Vivo V80 FE has been officially unveiled in the Philippines with a Dimensity 7400-Turbo chipset, 7,000mAh battery, 90W fast charging, 50MP ZEISS cameras and a 120Hz AMOLED display. Here's everything you need to know about its specifications, features and expected India launch.

Vivo V80 FE

Vivo has now launched the Vivo V80 FE in the Philippines, introducing a new addition to its V-series range of smartphones by way of a mid-high-end phone. The smartphone has been spotted on the official website of the company in the Philippines, which has detailed its design, specifications, camera setup, and color options. However, the company has yet to reveal the price and sale date of the smartphone.

The announcement is made after the smartphone was seen on various certification websites, such as certification websites in Indonesia and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India. The certification on those platforms had hinted at an international launch of the smartphone. Although Vivo has now officially launched the smartphone in the Philippines, the listing of the smartphone on the BIS website in India raises speculation about an upcoming launch of the smartphone in India.

The Vivo V80 FE is essentially a successor to the Vivo V70 FE and brings a new MediaTek chipset, updated camera setup co-developed with ZEISS, and latest OriginOS operating system. The smartphone also has a high battery capacity along with fast-charging capability.

Vivo V80 FE Specifications and Performance

Firstly, performance-wise, the Vivo V80 FE is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400-Turbo processor. The chipset is complemented with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. As a point of comparison, the Vivo V70 FE has the Dimensity 7360-Turbo chipset. The latter is likely to offer better performance, but we will see how it works in practice.

When it comes to the display, the phone has a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution. The display can handle up to 120Hz refresh rates, providing fast scrolling, animations, and better experience while gaming. In addition, Vivo claims that the device's display has a high brightness potential – up to 3,000 nits local peak brightness and 1,800 nits High Brightness Mode (HBM).

The display of the Vivo V80 FE turns out to be smaller than its predecessor's. Indeed, the Vivo V70 FE has a bigger 6.83-inch panel with peak brightness reaching 1,900 nits. Thus, users who prefer bigger displays will have to go for the previous generation of phones.

7,000mAh Battery With 90W Fast Charging

Another remarkable feature of the Vivo V80 FE is its battery. The smartphone is equipped with a huge 7,000mAh BlueVolt battery which should enable users to use it for a long time without recharging. No matter whether users watch movies, play games, check their social media accounts, and use navigation applications, they should be able to enjoy the extended autonomy owing to the powerful battery of the device.

As regards charging the device, it should be noted that the smartphone can be charged with the help of 90W FlashCharge technology. It means that users will be able to charge it much quicker than they used to do before because the conventional charging technologies were not so efficient.

Besides, to prevent overheating of the device while it is performing heavy tasks, the Vivo V80 FE is equipped with a huge 4,666mm² vapour chamber cooling system. This system should help users prevent overheating during their long gaming sessions. Importantly, the parameters of the battery and its charging are identical to those of the Vivo V70 FE.

Another feature of the device is its water and dust resistance. To be precise, the smartphone has IP68 and IP69 ratings of protection.

Vivo V80 FE Camera Features ZEISS Triple Camera Setup

Another of the most significant aspects where Vivo is emphasizing the V80 FE is its photography. This smartphone sports a triple-camera setup that is the result of the collaboration between Vivo and ZEISS and brings various features related to portrait photography and AI cameras.

Specifically, the back-facing camera setup consists of a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization, a 50MP ultra wide angle camera with autofocus, as well as another, third, camera of which no information about specifications was provided in the official description. As for the front camera, it includes a 50MP camera optimized for selfies and video calls.

One notable difference here is the primary camera resolution. While the Vivo V70 FE has a 200MP camera, the new model sports a 50MP primary camera instead. While at first glance this change may seem like a demotion, the number of megapixels per se does not say much about camera quality.

Portraits have become one of the priorities of Vivo. 50MP front camera offers users the possibility of shooting portraits in three different focal lengths (23mm, 35mm, and 50mm). Users will be able to shoot their portraits and selfies in a number of different ways.

There are also some other features related to cameras in Vivo V80 FE. Among those there are ZEISS Style Bokeh, AI Aura Light Portrait 2.0, AI 3D Studio Lighting 2.0, Creative Fisheye Mode, AI Creative Camera effects, and Creative Sticker Collage. Those can be useful for people who like creating new photographs and making something on social networks.

It is also worth mentioning that there is 4K video support at the rear and front cameras. That could make the phone very interesting for video shooters.

Vivo V80 FE Design and Colour Options

In addition to its specifications, Vivo has also announced the design and colour variants of the V80 FE. The smartphone will come in two colour variants: Sparkling Gold and Chill Green.

As per Vivo, Sparkling Gold design has been inspired by the fireworks lighting up the sky at night. Chill Green, on the other hand, has been inspired by fresh leaves.

The two colour variants offer consumers the option to choose from a striking design variant or something relatively subtle. Details about the exact measurements and weight of the phone have not been provided by Vivo yet in its listing.

OriginOS 7.0 Based on Android 17

On the software aspect, the Vivo V80 FE comes with OriginOS 7.0 built atop the Android 17 operating system. This indicates that users would be getting the latest Android operating system along with Vivo's custom operating system.

This combination of the latest Android operating system and OriginOS is likely to come with new system features and interface updates. Unfortunately, there has been no word from Vivo regarding the upgrade policies and security patches for the Android operating system on this smartphone.

Vivo V80 FE India Launch and Expected Availability

Despite Vivo V80 FE being officially available on the Vivo Philippines website, the company has not yet disclosed any information regarding the price and availability of this smartphone. This phone appearing on certification websites in Indonesia and India implies that Vivo could be planning for an international launch.

Certification from BIS is especially notable for Indian consumers as it implies that the phone has been listed in India’s regulatory certification database. It is important to note that certification does not necessarily indicate an actual India launch.

There is no information regarding whether the phone will come to India in specifications similar to the one found in Philippines.

Based on the specifications mentioned so far, the Vivo V80 FE seems to be a smartphone aimed at customers who want a premium mid-range device with an emphasis on its photographic capabilities, battery capacity, display, and software. The combination of its Dimensity 7400-Turbo chipset, 120Hz AMOLED display, 7,000mAh battery, 90W fast charger, and ZEISS cameras makes the device a versatile addition to Vivo's V series.

At the same time, the ultimate value proposition of the device largely depends on its pricing. Transitioning from a 200MP camera on the V70 FE to a 50MP one on the V80 FE is also a factor to take into consideration, although the actual quality of the cameras will be seen during real-life testing.

As for Vivo V70 FE owners, the V80 FE does not seem to be necessary to upgrade, especially if their current smartphones perform decently. Those who plan to get a premium mid-range smartphone can take into account the Vivo V80 FE when Vivo finally reveals its price.

Currently, the Vivo V80 FE has been officially introduced in the Philippines, and its India release date is still unknown.
