POCO X8 Power Tipped to Pack a Massive 10,000mAh Battery for India Launch

POCO X8 and X8 Power could launch in India around September, with the X8 Power tipped to feature a massive 10,000mAh battery, 1.5K AMOLED display, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset and IP68/IP69 ratings.

POCO X8 Power

POCO is rumored to be gearing up to go for a step further with its smartphone lineup focused on batteries in India. The brand is said to be planning to release the POCO X8 series consisting of the POCO X8 and POCO X8 Power. As per tipster Sanju Choudhary, the POCO X8 Power is reportedly under development with an extremely huge 10,000mAh battery. If the rumor proves to be true, it will mark the debut of a POCO smartphone equipped with such a large battery.

However, the rumored smartphones might launch in India earlier than anticipated. Tipster Debayan Roy has indicated that the POCO X8 and POCO X8 Power are set to launch in India somewhere in September. While the company has not made any official announcement regarding the launch date and specs of the phones, the global wing of POCO has already teased a new smartphone. The X8 Power is also believed to be closely related to the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, which is set to be released in Malaysia on August 27.

POCO X8 Power Specifications and Features

POCO X8 Power is expected to be the higher-end device in the lineup to come with a huge battery as its biggest strength. From the leaked specs, the smartphone is expected to sport a large 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz. In addition, it is believed that the screen will be capable of 3,840Hz PWM dimming and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, and all this can make the phone a perfect choice for people who are in search of both great displays and large batteries.

As for its internals, it seems that the POCO X8 Power will be driven by Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset from Qualcomm. Additionally, the smartphone could boast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, though a lower-end version of the device is also rumored to have UFS 2.2 storage instead.

The 50MP camera can be expected for the photography in the new POCO X8 Power along with the 8MP ultrawide camera. On the front side, there might be 32MP selfie camera in the phone. IP68 and IP69 rating are expected in the device and this means that the device is going to have good protection against dust and water. The phone with the 10,000mAh battery is said to have the thickness of 8.68 mm, which is impressive for the phone with such big battery.

Software support can become another feature of the phone as per the information provided by Choudhary. Four major OS upgrades and six years of security patches are expected in the new POCO X8 Power.

Battery

Clearly, the 10,000 mAh power bank is the key feature of the upcoming smartphone. It is evident that POCO has been developing its new generation of phones with larger batteries. The latest model on the Indian market, POCO M8 Power, was released there with an 8,000 mAh power bank priced at Rs 24,999, whereas M8x has a 7,900 mAh power source and starts from Rs 18,999.

Thus, the future X8 Power may well demonstrate significantly improved battery capacity in comparison to other phones of the company. 10,000 mAh battery will most probably last much longer than usual phones, especially in case if users are avid gamers, watch movies, browse the Internet and use mobile network extensively.

Moreover, modern battery technologies make it easier for phone companies to produce devices with greater capacity at relatively low prices. Nevertheless, battery capacity is only a part of the equation – charging speed, thermal control, power consumption and the overall weight of the phone are equally important.

However, the regular model of the POCO X8 might also prove to be one of the most battery-filled mobile phones on the market. According to Debayan Roy, the mobile phone might come with a battery that has 9,000mAh of energy alongside an AMOLED screen. As a result, this model will find itself below the X8 Power but will have a significant advantage over other models of smartphones in terms of its battery capacity.

Moreover, according to the latest news, the POCO X8 might be equipped with a new generation of the chipset from Qualcomm named the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. In that case, it might be considered to be a more powerful phone than the POCO M8 series but not as powerful as the X8 Power.

POCO X8 Series Could Be Based on Redmi Phones

As per the upcoming POCO X8 series, it seems that the Chinese manufacturer would continue its age-old practice of releasing rebranded or closely-related Redmi smartphones across other countries. As per the most recent report, the Redmi Note 17 Pro smartphone is likely to get the new identity of POCO X8, whereas Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is likely to get rebranded to POCO X8 Power.

However, this practice continues for the lower-end models too. For instance, the Redmi Note 17 is rumored to become POCO M8 Power, whereas the Redmi 17 5G is likely to get rebranded as POCO M8x. If all the reports turn out to be true, then POCO X8 series will allow Redmi’s hardware in India through POCO’s branding.

POCO X8 and X8 Power India Launch

For now, it must be emphasized that POCO has not yet announced the dates of release, the cost and technical characteristics of both smartphones. Nonetheless, the September launch window mentioned by the tipster would offer great chances for POCO to position itself in India's upper mid-range smartphone market.

It may be assumed that POCO X8 and X8 Power will differ from the competitors primarily due to the huge battery capacity. In other words, 9,000mAh battery for the regular POCO X8 and 10,000mAh battery for the POCO X8 Power model may become unique selling points at a time when the battery capacity becomes an important criterion for the smartphone buyers.

Nonetheless, it should be noted that buyers have to wait for the official announcement of the technical features and cost. The huge battery capacity (10,000mAh) sounds impressively, but the general value of POCO X8 Power will depend on many other factors, including fast charging, chipset performance, display quality, camera performance, software and, first of all, the weight of the smartphone.
