Redmi 17 5G Launched in India With 7,900mAh Battery and 120Hz Display

The Redmi 17 5G is now available in India with an astounding battery capacity of 7,900mAh, 120Hz display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chip, and HyperOS 3. Everything you want to know about its pricing and specifications is here.

Redmi 17 5G

Redmi has finally launched its Redmi 17 5G in India, offering a massive screen, a large battery and 5G technology within Rs 25,000. This smartphone has been designed for people who look for phones with long-lasting batteries and good entertainment capability. This smartphone will offer HyperOS experience and decent performance for budget smartphones supporting 5G technology.

The Redmi 17 5G is a less expensive version of the Redmi Note 17 5G, as it puts all the emphasis on endurance. It features the largest battery in Redmi phones, 7900 mAh and large 6.9 inches screen. Those people who watch a lot of videos and consume social media content can consider getting this device.

Redmi 17 5G price and availability in India

There are two variants of the Redmi 17 5G smartphone. The one that offers 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option is priced at Rs 39,999, and the second one that features 8GB RAM + 128GB storage space option is offered for Rs 41,999. According to Redmi, the effective price for the base model and for the variant with 8GB RAM is Rs 23,999 and Rs 26,999 respectively.

The colours of the smartphone are as follows: Absolute Black, Endless Blue and Eternal Orange. The Redmi 17 5G smartphone will be available from September 10, 2023, via the Xiaomi India's official website, Amazon.in, and other retailers around the nation.

Display

The Redmi 17 5G sports a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD screen that supports 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screen is capable of producing brightness up to 825 nits, and the inclusion of Gorilla Glass 7i adds another layer of toughness.

Although the lower screen resolution is not as resource-intensive as the full HD+ screen, this also means the phone will have less number of pixels to power, and this will prove to be an advantage for battery longevity. The high refresh rate of 120Hz will offer smooth experience while scrolling through apps and websites.

Processor

On the inside, the Redmi 17 5G makes the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 mobile platform from Qualcomm the first ever to be used in an Indian phone. The 4 nm manufactured chipset offers up to 2.4 GHz CPUs and is built to provide reliable performance for day-to-day activities.

According to Redmi, the phone scores more than 6,60,000 points in AnTuTu tests, meaning that the chipset will have sufficient performance even for multitasking and gaming purposes. The device comes with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, however, according to specs from the presentation, it has a different memory configuration.

Camera Setup

In terms of the photography, the Redmi 17 5G has a 50MP dual AI rear camera system. The phone features an 8MP camera on the front side. Photography and social networking are definitely the primary considerations in this case as opposed to high-end photography capabilities.

The video capturing capability of the device is 1080p at 30 fps.

Battery

The most remarkable attribute of the Redmi 17 5G is the 7,900mAh battery, which is much bigger than other phones of the same class have. Together with the HD+ screen that has quite low resolution, the big battery should ensure that the smartphone will last longer before recharging is necessary.

It is possible to charge the phone via 45W fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging, thus the smartphone can become an external energy source for some compatible accessories or other gadgets. It may be especially good for people who have to travel or play games for a long time.

HyperOS 3, stereo speakers and expandable storage

The software includes features like split screen capability and different customisations for the lock screen. These are all available while still having the same HyperOS user interface.

Redmi has also added a couple of practical features which seem to be disappearing from modern smartphones nowadays. The device includes a 3.5mm headphone port, stereo speakers, and a microSD slot with support for up to 2TB of expandable memory. The phone is rated at IP64, and the Eternal Orange variant has vegan leather finishing.

Coming at a net effective price of Rs 23,999, the Redmi 17 5G is positioned in a highly competitive section of the Indian smartphone market. One of its competitors in this space includes the Realme P4R, which offers similar features like a massive HD+ display along with an 8,000mAh battery.

The Redmi 17 5G's main strength might be its combination of a huge battery, 120Hz display, 5G network and HyperOS 3. It might appeal to those users who currently use a Xiaomi ecosystem or require a smartphone with a battery that has endurance and a large-screen experience.

In general, the Redmi 17 5G isn't trying to compete in terms of premium specifications but rather offers all the necessary features. It has a 7,900mAh battery, a massive 6.9-inch screen, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor and expandable storage. Therefore, this model will interest those users who want to upgrade their current budget phone.
