POCO is launching two upcoming X series devices in India. Rumored to be POCO X8 and POCO X8 Power, these smartphones will have huge 9000 mAh and 10000 mAh batteries, AMOLED screen and mid-range price tag.

It looks like POCO is about to introduce two more smartphones in the existing X-series line-up in India. Following the launch of POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, the company has teased two more smartphones in India. Although the exact models have not been mentioned by POCO, it is clearly visible that the teaser is all about battery performance and power.
Recently, it was reported that the upcoming devices could be POCO X8 and POCO X8 Power. Both the smartphones seem to be launched to cater to different price segments; however, the former will provide an affordable version of X8 series, while the latter could be designed for buyers who need an extra-big battery.
POCO X8 and X8 Power India Launch
POCO India has recently hinted at the launch of the upcoming phones with a mysterious post which shows two tall phone silhouettes standing opposite each other on a black background. Orange light is seen in between the phones with the slogan “Exponential Power Detected” and the tagline “Preparing to Disrupt.”
While it cannot be confirmed whether POCO India plans to launch either the POCO X8 or the X8 Power, the focus on power seems to confirm some earlier reports about these phones. It is also possible that the battery might be one of the key features of the upcoming phones.
Earlier reports have suggested that POCO X8 may be derived from Redmi Note 17 Pro, and that the POCO X8 Power might be nothing but the rebranded version of Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. The latter is slated to be launched in Malaysia on August 27, meaning there may be a chance of a September launch in India for the new range of POCO smartphones.
In case these rumors turn out to be true, then both these phones will add to the lineup that consists of POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, which are already available in India since March. While POCO X8 Pro costs around Rs 39,999, POCO X8 Pro Max is priced at around Rs 49,999. Thus, their current prices leave a huge gap under Rs 35,000 within POCO X series of smartphones.
POCO X8 and X8 Power Expected Price in India
It is expected that the price range of the POCO X8 model will be somewhere between Rs 28,000 and Rs 30,000 in India. As for the POCO X8 Power, it may have been launched in the market at Rs 35,000.
Such a pricing strategy will provide the company with an opportunity to attract two types of customers. Thus, while the regular X8 can be of interest for people who want to buy a relatively affordable premium mid-range smartphone, the Power version of the model will allow the company to reach out to the segment that prefers spending more on a device with a much bigger battery capacity.
For your information, the M-series of the company includes all cheaper models, as the price of their smartphones usually does not exceed Rs 25,000.
Massive 10000mAh Battery
The key selling point of POCO X8 Power can be its battery. In accordance with the information obtained by some sources, POCO X8 Power will get the 10,000mAh battery which will become the largest capacity for the POCO X8 series.
The POCO X8 Pro has a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, and the X8 Pro Max is equipped with an 8,500mAh battery. It should be noted that both of them support 100W HyperCharge.
In case of the accuracy of the information, about the 10,000mAh capacity of POCO X8 Power, there will be significant advantages compared with its more expensive "brothers" POCO X8 Pro. However, the capacity of the battery is not the only criterion that will affect the experience in daily usage.
POCO X8 Power Expected Specifications
POCO X8 Power could have a 6.83 inches 1.5K resolution AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. This screen may come with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset by Qualcomm with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
When it comes to the camera department, the phone may come with a 50MP rear camera in the primary lens and an 8MP secondary lens, and the selfies may be captured using the 32MP front-facing camera.
Gorilla Glass Victus 2 may come with POCO X8 Power to ensure extra protection for the phone, while the IP68/IP69 certification ratings will make the phone significantly more durable against dust and water when compared with many other phones in the same price category.
Another important factor may include software support with POCO X8 Power, where rumors state that POCO may provide up to four major operating system upgrades and six years of security patches with this phone.
POCO X8 Could Have a 9000mAh Battery
Another POCO X8 can also be designed primarily for battery performance. Sources say that the mobile device will have a 9,000mAh battery, which means the capacity of the new battery will be bigger than the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max.
In spite of the low-end position in the market, the X8 smartphone will be able to provide one of the biggest capacities among other devices from the same X8 family. Another key aspect of the phone's design will be its AMOLED display and the new generation of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s.
That will mean a real change in the approach of POCO company towards the phone production. Historically, the company had a good reputation due to high-quality and affordable products. However, the new X8 series is expected to be designed mostly for endurance.
Based on the stated specifications, battery capacity may become the main theme for the upcoming POCO X-series of smartphones, with a 9,000mAh battery in the regular version X8 and a 10,000mAh battery in the X8 Power. Both phones will have a distinguishing characteristic in the mid-range smartphone category.
However, buyers should not rely only on these specifications when purchasing the device. The size of the battery will make a smartphone bulky and heavy, while the charging technology and chipset capacity will affect the efficiency of this characteristic.
Moreover, other components like the display and cameras will be crucial for the users' experience, especially in case the X8 Power becomes close to Rs 35,000. As things stand at the moment, there is no official confirmation of the existence of the POCO X8 and the X8 Power, neither have the names, specifications, and prices been released. However, now that POCO has started teasing about two new phones in India, we might start seeing some information released in the coming days. Given the prices and battery sizes suggested, these two phones might just boost the popularity of POCO’s X series of smartphones.
