Instagram is rolling out a new feature that lets users add posts they are tagged in directly to their main profile grid. The update gives users more control over their profiles and makes it easier to showcase collaborations, group photos, and other tagged content.

Instagram

Instagram has decided to give its users additional options in terms of customizing their profiles by introducing a new feature that lets the users add their tagged posts straight to their profile grid. This feature has been rolled out worldwide and is going to give users yet another opportunity to customize their profiles without uploading anything on their own. This option might turn out to be extremely helpful for those users who would like to highlight some group pictures or other pictures where they appear but which do not belong to them.

Prior to this change, all tagged posts have been visible only in a separate section called "Tagged" within an Instagram profile of each user. Despite the availability of these posts, they had not been shown together with the posts uploaded by users on the main profile grid. Now users have an opportunity to choose their favorite posts from the "Tagged" section and place them on the main grid.

How to Add Tagged Posts to Your Instagram Profile Grid

There are multiple methods through which one can add a tagged post to the primary profile grid on Instagram. One method includes adding a tagged post via the DM notification received once someone tags the user. Another method involves opening the tagged post and tapping the three dots icon in which one can find the required option. A user can also go to the Tagged section of his/her profile, long-press the post that needs to be highlighted, and choose the appropriate option.

Instagram tagged posts

Once a post has been tagged and added to the primary profile grid, it will normally appear in the reverse chronological order. In case the user had already arranged his/her profile grid in an orderly fashion, he/she can continue doing the same even after tagging a new post. It is possible to say that users do not have to compromise the layout of their profile in case they tag any post.

In addition to that, Instagram also provides an opportunity for users to take out their tagged posts from the main feed grid. The removal of the post from the feed grid will neither delete the original post nor will it get rid of the post from the tagged section on the profile.

Instagram Is Expanding Profile Customisation

The newly launched tagged-post feature is part of Instagram's overall efforts to provide more options for profile customisation. Instagram has recently rolled out the option to reorder the posts within the profile grid, which gives users the ability to shuffle the sequence of their content without having to delete posts and upload them again. Such functionality may be particularly helpful for creators and regular users who want to preserve certain look of their profiles.

Instagram has been implementing a variety of additional options for post customisation as well. Multiple captions for carousel posts have become available to Instagram users, and in addition to this the ability to modify the audio on posts was implemented by the platform.

Being able to highlight the tagged posts would be highly beneficial for the creators as well. Collaborations, work-related posts, group photos, sponsored posts, and event-related posts may now be included in the profile's visual presentation without forcing the profile owner to make an extra upload.

In any case, the newest Instagram update opens up new opportunities for personalisation of the profile grid. With the possibility of highlighting some of the tagged posts in the main grid of the profile, Instagram gives its users a chance to take a greater control over their representation on the profile. With each new tool that Instagram is developing to allow for customisation of the profile and its content, users get one more way to personalize Instagram without the need for deletion and uploading of the same content.
