Best suited for users looking for strong battery life

OPPO launched a new A-series smartphone, the OPPO A6s 5G, in India on Wednesday. It is reported that this device focuses on battery life, performance, and camera capabilities within the mid-range segment. It features a 6,500mAh battery. The company claims that it can deliver up to 882 hours of standby time and up to 22.4 hours of video playback time. Additionally, it comes with support for 45W fast charging.
This new smartphone is available in two distinct colors and two RAM and storage configurations. The variant with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at ₹18,999, while the variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at ₹20,999. Sales for this handset have commenced on Amazon, Flipkart, the OPPO Store, and retail outlets, available in Aurora Gold and Plum Purple color options; the launch offers include a flat discount of ₹1,000 and a 3-month No-Cost EMI option.
The Oppo A6s 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which is suitable for daily use but not for heavy gaming or demanding tasks. However, it features AI GameBoost, which enhances the gaming experience on the smartphone, as well as AI LinkBoost 3.0, which provides improved connectivity in congested or low-network areas. Connectivity options include 5G, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and a USB Type-C port. It also features stereo speakers and includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. The handset comes with an IP64 rating, making it dust- and water-resistant. Additionally, the phone will ship with Android 15-based ColorOS 15, meaning it will lack the latest Android 16.
It features a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The company claims that this display offers a peak brightness of up to 1125 nits; however, at this price point, the absence of an FHD+ and AMOLED display is certainly felt. The handset has a thickness of 8.61mm and weighs approximately 212 grams.
The OPPO A6s will come with a dual rear camera setup, comprising a 50MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera; meanwhile, for selfies and video calls, it features a 5MP front camera an area where it falls slightly short. Additionally, it will offer AI features such as AI Portrait Retouching and AI Perfect Shot.
This is a good option for those seeking long battery life, as it promises to be a reliable phone for daily use. However, those looking for a superior camera and selfies or an FHD+/AMOLED display might want to consider other alternatives. Based on its specifications, this is a battery-centric smartphone; it would be advisable to wait for reviews before making a purchase.
