Redmi 15 Launching in India on August 19 with a Massive 7000mAh Battery

Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is gearing up for a major launch in India with the introduction of the Redmi 15 on Tuesday, August 19th. This upcoming smartphone is already creating buzz, thanks to its massive 7000mAh battery, making it Redmi’s first-ever device with such a large capacity. Redmi 15 is the immediate follow-up to the Redmi 13 of last year, but rather surprisingly, the company has opted to bypass the "Redmi 14" branding scheme altogether. As part of the announcement, Redmi will also unveil a new brand image with a new bold logo as it begins a new chapter for the company.

So, what's so special about the Redmi 15? Let's dive into all that we currently know.

Redmi’s First Smartphone with a 7000mAh Battery

The largest USP of Redmi 15 is, by far, the first 7,000mAh battery from the company. So far, large batteries of this capacity were largely limited to rival models such as the OPPO K13 (₹17,999), OnePlus Nord CE5 (₹24,999), and iQOO Z10 (₹21,999). If Redmi is able to launch the 15 at a sub-₹15,000 price point, as rumored, it will be able to quite easily become the best battery phone in its segment.

For comparison, the Redmi 13 launched last year with a 5,030mAh battery at ₹13,999. This jump to 7,000mAh is a massive leap and shows Redmi’s intent to dominate the mid-range segment.

What's more fascinating, though, is the silicon-carbon battery technology implemented in the Redmi 15. This makes the phone remain thin even with the massive capacity, enable quicker charging, and have healthier batteries over time. Xiaomi even says that the phone will retain 80% battery capacity even after four years of usage something users who have long-term plans on their hands will surely thank them for.

To top it all, the Redmi 15 also has 18W reverse charging capabilities, so you can use it to charge other devices like your wireless earbuds, smartwatch, or even your other phone.

Thinnest 7,000mAh Battery Phone with Sleek Design

In spite of housing such a gigantic battery, Redmi is assuring us that the Redmi 15 will be the thinnest phone to carry a 7,000mAh battery. Although the company hasn't shared its dimensions yet, initial teasers indicate that the phone appears notably sleek considering what it packs.

The phone sports a ‘Royal Chrome Design’, built with aerospace-grade metal around the camera island. It will be available in three elegant colors:

  • Midnight Black

  • Frosted White

  • Sandy Purple

This makes the Redmi 15 not just a performance beast but also a phone that looks stylish in hand.

Large 6.9-inch Screen with High Refresh Rate

Yet another big attraction of the Redmi 15 is its huge 6.9-inch screen, which is larger than the majority of phones in its range. While most mid-range and budget smartphones top out at 6.7 or 6.8 inches, Redmi is pushing the limits with almost a 7-inch screen.

The screen is supposed to have a 144Hz refresh rate (for certain apps), providing you with smoother scrolling and gaming. To this, the phone also has an Eye Safe feature, which makes it gentler on the eyes during extended usage sessions.

For binge-watchers, YouTube enthusiasts, and mobile gamers alike, this big screen and its huge battery may turn the Redmi 15 into a go-to device.

Performance

The 6nm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chip powers the Redmi 15. Although it's not the latest processor out there, it will provide solid day-to-day performance. But in the sub-₹15,000 segment, Redmi will have stiff competition from MediaTek Dimensity 7300-powered devices such as the Vivo T4x and Infinix Note 50x, which are marginally more powerful.

Redmi 15 will come with HyperOS 2 (Android 15), guaranteeing seamless smoothness and optimum optimization. Camera-wise, it is set to feature a 50MP dual rear camera setup for all kinds of photography requirements. The phone will also be equipped with Google Gemini AI functionality and Circle to Search, making it the most advanced smart tool-supported phone.

A Bold New Redmi Logo and Branding

Interestingly, the launch of the Redmi 15 will also mark the debut of Redmi’s new branding. The company will now use an all-caps REDMI logo, reflecting a renewed vision for the future. The brand describes this as a move that showcases resilience, ambition, and readiness to shape a bold new era.

Coupling this new identity with a phone that has an enormous 7,000mAh battery seems symbolic it is both powerful and long-lasting.

Based on what we have learned, the Redmi 15 is set to be a battery and entertainment behemoth. With its massive 7,000mAh battery, thin profile, large 6.9-inch screen, and budget-friendly price point, it may be the ideal option for heavy users who spend endless hours gaming, streaming, or working on their phones.

When we went through the Redmi 13, we had felt that the display brightness and low-light camera performance could have been improved. If Redmi has done a better job in those areas in the Redmi 15, then this phone could potentially be one of the best overall performers in its price range. We'll be sure about that when the launch happens on August 19th, and we'll have the complete details, hands-on experience, and full review right here on AndroBranch.
