Boltt has introduced its first-ever smartphones, namely the Boltt Evo 4G and Boltt Ace 5G, in the Indian market for under Rs 20,000 price category. These phones come with Android 16 operating system, no-bloat software, 120Hz display screen, 6,000 mAh battery, and the Ace 5

Boltt, the smartphone sub-brand by Fire-Boltt, has made a move in India and launched its first smartphones. Boltt has launched two smartphones named Boltt Evo 4G and Boltt Ace 5G. These smartphones have been designed for buyers interested in the sub-Rs 20,000 smartphone segment. These smartphones are priced in line with affordability but provide some essential features such as clean software, big battery, AI camera features, and Android 16 out of the box.
Boltt Evo is the cheaper one out of the two smartphones and comes with the Unisoc T7250 chipset and 4G connectivity. The other smartphone named Boltt Ace 5G comes with the Unisoc T8200 chipset and 5G connectivity. This is not only that; this smartphone even supports NFC. Boltt is also providing service support right from the launch day that is indeed good news for a smartphone brand new in the market.
Boltt Evo and Ace 5G Price in India
In India, the price of the Boltt Evo begins from Rs 10,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. While the higher variant which has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage has a price tag of Rs 11,999. Similarly, the price of the Boltt Ace 5G begins from Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage version and the 6GB+128GB version has a price of Rs 14,999. The highest variant has 8GB+128GB memory and its price is Rs 15,999.
These two smartphone models will become available for purchase from Flipkart starting September 1, 2021 at 12 PM IST time. Both smartphones are going to be available in several colour variants as well. While the Boltt Evo has five colour options including Sky Blue, Midnight Black, Lavender Bloom, Berry Red, and Arctic White, the Boltt Ace 5G smartphone is available in six colours which include Sky Blue, Midnight Black, Lavender Bloom, Burgundy Bliss, Forest Green, and Arctic White.
Both smartphones come with a Rs 1,000 discount on launch day offer.
Boltt Evo and Ace 5G Display
In both the Boltt Evo and the Ace 5G smartphones, there is a 6.79-inch HD+ display that is equipped with a resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels. The screen supports 120Hz refresh rates, and it implies that scrolling through applications and social media posts will feel much smoother than with regular 60Hz displays.
The screens can get up to 600 nits bright and have a centrally located cutout for the 8MP front camera. Although the resolution is not very high for such a big display, the 120Hz refresh rate will probably be one of the most noticeable upgrades from the older low-end phone.
Performance and Software
However, Boltt Evo is equipped with Unisoc T7250 chipsets, while Ace 5G is outfitted with more advanced Unisoc T8200 chipsets. The processors are not primarily meant for intense gaming and working but rather for regular use.
Perhaps one of the most compelling advantages of the new smartphones by Boltt brand is that they come preinstalled with certain software features. Both devices are going to ship with pre-installed Android 16 OS and have a bloatware-free user interface. It is possible that this feature could help Boltt phones gain an upper hand over other smartphones in the same price range.
Finally, both devices offer Circle to Search and Google Lens features allowing users to find whatever they are looking for directly from the screen. Especially the latter feature could turn out to be very appealing due to its novelty at this price point.
AI-Enhanced Cameras
Camera setup is yet another section in which Boltt is seeking differentiation for its first-generation smartphones. Boltt Ace 5G offers a rear primary camera of 64 MP with f/1.8 aperture, and the Boltt Evo comes with a 50 MP rear primary camera.
Both smartphones have Google AI camera functionalities, such as Face Unblur and Night Mode. Software improvements have been offered by the company through this approach to compensate for the hardware limitations that these phones might suffer from when it comes to capturing better images. Nevertheless, actual camera performance would depend on image processing and sensors, and the actual camera performance of these phones would become known after testing in the market.
Both smartphones have an 8 MP front-facing camera set up in the punch-hole display of the phone.
6,000mAh Battery With 18W Charging
Battery life is yet another big highlight of both Boltt Evo and Boltt Ace 5G. The two devices come equipped with a 6000 mAh battery, which is bigger compared to most of the smaller and medium-priced smartphones on the market.
The battery is capable of supporting up to 18W fast charging. Although 18W fast charging is quite average in comparison to the current fast charging technology, it could help with ensuring good battery performance, taking into account that the devices are equipped with rather low-end hardware.
Moreover, the Boltt Ace 5G comes with NFC, enabling customers to use it for contactless payments through Google Pay and Paytm. This feature is not common for many budget smartphones, thus, it becomes an additional benefit of the device.
Boltt Evo vs itel Zeno 200 4G
The Boltt Evo smartphone is priced at Rs 10,999 and will compete with other phones like the itel Zeno 200 4G. However, both smartphones have a similar chipset, Unisoc T7250. Nevertheless, the Boltt Evo is distinguished by certain features.
For one thing, the Evo comes with a clean bloatware software interface, a high-resolution 50MP main camera, and a large capacity 6,000mAh battery. In contrast, the itel Zeno 200 4G gives 128GB base storage capacity, thus becoming an advantageous feature for customers that give priority to internal storage capacity.
Thus, the customer will be able to choose the smartphone according to his/her needs and preferences. While some customers might need a smartphone with clean software and increased battery capacity, others might require increased storage capacity of the device.
Boltt Ace 5G vs Lava Virat V1 5G
The most intriguing competitor to the Boltt Ace 5G is the Lava Virat V1 5G, which is powered by the same Unisoc T8200 processor and has the same 6,000mAh battery capacity as well as clean software experience.
While the Lava Virat V1 5G has a price tag of Rs 12,999 and comes with 64GB of storage, the Boltt Ace 5G is priced at Rs 13,999 and has 128GB of storage. This may make a difference for users looking for extra storage space for apps, photos, videos, and games.
Should You Buy the Boltt Evo or Ace 5G?
Boltt Evo and Ace 5G make very interesting debuts by a new brand coming into the highly competitive market. Apart from specifications, Boltt is focusing on aspects such as no bloatware, software with AI cameras, large batteries and services.
Boltt Evo could be an interesting proposition for people looking at a budget of Rs 11,000 for a device which provides clean Android experience, 120Hz screen and a large battery. Boltt Ace 5G seems like a better choice for people ready to shell out Rs 14,000 to Rs 16,000 in order to get 5G connectivity, extra storage, a higher resolution camera and NFC.
It should be noted that Boltt is a new smartphone brand and interested customers should check the service centers for Boltt in their city prior to buying any of the two devices. Good after sales service network is important to establish consumer trust. Given that Boltt has priced the two smartphones aggressively, it can give buyers a good alternative in India's highly competitive budget smartphone market.
