Vivo V80 Lite 5G is set to launch in Malaysia on September 3 with a massive 10,000mAh battery. Here’s everything we know about its design, display, cameras, chipset, charging and possible India launch.

There is a new major focus on battery with the upcoming V-series smartphone of Vivo. The company has officially announced the launch date of Vivo V80 Lite 5G in Malaysia which is set for September 3rd, and the most interesting thing about this launch is that the smartphone will feature a huge 10,000mAh battery. Therefore, with the new launch, the Vivo V80 Lite will become the first smartphone from the brand that features a 10,000mAh battery capacity, making it stand out from the competition.
In any case, the upcoming smartphone of Vivo was already showcased through an Instagram post of one Indian retailer. This means that the smartphone might also be launched in India in the future, but the designs of the phone which was leaked in India before differ from the one showcased by Vivo Malaysia now.
Vivo V80 Lite Design and Battery Details
Some of the major design specifications of the V80 Lite, which will be available in Malaysia have been announced by Vivo. The smartphone will have a flat body with a flat back panel that makes the phone look more modern. Vivo may give the users an option of choosing from three colors of the device - Black, Green, and Pink.
The back side of the smartphone will have a square camera module with a 50MP main sensor. Some other specifications related to the cameras have not been announced by the company yet but the camera system is considered as one of the notable features of the smartphone along with its massive battery.
Without any doubt, the 10,000mAh battery is surely the most prominent factor for discussion. The fact is that this battery capacity is not used in any of the company's smartphone devices for the very first time. The first device by Vivo using such capacity of the battery was Vivo Y600 Pro, which was introduced in China using a 10,200mAh battery.
The move by Vivo to include a battery of 10,000 mAh in its mid-range V-series mobile phone takes place amid an era when most mobile phone makers use battery capacity as one of the key factors influencing the purchase decisions of consumers. Thanks to the presence of silicon-carbon battery technology, which is relatively new, manufacturers are able to provide much larger batteries in the mobile phones without the need of making the phones larger in size compared to other battery technologies.
The market of mid-range smartphones is highly competitive now, and manufacturers are seeking to create unique features of the phones in order to attract more customers. Apart from display, processor, camera and storage, battery life has become yet another factor.
Vivo is not the only company applying this tactic. Realme and Honor have launched smartphones of 10,000 mAh batteries in the global markets, while Redmi is set to launch the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max this month.
Vivo V80 Lite Specifications
Even though Vivo has not announced the official specifications of V80 Lite, prior leaks and certifications have offered some information about the smartphone. There have been signs pointing towards Vivo possibly recycling hardware used by the Vivo S2 in some markets.
Vivo V80 Lite has been spotted with multiple model numbers on different certification websites, but V2576 is one model number worth noting because it was used for Vivo S2 as well. If it's true, then Vivo V80 Lite will be equipped with a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
When it comes to photography, there have been speculations that this Vivo phone will come with a 50MP primary camera, and it's a Sony IMX852 sensor. In addition to that, there is also an 8MP ultrawide shooter. Front of the device will come with a 32MP selfie shooter.
Some of the other notable features include Aura Light, stereo speakers, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Moreover, this Vivo smartphone may even come with IP68 and IP69 rating.
Chipset and Charging Details Remain Unclear
Even with the increasing number of details about the V80 Lite, there are still some vital details that are not clear about the phone. One of those is the chipset. From previous leaks, the processor has been hinted at either the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo or the Dimensity 7300e, hence making it hard to know which of the two Vivo will use.
Also, there are some issues with the charging specifications of the phone. The phone had previously been rumored to charge using 90W fast charging technology, which would prove to be very useful to the phone because of the 10,000mAh battery pack. However, some certification details suggest otherwise, hinting at a 44W charger.
The charging speed will play a vital role in how useful this phone becomes because having a big battery does not mean much without fast charging capabilities.
India Launch Could Be Next
It was confirmed that Vivo V80 Lite is being launched in Malaysia on September 3. However, from what can be seen, there seems to be a possibility that the smartphone may finally end up in India at some point. It was spotted on a retailer's Instagram account from India.
However, since there is a difference between the two versions of the designs from Malaysia and India, it would be premature to conclude that the same phone is being released in both countries. Vivo might be using a different model for each country.
More information will come when the product launch date gets closer.
A 10,000 mAh battery, when combined with a big 1.5K AMOLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, solid camera and IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, could help the Vivo V80 Lite become an interesting offer from the mid-tier range.
But in the end, it won’t be all about the battery capacity itself, but also the overall performance of the device as a whole. Weight and size of the device, charging capabilities, processor power and optimization of the software could all influence whether the battery life of the device is improved with the huge 10,000 mAh capacity.
Right now, all signs point to Vivo clearly focusing on the battery life of the device with the upcoming Vivo V80 Lite, and the Malaysian launch on September 3rd should show how well the brand managed to balance a huge battery with the rest of the hardware in the smartphone.
