POCO M8x 5G is launching in India on August 21 with a massive 7,900mAh battery, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, 45W charging and four Android upgrades with six years of software support.

POCO is making use of a different strategy while launching its upcoming M-series mobile phone, which is based on the combination of battery life and performance. POCO has shared quite a few aspects related to POCO M8x 5G before its release in India, which includes a gigantic battery, chipset, charging options, design and software update.
The upcoming POCO M8x 5G will launch in India on August 21 at 12 noon. This mobile phone can be purchased from Flipkart, and POCO will slowly start unveiling its features through its microsite on the e-commerce platform.
POCO M8x 5G Design and Colour Options Revealed
The M8x has been released by POCO in three color choices: Blue, Black, and Leather Green. The unique quality of the Leather Green version is the texture on its rear panel and a metal finish on the body of the phone that makes the device look more luxurious, even though it will most likely be positioned in the mid-to-affordable range of devices.
One of the distinctive qualities of the smartphone is the quad-curved body design that will ensure greater comfort during usage. The smartphone will also feature IP64 protection that is going to protect the device from dust and splashed water.
Wet Touch 2.0 technology has also been introduced in this device to make sure that touchscreen becomes more responsive when wet. In addition, the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Battery Is the Biggest Highlight
The most discussed aspect of the POCO M8x 5G is obviously its monstrous battery capacity which equals 7,900 mAh. POCO assures that this massive battery will last up to three days, thus the smartphone may become really interesting for those customers who prefer longevity to slimness.
According to POCO, the M8x is able to work up to 35 hours while browsing social networks, up to 27 days while messaging and up to 13 hours both for navigation and for gaming. Battery performance may differ from these numbers in real life because of different network conditions, display brightness and apps, however, it is evident that the long battery life is the key feature of the phone.
The smartphone has the 45W fast charging ability which means that you can charge the battery to sufficient level for a whole day of usage in about 30 minutes. The smartphone also offers the 22.5W reverse charging.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Powers the POCO M8x
Alongside its new 5G capabilities, the POCO M8x 5G phone is going to introduce Qualcomm’s new processor in the Indian market. POCO has officially announced that this phone will be India’s first device featuring Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor.
This processor is built on a 4nm architecture, and POCO has announced that its M8x phone can achieve more than 6,50,000 points in the AnTuTu test. Furthermore, according to the company, launching apps on the device will be 43 percent faster than previous models.
The maximum RAM on the POCO M8x 5G phone will be 12 GB, with 6 GB of virtual RAM, while its LPDDR4X memory along with UFS 2.2 storage will allow for smooth performance at a reasonable price.
Triple Cooling System Aims to Maintain Performance
Moreover, POCO is looking to ensure continuous performance as opposed to just targeting benchmark figures. The M8x has three layers of cooling mechanism, which include a 12,439 sq mm graphite layer, a 1,924 sq mm copper foil and 3.5W thermal gel.
This cooling mechanism has been put in place with an intention to assist in the dissipation of heat when running heavy workloads like gaming and media consumption. As per the manufacturer, the M8x phone has been optimized to run for 48 months lag free but this could be affected by other factors.
Six Years of Software Updates
Another essential factor about the POCO M8x 5G is its extensive software support. According to the manufacturer's promise, there will be four versions of Android OS updates and six years of software updates.
It may turn out to be one of the strongest features of the smartphone if POCO sticks to their update schedule. In an environment when consumers do not upgrade to newer phones as often as before, choosing a device with good software support becomes very important.
Together with the big battery capacity and the promise of 48 months of performance optimization, POCO seems to be developing a smartphone to last several years rather than compete on the day of release.
POCO M8x 5G Expected Price in India
At present, there is no official information about the price of the POCO M8x 5G. Yet, the price could play an important role in terms of the competitiveness of the new smartphone.
It can be estimated to fall into the category of price similar to the one of the POCO M8 Power, whose cost was Rs 24,999. In addition, it includes such components as Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset and 8,000mAh battery.
Although there were suggestions that the price could be set lower than Rs 20,000, it does not seem reasonable in view of the information about the technical characteristics. Indeed, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 is more advanced than its predecessor, while even the POCO M8 Power costs Rs 24,999.
Yet, POCO could take advantage of launching promotions in order to attract consumers. Thus, the price will define whether the smartphone can compete in the segment of batteries.
POCO M8x 5G Focuses on Battery Life and Longevity
With the POCO M8x 5G, it seems like the company is targeting customers who need a device which can last through the entire day while receiving software updates over a period of years. Instead of focusing solely on the hardware or the super high resolution screen, the company is promoting the 7,900 mAh battery, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 CPU and cooling mechanism along with software support for six years.
The rise in usage of the silicon-carbon battery technology has enabled smartphone companies to include very high capacity batteries in their products without compromising on the size of the device. Hence, battery performance is gradually becoming more and more of an attractive factor for mid-range smartphones.
POCO M8x 5G will be unveiled officially in India on 21st August at 12 noon, where the company will announce its exact pricing and complete specification information. The POCO M8x 5G could prove to be an interesting phone if the company can combine its high battery and software support with affordable prices.
