Vivo is preparing to unveil the T5 5G in India, and the smartphone was teased by Flipkart. The device would have a slim 0.799 cm profile, 3D curved screen, OriginOS, NPU for GenAI, and would come with a price tag under Rs 40,000.

Vivo is planning to roll out another smartphone under the T5 series in India in order to expand their line-up in the country. The recently surfaced Vivo T5 5G smartphone can be seen on the e-commerce website Flipkart. It confirms that the smartphone will hit the market via this website once it is launched officially. Although, Vivo has not announced the exact date of launch for the smartphone, the initial teaser of the smartphone has revealed quite a few specifications of the smartphone.
Vivo T5 5G seems to be positioned in the upper mid-range section of the smartphone market. The smartphone has been teased by Vivo in the price bracket of Rs 34,999 to Rs 49,999. One of the most attractive specifications of the smartphone will be its thin form factor. As per the claim by Vivo, T5 5G will come with the thinnest 3D curved display in the segment which measures just 0.799cm.
The teaser also highlights the fact that the Vivo T5 5G will come loaded with OriginOS and a GenAI-ready NPU. While Vivo hasn’t revealed the nature of its AI functionality, the presence of a dedicated NPU means that artificial intelligence-based features will make an integral part of its software ecosystem. The handset will be able to perform a variety of tasks with the help of AI technology; more details might emerge soon before the launch of the phone.
The new Vivo T5 5G will turn out to be the fifth smartphone within the T5 family for the Indian market. Until now, Vivo has released four T5 models, which are T5 Lite, T5 Pro, T5e and T5x. According to the teaser and current range of devices, the base version of T5 will lie somewhere between T5 Pro and T5x. It may have a starting price tag of less than Rs. 40,000 but the official price will be known when the handset will launch.
The timing of the Vivo T5 5G release becomes even more interesting in light of the recent price hike on the Vivo T5 Pro 5G smartphone. Initially, the Vivo T5 Pro 5G was launched in India with a price tag of Rs 29,999. However, currently, the T5 Pro costs Rs 41,999. Also, the entry-level Vivo T5x 5G costs Rs 24,999. Thus, there is a noticeable price gap in the Vivo T5 product range that should be addressed with a new smartphone aimed at customers seeking a more upscale design along with newer technology.
Additionally, the entire smartphone industry faces the problem of rising components prices with a particular emphasis on memory. In such circumstances, the introduction of a new product can become especially relevant for Vivo in terms of smartphone pricing in the upcoming months.
Vivo's T5 5G will launch in an industry that already consists of handsets such as the iQOO Z11, OnePlus Nord CE 6, and Realme 16. In these gadgets, the iQOO Z11 can be regarded as among those that can prove to be significant competition for Vivo's soon-to-launch smartphone since it is targeted at the under Rs. 40,000 segment and offers some good hardware, hence Vivo will have to do more than having a thin phone in order to lure customers.
For an idea of what kind of features Vivo can introduce in its upcoming device, the iQOO Z11 is equipped with a 6.83 inches curved 1.5K OLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. It is backed by the Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset and comes with an immense 7,050mAh battery. It also sports a 50MP main camera and 8MP ultrawide camera along with the IP68/IP69 durability certifications. The operating system that it uses is the OriginOS 6 on Android 16.
But it should also be mentioned that this configuration belongs to the iQOO Z11, not the Vivo T5 5G confirmed specs. Given the fact that there is currently little known about the future Vivo model, the Z11 may give an idea of what kind of competition Vivo will have to deal with at this pricing point. The company will have to impress potential customers with such factors as performance, battery capacity, camera, and charging features along with the slim curved design of its future product.
Potential smartphone buyers, who want to buy a new device priced in the range of Rs 35,000-Rs 40,000, may find the Vivo T5 5G interesting. The thin 0.799cm body of the smartphone along with its curved screen may become its major advantages for customers who prefer stylish devices. Given the fact that the release date and specs of the future Vivo smartphone are not officially announced yet, more information is expected soon.
