OPPO Reno 16 Series India Launch Nears as New OPPO Phone Appears on BIS Certification Website

The OPPO Reno 16 series phone is back in the news, but this time around, the news comes straight from India's official certification database. A new OPPO phone sporting the designation of CPH2865 is already available at the Bureau of Indian Standards certification website, clearly implying that OPPO may release its next OPPO Reno 16 series device soon for the Indian market.

OPPO Reno 16 Series

The BIS approval, received on 12 May 2026, does not reveal the commercial designation of this smartphone. Nevertheless, based on the repeated appearance of the said designation on the IMDA certification database of Singapore, it can be safely assumed that the OPPO Reno 16 series is connected to this phone. As far as OPPO is concerned, there is still no official confirmation about the commercial name of the device.

OPPO Reno 16 Series Certifications Continue to Surface

CPH2865, the recently uncovered device, fits in with other Reno 16 models that were recently leaked online. According to previous rumors, the model number CPH2863 was believed to be the upcoming OPPO Reno 16 Pro, whereas the model number CPH2859 was associated with the OPPO Reno 16F.

The presence of these multiple Reno 16 variants on the international certification platform indicates that OPPO is preparing for a wide release of its Reno 16 series beyond two smartphones. The CPH2865 variant could belong to OPPO's Reno 16 Plus or OPPO Reno 16 Ultra. Alternatively, it could represent OPPO Reno 16 models that would be released specifically for markets such as India and Southeast Asia.

BIS certifications typically occur close to the time of product launch, and OPPO is likely advancing toward product testing and approvals for different markets. While the details of the device are not known from BIS certifications, it remains an accurate way of identifying potential phone releases in India.

OPPO Reno 16 Series Expected Launch Timeline

According to recent leaks and insider news, the OPPO Reno 16 series may launch in China soon towards the end of June 2026. The global release of the series outside of China, including India, may take place anywhere between the months of July to August 2026.

The Reno series has become a major line of OPPO smartphones in the mid-premium category, especially in countries such as India, wherein the consumers seek flagship camera specifications, high-end design, and large battery capacity without going into ultra-premium smartphones.

Three smartphones have been confirmed in the OPPO Reno 16 series. They are:

  • OPPO Reno 16

  • OPPO Reno 16 Pro

  • A mystery third device reportedly referred to as CPH2865

If these leaks prove to be true, the OPPO Reno 16 series will definitely have something significant to offer over the Reno 15 series.

OPPO Reno 16 Pro Could Bring Major Performance Upgrades

Out of all the leaked gadgets, the OPPO Reno 16 Pro seems to be the most potent device in the series. Apparently, the phone is expected to carry a 6.78 inches 1.5K LTPO OLED display that promises smooth visuals with lower power consumption than regular OLED screens.

One of the most promising changes that the Reno 16 Pro will bring to the table includes the adoption of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chipset. It would be a considerable improvement from the Dimensity 8450 chip carried by the Reno 15 Pro. The new chipset should provide better performance in games and improve thermal management and background task handling.

Finally, one of the major advantages that the LTPO display technology provides is dynamic refresh rate adjustment based on screen content. In essence, it means that the display refreshes only when necessary, reducing power consumption without compromising scrolling and visual experience. Other competing manufacturers, such as Samsung and Xiaomi, have already made considerable efforts to implement LTPO technology in mid-premium smartphones.

Leaks further claim the Reno 16 Pro may offer:

  • Up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM

  • Up to 1TB UFS 4.1 storage

  • Premium metal frame design

  • IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance

These additions would position the device closer to flagship smartphones while still targeting the upper mid-range market.

As the large-screen models keep leading the sales, perhaps the ordinary OPPO Reno 16 is aimed at people who value a smaller phone without missing out on the high-end specifications.

It will supposedly come equipped with a 6.32-inch 1.5K OLED screen that will be easy to hold with one hand yet produce stunning visuals. This phone will allegedly come powered by the Dimensity 8500 chip from MediaTek, providing good performance when gaming and multitasking.

This approach will give OPPO an opportunity to reach those users interested in compact high-end smartphones.

Camera Setup Could Continue OPPO’s Imaging Focus

Camera performance is the main characteristic of the Reno series, and it looks like the Reno 16 series is likely to maintain that tradition.

According to the leaks, the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro will include:

- 200MP primary camera with optical image stabilization

- 50MP ultrawide sensor

- 50MP periscope telephoto camera

At first glance, it would seem like it is not much different from the camera hardware used in the Reno 15 Pro. In reality, though, there might be a lot of improvement done through software rather than hardware.

It all depends on how effective the new improvements will be and whether OPPO will manage to make the camera work better at night and while zooming.

Massive Battery Upgrade

Battery capacity may turn out to be one of the most convincing factors of purchase among those that will attract attention during the release of the Reno 16 range.

According to rumours about the OPPO Reno 16 Pro model, there may be an unprecedentedly large battery of 7,000mAh, which will mean an even greater capacity compared to 6,200mAh-6,500mAh for the Reno 15 Pro model. Even with such a large battery capacity, OPPO is likely to maintain its lightning-fast charging capabilities with:

  • 80W charging cable

  • 50W wireless charging

Such features will ensure excellent performance with minimal compromise on charging speed. Also, the standard OPPO Reno 16 model is supposed to feature 6,700mAh and 80W fast charging technology.

With users paying closer attention to battery life in their daily activities, including gaming and watching movies or working, it seems like OPPO is getting a huge competitive advantage here.

Expected Price in India

While official price information remains confidential, leaked information reveals that the Reno 16 series might be launched at a base price of around CNY 4,000, or approximately ₹54,000 in India.

Obviously, the pricing in India may differ due to taxation and other factors. However, the projected price range of the Reno 16 series is expected to position itself within the mid-premium category along with the Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, and OnePlus ranges.

From the leaks so far, the Reno 16 series seems to come with a number of notable upgrades across various aspects such as performance, battery, screen technology, and ruggedness. Users of the current Reno models such as the Reno 13 and Reno 14 series should consider upgrading to the Reno 16 series.

But for users of the Reno 15 series, they should wait until OPPO announces the price tag and other specs of the new model. This is because a lot will depend on the upgrades made by OPPO’s software and cameras. With the BIS certifications coming up now, the launch of the new Reno 16 series by OPPO could be just around the corner.
