Lava, India's leading homegrown mobile handset company launched a new phone, Lava Yuva Star 3, yesterday on Thursday, as an entry-level smartphone priced under ₹10,000. The new Lava Yuva series handset comes in two different color options. The phone comes with several notable features and is the successor to last year’s Lava Yuva Star 2, which was launched in May 2025. In comparison, it can compete with phones like itel A100, AI+ Nova and Tecno Spark Go 3. It is specially designed keeping in mind the first-time smartphone users.

Software and Design of Lava Yuva Star 3

The Lava Yuva Star 3 will ship with Android 15 Go Edition, which offers a clean, bloatware-free experience. Design-wise, this new phone shares its design with the Lava Bold N1, featuring flat edges and a square camera module. The phone's durability is also a highlight in this segment, with IP64 water and dust resistance.

The phone is no slouch in terms of display either, featuring a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD (720x1,600 pixels) display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 2.5D curved glass, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The bezels and waterdrop notch are typical of budget phones.


Performance and Storage

The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Unisoc SC9863A chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card, and up to 8GB of RAM with virtual RAM support. Connectivity options on the Lava Yuva Star 3 include Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port. It has side mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication. The smartphone runs on Android 15 Go Edition, which offers a smooth and clutter-free UI experience without any bloatware. The phone lacks 5G connectivity, offering only 4G connectivity. Overall, the Lava Yuva Star 2's performance is suitable for basic daily use.


Camera

Talking about the camera, the Lava Yuva Star 3 has an AI-powered rear camera unit, which includes a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls, housed inside a waterdrop notch.


Battery

The phone will also come with a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging support. The company claims that the Lava Yuva Star 3 will offer 340 hours of standby, around 615 minutes of YouTube playback, and around 30 hours of talk time, and that it takes around 185 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%. Other key features include IP64-rated dust and water resistance, auto anonymous call recording support, a USB Type-C port, and Band 28 support, which can help provide better network coverage in remote areas.


Pricing

The Lava Yuva Star 3 is priced at ₹7,499 in India and will come in two color options: Indus Black and Siachen White. Sales will begin in retail stores in March. The phone also comes with a 1-year warranty and free home service.
