Samsung on Monday announced that the Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G will launch in India on March 17. The phone will be a new variant in Samsung's Galaxy M series, and not a replacement for the existing Galaxy M17 5G, but an additional model. According to the South Korean tech company, the upcoming handset is designed to deliver reliable performance for communication, content viewing, and everyday tasks. The Galaxy M17e 5G will be a budget-friendly model in the Galaxy M series that is expected to have a long-lasting battery, high performance, and a low price.
Recently, Samsung India released a teaser for the Galaxy M17e 5G on its social media channels and website. The landing page displayed brief messages, "All in One Monster" and "Coming Soon." However, the company has not yet revealed its price. The Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G will be available in two colors – Vibe Violet and Blitz Blue. After launch, it will be available for purchase on Amazon, Samsung's online store and offline retail stores. Interested people can visit the page now and register for updates on the smartphone before its launch in India.
The Galaxy M17e 5G features a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports adaptive brightness and high brightness modes for improved screen visibility in varying lighting conditions. The phone measures approximately 8.2mm thick. The back panel is made of Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer. It is also IP54 rated, making it resistant to light dust and water splashes.
The phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset. This chipset includes two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. Graphics duties are handled by the Mali-G57 GPU. The phone will run on Android 16 based One UI 8. With this, Samsung has promised 6 Android OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates. This interface includes features like larger folders on the home screen and a Now bar to show live activity on the lock screen. The device also integrates Google Gemini AI and supports Circle to Search.
Talking about the camera, Samsung Galaxy M17 will come with a dual rear camera setup in which 50MP primary camera and 2MP depth sensor will be available, while 8MP selfie camera will be available in the front.
The phone features a large 6,000mAh battery. This is larger than the 5,000mAh battery in the Galaxy M17. The difference compared to the Galaxy M17 isn't just the battery, it also has an HD+ display, compared to the M17's FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The M17 featured an Exynos 1330 processor, while the M17e features a Dimensity 6300.
Samsung is now using the "e" suffix on some of its phones. This means it's a variant of the existing model with slightly different specifications. The Galaxy M17e will launch in India's budget 5G smartphone segment, competing with brands like Redmi, Realme, and POCO. Pricing details are expected to be released at the time of launch.
