Mivi is gearing up to enter the Indian smartphone market with its debut smartphone. The Mivi MVNOE has been spotted on Geekbench with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, 6GB RAM, and Android 16, suggesting that Mivi could release an affordable 5G smartphone under Rs 15,000.

The Indian consumer electronics firm Mivi is soon to launch its first smartphone and the first device has surfaced on the benchmarking website Geekbench. It is listed as the Mivi MVNOE and the device sports the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset along with 6GB of RAM and runs on Android 16. While this information has not yet been officially confirmed by the company, it adds more authenticity to some of the other details of the device which had surfaced before.
According to earlier reports, the Indian consumer electronics company was targeting the budget segment for its debut smartphone. In another report, it was claimed that the price of the debut smartphone will be less than Rs 15,000 and that it will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. However, it is essential to keep in mind that the company has not confirmed if this is the retail version of the upcoming smartphone.
Mivi MVNOE Geekbench Listing
As per a Geekbench benchmark score leaked on Twitter by a tipster named Sanju Choudhary, the Mivi MVNOE has been seen with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, whose model number is SM4450. The SoC comes with an octa-core setup of CPU, including two high-performance cores operating at 2.21GHz and six high-efficiency cores operating at 1.96GHz.
According to Geekbench 7, the scores in the single-core test and the multi-core test of the phone were 677 and 1,490, respectively. Clearly, the benchmarks place the Mivi MVNOE in the range of entry level to budget performance phones, which would be a wise move from Mivi if it aims to offer the phone at less than Rs 15,000 price point.
There is also information about 5.35GB of available memory, which indicates that Mivi has provided 6GB of RAM to the smartphone. It will be enough to have a decent experience while surfing the Internet, using social networking sites, watching videos, and switching between applications.
Android 16 Could Be a Major Highlight
A further point of interest brought about by the appearance of the product on Geekbench is the software. The Mivi MVNOE appears to run on Android 16, meaning that Mivi's first smartphone may have a relatively updated software experience straight out of the box.
When it comes to a budget smartphone, well-optimised software could prove equally as crucial to a positive user experience as specifications themselves. With the absence of unnecessary pre-loaded software on Mivi's part, the device could set itself apart from others in its price range.
Unfortunately, at present there is no information available about how the device will look like and what kind of features the operating system offers. The question of updates for Android remains unresolved as well.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Could Bring 5G to Mivi's Budget Phone
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor is not a new chipset in the market; however, it has some value even in affordable smartphones due to its inbuilt 5G technology. This can be helpful for Mivi if the company launches its first phone under the Rs 15,000 mark.
The sub-Rs 15,000 range smartphone segment has been making it difficult for customers who need a blend of 5G technology, good performance and modern software. There are some affordable phones which have prioritized 4G technology over others which have 5G technology with better hardware and can command higher prices.
The use of Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipsets in Mivi’s first phone will enable the company to cater to customers who would like to have basic 5G functionality without paying too much. Although it might not be able to compete with modern mid-range processors in terms of performance, it will still be able to do fine with optimised software.
Mivi Phone Could Launch Under Rs 15,000
Mivi’s Geekbench profile comes at a time when there have been reports that indicate the price of the brand’s first smartphone would be lower than Rs 15,000. Mivi has been setting expectations for itself in relation to entering the market of smartphones and its product will be available via Flipkart.
In this regard, it should be noted that the price, release date and full specification of the device has yet to be revealed. The display, camera specifications, battery capacity, charging capabilities and internal storage space is currently unclear. It is these factors which will decide whether the smartphone is competitive or not in relation to its existing competitors in the low-price segment.
The choice of an old yet proven Snapdragon chipset may come in handy for Mivi in relation to cost saving during production of the smartphone. Considering the price of memory and components of smartphones, choosing a proven hardware solution rather than the latest one may enable Mivi to spend the money on something else.
Should You Wait for the Mivi Smartphone?
For those customers who want a budget 5G-enabled phone, the Mivi phone could be considered as a potential candidate worth watching out for. Based on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, 6GB RAM, and Android 16, it can be concluded that Mivi is striving to develop an efficient rather than high-performance phone.
The chipset used in the phone is a couple of years old but it is not really something to be concerned about for a phone of this category. For everyday usage, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 could suffice as far as performance goes while providing 5G network connectivity as well. The most important thing is to see how Mivi uses this chipset alongside other features.
A powerful battery, a quality screen, efficient cameras and fast charging could increase the popularity of this device. In addition, clean software and clear update policies could help the company distinguish itself from other companies occupying this segment.
However, for now, the Geekbench specs can only be taken as the leaks about the specs rather than actual official specs. The device does bear the name of Mivi and contains many features that have been previously reported, but still the company has not officially confirmed the phone yet.
If the company does manage to introduce the phone at under Rs 15,000 with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, 6GB of RAM, Android 16, and overall powerful hardware, then the first phone from Mivi might prove to be quite an intriguing addition to the Indian budget 5G segment. Even more important than that, the phone will provide the customers with one more choice in this limited segment.
