely to be a mistake because of multiple appearances, but this alone does not mean that Google plans to release the tracker.
Fitbit Air Remains Confirmed for India
Whereas consumers in India looking for something more simplified will definitely appreciate the Fitbit Air in the meantime, since Google has already stated that the screenless fitness tracker will be launching in India in October, while the exact identity of the mysterious tracker has yet to be revealed.
The Fitbit Air may prove to be attractive for those who do not need notifications and would prefer a simple fitness tracking solution, but the Pixel Watch 5 would be more suitable in this case.
Should the mysterious tracker turn out to be another Fitbit product at all, it will be an interesting choice for Google in between the two.
Google Has Yet to Confirm the Mysterious Wearable
However, for the time being, the fitness tracker seen in Pixel 11 ads must be considered a tantalizing hint, rather than an already confirmed device. The fact that it appears multiple times, is equipped with a screen and is similar to Fitbit Charge devices has certainly raised a number of speculations regarding a potential new Fitbit tracker.
In case of the existence of such a Fitbit Charge 7, one must not forget that it comes at a particularly interesting moment for the company, especially when taking into account further plans of Google in terms of wearable and health tech ecosystem development. In case the device is real, Google may announce more information together with other hardware products, or at some other point in time.
For now, the Pixel 11 ads have certainly provided some enthusiasts with a preview of a wearable that has not been announced by Google yet.
