Vivo T5 is launching in India on September 2 with a slim 7.99mm design, 7,050mAh battery, 144Hz curved AMOLED display and Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset.

The release date of the upcoming mid-range smartphone of Vivo has been officially announced in India. The Vivo T5 smartphone will be launched by the brand in the country on September 2. This will be the latest addition to the Vivo T-series line-up which comprises a sleek design, large battery of 7,050mAh and high refresh rate curved AMOLED screen. Another significant specification of the smartphone is that it comes equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset. Thus, the Vivo T5 becomes one of the most powerful smartphones in the Vivo T-series line-up.
This new Vivo T5 smartphone will compete with other models from the T-series such as T5 Lite, T5 Pro, T5e, and T5x in India. The pricing range of the smartphone was already announced earlier by the company through its Flipkart microsite, but now, it provides additional details about the design of the smartphone and some specifications before its official launch. Surprisingly, several specifications of the smartphone are quite similar to those of the newly-launched iQOO Z11 smartphone.
Vivo T5 Design and Display Details
Vivo T5 will come with a choice of colour options Royal Bronze and Silver Green and only 7.99mm thick. According to the manufacturer, it will be the thinnest smartphone in its category with a battery capacity of over 7,000mAh. It is especially worth highlighting since a large battery is usually associated with a thick and heavy smartphone. Thus, slimness can be considered one of the most distinctive features of Vivo T5.
As for the screen of this smartphone, it is going to feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K 3D curved AMOLED screen. Also, it is going to have a high refresh rate of 144Hz. Thus, scrolling, animations and gaming should be smoother on such a screen when compared to screens with conventional refresh rates of 60Hz or 120Hz. High resolution of the AMOLED screen with curved edges adds premium look to this smartphone which is not always associated with the mid-range smartphones.
Speaking of the processor of Vivo T5, it will be the MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset. This chip is also used in iQOO Z11 making Vivo T5 similar to this smartphone. Additionally, this smartphone will run OriginOS software and is going to have an NPU.
Vivo T5 Looks Very Similar to iQOO Z11
One of the fascinating things about the Vivo T5 is the design of the back of the phone. This smartphone seems to have the same design as the iQOO Z11 with the pill-type camera setup and circular positioning of the flash. Apart from this, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of difference visually for the most part.
Apart from having the same design, both of these models have their own distinct looks in terms of colors. Vivo will release the T5 with either Royal Bronze or Silver Green options, while the iQOO Z11 can be found in Aurora Green and Celestial Blue colors. This similarity is interesting, as these phones do share some specifications too.
First of all, the iQOO Z11 has a 6.83 inch 1.5K AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, MediaTek Dimensity 7500 Turbo processor and a 7,050 mAh battery with 44W charging. There aren't many details on the T5's camera and charging specs, but the hardware specifications might be similar.
Camera Specifications
The specifications related to the cameras on the Vivo T5 have not been disclosed yet. The device is known to have a pill-shaped rear camera module that is characteristic of Vivo devices. For example, the Vivo X300 FE and Vivo S2 have similar camera modules.
It is yet unknown whether Vivo will include the same camera specifications in the T5 as those included in the iQOO Z11. This latter smartphone boasts a main camera with a resolution of 50 MP using the Sony IMX882 sensor and optical image stabilisation. Moreover, there is also an 8 MP ultrawide camera as well as a front-facing camera with 32 MP. It should be noted that, with the same camera specifications, the T5 could stand out in its category of pricing.
Vivo T5 Expected Price in India
Though Vivo has not officially confirmed the price of T5, it has already hinted from its Flipkart microsite that the phone will belong to the category of Rs 34,999 to Rs 49,999. According to its specifications, the phone can be expected to be priced below Rs 40,000.
The starting price of Rs 34,999 for iQOO Z11 can be an important consideration, mainly due to their similarity in design, processor, screen and battery size. Thus, Vive needs to properly price the T5 so that the brand does not compete against itself.
Currently, the base price of Vivo T5 Pro is Rs 41,999 and that of T5x is Rs 24,999. This gives some space to position T5 between the two phones. But the actual pricing and launch offers will be an important factor in making the phone more attractive not just than the iQOO Z11, but also other phones available under Rs 40,000.
Vivo T5 looks like a good choice for consumers who consider battery life their main priority and do not want to sacrifice the design. The 7,050mAh battery in combination with the 7.99mm thick device can become one of its most notable features, while the 1.5K curved AMOLED screen and 144Hz refresh rate will surely attract users looking for premium display experience.
The Dimensity 7500 Turbo chipset also provides decent performance characteristics for the T5, but the final list of cameras, charging speed and pricing will determine the success of the smartphone. With its release set for September 2, the company will present the rest of the specs shortly. The major problem for Vivo will be finding enough arguments in favor of the new product compared to very similar iQOO Z11.
