Nintendo Reveals Stunning Zelda Edition Switch 2 Ahead of Ocarina of Time Remake
Nintendo has shown off an exclusive Zelda-branded Switch 2 for The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary. It is available from October 29 before the release of Ocarina of Time remake on November 5.
Nintendo has revealed a new Nintendo Switch 2 themed on The Legend of Zelda in honor of the game's 40th anniversary, and it seems like a much better offering compared to a standard special edition console. This special version features colors such as gold along with metallic green, making the Nintendo Switch 2 look like an excellent Zelda-themed console. The release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be October 29, a week prior to the scheduled November 5 release date of the new Ocarina of Time.
This development comes amid Nintendo's reveal of its highly awaited Ocarina of Time remake to fans. Although the Ocarina of Time remake is one of the most highly anticipated releases of the franchise this year, it appears that Nintendo is using the opportunity to have an anniversary celebration for the entire Zelda franchise. The special edition of the Switch 2 is one of the highlights of this event, but fans will definitely be disappointed with a certain aspect of it.
Unlike the golden-colored Switch Lite which has been unveiled at the same time with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom in 2024, Nintendo has decided to go for the combination of gold and metallic green colors this time. According to Nintendo teaser, the Joy-Con 2 controllers have a reflective metallic color scheme which will reflect the light but it does not look too much shiny.
Moreover, the Joy-Con 2 controllers have several nice elements of decoration which are devoted to the history of the Zelda. In particular, the left Joy-Con controller has a Zelda sprite of Link character from the first 1986 version of The Legend of Zelda with Triforce in his hands. The back side of the right Joy-Con has its own tribute – there is a sprite of Zelda character.
The Switch 2 has also been given a dock that complements the concept of anniversary. The dock is made in black and gold color, and the Triforce logo is prominently displayed at the center. The black color dock with the gold finishing should make the entire system look premium once it is placed in its dock.
But one thing that should be noted by any person looking to play Ocarina of Time instantly once he purchases the console is that the Switch 2 with the Zelda theme does not have an Ocarina of Time game included in it. The game can be bought separately.
In addition, Nintendo has planned some matching accessories that will appeal to all the fans who want to complete their look. The company is going to sell a carrying case themed after Zelda with a screen protector, a Pro Controller and stand for the console matching it. All these accessories will be available from October 29 along with the special edition of the console.
The availability of the accessories may prove to be as tough as that of the console. Nintendo has stated that all these matching accessories will be available until supplies last, and hence, there would probably be a lot of demand from the fans of Zelda. As the franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary and Ocarina of Time has been re-released in the form of a remake, this would probably be one of the most coveted editions of the Switch 2.
Timing is absolutely perfect for Nintendo. The Switch 2 with a Zelda theme comes out just a few days before the debut of the Ocarina of Time game, giving devoted players the opportunity to combine a game franchise well known all over the world with the most recent gaming hardware created by this company.
