A bigger flagship comeback by OnePlus than expected in India might be on the cards. While prior information had it that OnePlus was getting ready for launching the OnePlus 16R alone in India, a fresh leak shows that even the standard OnePlus 16 might see the light of day in the country. If the above reports prove to be true, then Indians could soon have their hands on two new premium smartphones from the company catering to different budget segments.
As per Debayan Roy, more famous as Gadgetsdata, OnePlus is busy developing both OnePlus 16 and OnePlus 16R for the Indian market. While OnePlus 16R is said to be a confirmed smartphone development for India by OnePlus, the standard OnePlus 16 too is almost confirmed for launching in the Indian market. Nevertheless, there has been no official announcement by the company regarding these smartphones' Indian availability till date.

According to the recently shared post by Debayan Roy on X, the OnePlus 16R is for sure in the works for India, whereas OnePlus 16's development for the Indian market has been almost confirmed. This hints at the possibility that OnePlus might think about bringing its latest flagship with number nomenclature in the Indian market rather than focusing on the R-series product.
Further adding credence to these rumors, yet another tipster named Abhishek Yadav has alleged that OnePlus has already started testing the global version of the software for its upcoming flagship smartphone. It has been reportedly spotted in the three model numbers of CPH2901, CPH2903 and CPH2905. As per the tipster, its global availability could be restricted only to India and a few other Asian countries.

The OnePlus 16 has also been unveiled in China, providing us with an insight into what the company can offer to other markets around the world. The smartphone was equipped with some flagship-grade hardware components such as a high refresh rate LTPO OLED display, Snapdragon chipset, and a large battery.
Specifically, the smartphone is equipped with a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a maximum refresh rate of 185Hz in supported games. Such a high refresh rate will make the smartphone highly attractive for mobile gamers who want better gameplay and touch responsiveness.
The OnePlus 16 is powered by a flagship-grade Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. The other big thing in the phone is the battery capacity. But yet another leak reveals a somewhat different story when it comes to the specs of the smartphone. In particular, it indicates that OnePlus 16R could come equipped with triple 50MP camera at the back, 165Hz screen and a battery larger than 7,500 mAh.
