Lenskart Steps Into the AI Wearables Game With “B by Lenskart Smartglasses

Smart wearables have come a long way-from simple fitness trackers to feature-rich smartwatches and now to futuristic devices such as smart rings and smart glasses. However, while most categories of wearables are seeing rapid development and market expansion, smart glasses have remained relatively niche, evolving at a slower but steady pace. All this might change soon with Lenskart, India's leading eyewear brand, getting ready to enter the segment with its own AI-powered "B by Lenskart Smartglasses", expected to debut by the end of December 2025.

The "B by Lenskart Smartglasses" represent a great leap forward for Indian wearable technology. As brands such as Meta and Snapchat have already experimented with the category around the world, Lenskart's entry brings on board homegrown innovation meant for Indian consumers. Their sleek, light frame packs in AI, camera, and smart functionality, marking a major push toward everyday smart eyewear.

According to the company, the glasses weigh just 40 grams, about 20% lighter than competitors including the 48g Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. But despite being lighter, they pack quite a punch in terms of tech-the glasses are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, the same processor behind Meta's latest Ray-Ban smart glasses. This chip is designed for AI-powered augmented reality experiences, guaranteeing smooth performance and energy efficiency.

AI-Powered Features

The company's ambition is not to create just another pair of connected glasses but to make AI-assisted living more practical and mainstream. The smart glasses will feature a built-in Sony camera that allows hands-free photo and video capture, making them perfect for vlogging, travel, and content creation.

But what really makes it stand out is the integration of Google's Gemini 2.5 Live, which powers an advanced AI assistant that enables several cutting-edge features, including:

  • Voice-controlled interactions

  • UPI payments through voice or gesture

  • Live translation

  • Messaging and handling of calls

  • Well-being and fitness insights

Essentially, the new "B by Lenskart Smartglasses" can be your smart buddy sitting on your face and helping you perform daily digital tasks without having to touch your smartphone.

India-Centric Approach with Gemini Integration

While Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses are likely to add UPI Lite and Hindi support soon, Lenskart appears to be taking things to the next level. The brand may use the language flexibility of Google Gemini to support several Indian regional languages-a game-changer for users across India. This would mean live translation, payments, and conversations with AI would soon be possible in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, and Marathi, among others, handing Lenskart a big advantage in the Indian market.

Design and Customization

CEO of Lenskart Peyush Bansal recently tweeted a teaser showing off the classic wayfarer style design. These smart glasses are fitted with cameras up front, speakers integrated at the end of each frame, and a sleek finish to fit tech into timeless eyewear fashion.

There's also a possibility of multiple frame designs at launch, including prescription lens support for everyday users. If Lenskart combines style flexibility with AI capability, then it has the potential to attract both tech enthusiasts and traditional eyewear buyers.

Moreover, Lenskart has hinted that the platform for smart glasses will be opened up to developers, thereby allowing third-party apps for food delivery, entertainment, tracking fitness, and more. This open ecosystem might well help B by Lenskart become a full-fledged wearable ecosystem, just like smartphones transformed the way apps are used.

Price and Competition

Meta's Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Gen 1 currently starts from around ₹29,900 in India. If Lenskart can price the product well preferably under ₹25,000 to make AI-driven eyewear accessible to the mass market segment, it would be a major factor in its favor in the Indian market.

With the company's customer base and distribution network in place, Lenskart is in a good position to introduce smart eyewear to its retail stores as well as online customers. The brand has experience with semi-smart glasses-Lenskart Phonic launched earlier this year that allowed users to take calls, listen to music, and interact with voice assistants. However, the new B by Lenskart Smartglasses take this concept to a much higher level, integrating AI intelligence, camera vision, and advanced connectivity.

As Meta expands globally and Indian consumers grow more tech-savvy, the timing seems perfect for Lenskart. The brand's Made-for-India approach combined with AI-driven innovation may finally make smart glasses go mainstream in the country. If the company delivers on its promises, especially regarding AI performance, comfort, and affordability, the B by Lenskart Smartglasses could be one of the most important wearable launches of 2025. For now, all eyes will be turned towards December when Lenskart officially launches its lineup of smart eyewear. From the tech-savvy to the content-driven, to the person in search of convenience in the most futuristic way possible, B by Lenskart Smartglasses could change how we see-and deal with-the world.
