Xiaomi 14 Civi Review

Design and Build Quality

Xiaomi 14 Civi Box

The Xiaomi 14 Civi stands out with its premium design, which is recognizable it the minute it's picked up. It's far more than just thin; it also boasts a well-proportioned weight distribution, almost invisible curves around its perimeter, and a sleek metallic side. The factors embedded in the design are responsible not only for the phone's beautiful look but also for the distinguished feeling it gives in hand.

A feature that is not to be missed on the Xiaomi 14 Civi is its display, which curves not only on the sides but also at the top and bottom. This design allows for smooth swipes, meaning it is possible to move your finger from the bottom to the top smoothly whiling scrolling through lists. However, the cover protector attached at the front being too flat is not up to the standards of the display and hence not a fully immersive feature.

Among the available color variants, the Matcha Green version has been particularly eye-catching. However, the subtle Cruise Blue option offers a more understated elegance, while the Shadow Black variant caters to those who prefer a stealthier look. From the front, the Xiaomi 14 Civi bears a striking resemblance to the iPhone 15 series, thanks to its pill-shaped notch housing two front cameras – a feature that sets it apart from most other smartphones. This dual-camera notch is reminiscent of the original OnePlus Nord and the Poco X2, adding a unique touch to its design.

Display

Are you fond of Netflix and chill or gaming, if yes, then this phone will be a better option for you. As the Xiaomi 14 Civi has a super bright 6.55-inch AMOLED display. Also, the display of this phone supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 + for content with P3 color gamut. The 1.5K resolution keeps the content sharp on the display and the 120Hz refresh rate will keep pace with social media doom scrolling and gaming. Godzilla Minus One is gorgeous on this.

Along with 6.55-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, this phone also has 240Hz touch sampling rate, 446ppi pixel density and 3,000 nits peak brightness. Now you can guess the sharpness, tone and color balance of this display. If you ask us, the colors look very vibrant, and we think the device should be great for media consumption, some Netflix or even gaming.

Performance

Now if we reveal the inside details of this phone, The dual SIM of Xiaomi 14 Civi runs on HyperOS interface based on Android 14 and It runs on a 4nm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Technically, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor is as good as the previous-generation flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which you will find on the iQOO Neo 9 Pro in this price range. For information, let us tell you that the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro is the world's first smartphone to come with the 8s Gen3. It includes an in-house T1 signal enhancement chip to improve download speeds and network coverage in crowded places. It offers an IceLoop cooling system, which is claimed to work three times more efficiently than traditional vapor cooling systems.

Camera

Well if we look at the camera of the Phone, it has the Leica logo on it, so it is clear that this time the Civi 14 supports Leica algorithms. And so the partnership with Leica on the phone's cameras is a big part of the Xiaomi 14 Civi, and in fact that's where the name Civi comes from, which means 'cinematic vision'.

 Xiaomi 14 Civi Camera

The phone has a total of five cameras - three on the back and two on the front. It has a 25mm 50MP Leica Summilux main camera on the back, a 15mm 12MP ultrawide camera, and a third 50mm 50MP 2x telephoto lens for portraits. In comparison, the cameras on the Civi 14 have been upgraded overall, compared to the previous phone, it not only has an additional telephoto camera, but the main camera and the ultrawide have also been upgraded, as we have just seen, along with all this support from Leica algorithms.

Battery Life

Talking about the battery, this phone has a 4,700mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging, which is useful when your charge is low and you have less time. If you see, it will last the whole day if you use it like a normal phone. The battery is said to deliver up to 80 percent charge within 30 minutes of charging.

Additional Features

Along with all this, this phone gets 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, Beidou, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, proximity sensor, and IR blaster. It has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication and also supports AI-backed face unlock system. Pricing

The Xiaomi 14 Civi is available in three stunning colors: Matcha Green, Cruise Blue, and Shadow Black. The 8GB + 256GB model is priced at ₹42,999, while the 12GB + 512GB variant starts at ₹47,999.

Pros

  • Leica camera features

  • Solid performance

  • Good display with GG Victus 2

  • Powerful speakers

  • Lightweight

  • Feels premium

  • Dual front cameras

Cons

  • No IP68 rating

  • Random notifications from GetApps

  • Battery output is not the best in the segment

  • No FM Radio

  • No 3.5mm Headphone Jack

  • Not Water Proof

  • HyperOS has ads, still

  • Camera lacks details

As I said before when we were talking about the display, this phone is very good for gaming or Netflix but when it comes to the performance of this phone, it lags behind many others. As it is thin and due to this reason this phone gets hot. And if we look at the camera, the camera adds a lot of colors and smoothens the details, which is not liked by everyone, sometimes during portrait shots the photo looks artificial and if you use the camera for some time then the touch starts getting hot, by the way, the company can improve many of these things with its updates. We have tried our best to tell you both the advantages and disadvantages of this phone and if you ask us, then our suggestion would be that if you are looking for a phone for gaming, then you should look at other phones of Xiaomi instead of this, but if you want a phone only for normal use then you can buy this but Redmi K70 may be better because it is also cheaper than this.
