Nothing OS 5.0 Launch Date Confirmed: Expected Features, Eligible Phones and Beta Details

Nothing OS 5.0, running on Android 17, is all set to be announced on August 25 at 3:30 PM IST. Let’s take a look at all the details that we have on the device.

Nothing OS 5.0

As of now, nothing seems to be preparing itself to launch the next big thing about its software version that would be known as Nothing OS 5.0 that would be based on Google’s Android 17. Although the exact time of the official launch of this update remains uncertain, it is safe to say that the company has officially announced its release date.

It seems like the time has come when the world’s biggest manufacturers of smartphones are preparing themselves to launch the new Android 17 on their respective devices. On top of that, it also appears that the company has started working on its next software generation since it has invited selected users of Nothing Phone (3) to join its community review program.

Nothing OS 5.0 Launch Date and Time

Nothing OS 5.0 will make its official debut on August 25, 11:00 AM BST time which translates to 3:30 PM IST in India. Nothing has confirmed the same through a tweet where they have used the slogan “More joy, every day.”

It is believed that Nothing OS 5.0 will be launched at a virtual launching ceremony conducted by Nothing. This will be the first detailed insight into the upcoming version of the operating system and the changes that it comes with in terms of features, the design and the beta program among others.

However, it is worth noting that Nothing hasn't revealed any stable roll-out date for Nothing OS 5.0.

What to Expect From Nothing OS 5.0?

To date, nothing has prevented the company from disclosing all the information about Nothing OS 5.0, thus there is no feature list for it yet. Nevertheless, it can be guessed based on the teasing of the company.

The "More joy, every day" slogan might hint at the increased importance of personalisation and expressiveness of the interface. It seems that the company is going to add more widgets, new icons, and even some lock screen customisations. However, none of these features have been confirmed yet.

Moreover, one should pay attention to the animated gradients of various colors featured in the teaser. It shows that the company is working on something colorful for its interface, which might be interesting since it is the evolution of the minimalist design approach used by Nothing.

Additionally, Nothing OS 5.0 will include some features that were introduced with the help of Android 17. The company will integrate all the latest features of Android into its interface.

Nothing OS 5.0 Eligible Devices

Considering Nothing's software support obligations and past update policy for its flagship devices when it comes to major Android updates, a number of Nothing and CMF phones will likely receive Nothing OS 5.0.

Those smartphones include: Nothing Phone (4a), Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, Nothing Phone (4b), Nothing Phone (3), Nothing Phone (3a), Nothing Phone (3a) Lite, Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, Nothing Phone (2a), Nothing Phone (2a) Plus and CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Nevertheless, the above list is currently only presumed to be compatible with Nothing OS 5.0 and not confirmed yet. It is expected that the official list of compatible smartphones will be revealed by Nothing on August 25 during the new update announcement.

Nothing Phone (1) and Nothing Phone (2) cannot expect to get Nothing OS 5.0 since those smartphones have come to the end of their major Android software upgrades cycle promise. So does CMF Phone 1.

When Will the Nothing OS 5.0 Beta Start?

Not much is anticipated to roll out the beta programme of its Nothing OS 5.0 with some of its latest range of smartphones before widening the testing process to other compatible smartphones. The Nothing Phone (4a) line and Nothing Phone (3) are likely to be among the first to participate in the beta programme.

The company has already started preparing for its next phase of software through the community review program, which allows certain users to try and give their inputs on the next software experience.

The beta program will allow Nothing to find bugs and enhance performance before making the stable release of the new software to the market. The latter will thus take place after many phases of testing as opposed to straight away after the August 25th announcement.

From the announcement, there is likely to be more clarity regarding the plan Nothing has for Android 17. Apart from the software unveiling event, the company will provide more details concerning features of Nothing OS 5.0, phones that will support the operating system, as well as testing and roll-out plans.

For now, the company has confirmed the unveiling date while the stable version of the OS has not been scheduled. The Nothing smartphone and CMF smartphones owners, thus, will have to wait for an announcement by the company to know exactly when the software will be available to them.

With the arrival of Android 17, the company could unveil one of its most significant software updates as the new Android version sets the basis for future Android experiences. Nothing OS 5.0 could be exciting to Nothing smartphone owners due to personalisation and colourful visual design of the software.
