Google has formally unveiled its official Gemini app for Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers, providing users a means of accessing the company’s AI assistant directly through their desktop. With the release of the Gemini Windows app, users will no longer need to use the web browser but rather access Gemini while still working with other programs.

Among the main features of the newly released Gemini Windows app is the convenient shortcut to access the assistant. To use the Gemini app, users only need to press Alt + Space in order to access the assistant and ask it anything while doing their work in the program they are working with.

Apart from that, there is a workspace in which the user can use Gemini while connecting it to various Google applications supported by it. This kind of integration will help people who use Google's ecosystem for productive and other everyday tasks to find their task easier with the help of Gemini.

On top of that, Google will integrate some of its AI-based creativity tools into the Windows app. There is an image generation capability of the Gemini app powered by Nano Banana. Thus, it will become very helpful for various creators, designers, marketers, and others dealing with visual content.

Video making is one of the major functionalities provided by the application. As a result, Google has included Gemini Omni, providing users with the possibility of using AI-based video creation along with the other features of the chatbot. The availability of image and video making in the same desktop application enables Gemini to go beyond a typical AI assistant.

Moreover, the worldwide Windows release makes it even easier for users that use their PCs as their primary device. Having its own app enables users to have access to AI tools of Google without having to keep any other browser tabs open, and thanks to Alt + Space shortcut, they can always easily bring Gemini into their work process.

With Google offering Gemini on Windows 10 and 11, it can be considered that the company is trying to make Gemini an integrated desktop AI assistant. All of this in addition to fast accessibility, links with Google applications, ability to create images, and videos will make the new Gemini application a handy one.
