Users should also keep in mind that a rollout schedule does not necessarily mean every eligible device will receive the update on the same day.

How to Check and Download HyperOS 4 Update

HyperOS 4 will be delivered to the user's device using the usual over-the-air (OTA) update system. Users are supposed to get an update notification once the new HyperOS is available. But still, one can check for software updates without any notifications.

For this purpose, go to the Settings app in your Xiaomi, Redmi, or POCO phone. In the list of options, select About Phone. Then tap the big HyperOS logo, and a window with information about software updates will open. The system will search Xiaomi's servers for updates, and if there are updates available for your model and location, you can download and install them immediately.

It is highly recommended to make sure that before the update process, you have enough storage space and battery level, and your device is connected to the Wi-Fi network.

HyperOS 4 Features and What's New

The latest iteration of HyperOS 4 is not a common software upgrade from Xiaomi as the company has brought some changes to improve the visual performance of the operating system. Although the new version has built on the features of HyperOS 3, the major changes that Xiaomi has made include an enhanced interface design and the use of AI technology.

There have been many visual upgrades to the new OS, one of which is Soft Light Glass. This is an updated interface design that looks like glass and consists of layered cards and dynamic lighting. Some interface elements show lights when pressed and held. For instance, home screen folders will show better visual effects.

Customization is yet another aspect that is being improved by HyperOS 4. Xiaomi will be adding new clock styles as well as providing more flexibility for lock screen resizing. This will give the user more control over the way they display their information on lock screens to ensure a personalized experience. In addition to that, in the case of home screens, the new update will introduce stacked widgets. Users will be able to group their widgets in a single place on their phone screens. This way they will be able to see more information while keeping their home screens organized.

There is a need to increase the performance in this version of HyperOS. The new update includes the updated HyperCore engine that will decrease the amount of instructions needed to perform tasks, increase application launches speed, optimize memory management and decrease the amount of frames that are dropped during this process. In addition to that, users will experience increased performance in case of switching between applications, browsing, menu opening and multitasking.

Multitasking too gets some new updates. HyperOS 4 comes with smooth animations of floating windows, better transition between portrait and landscape modes, and better cross-device features. These upgrades should be especially handy for people who tend to switch between different apps or use Xiaomi tablets and phones in tandem. The aim is to provide an even more unified user experience among all connected devices from Xiaomi.

Artificial intelligence is another key point of this new software. Xiaomi has made its Recorder app much smarter. This application is able not only to record voices but can also automatically create an outline of the discussion and make a summary of it. This app can highlight the important points of the recording and skip silent parts, thus making the long recordings easier to look through. Moreover, the AI Voice Notes application has also become more sophisticated. Now one can insert pictures into the notes, and the software will extract the most important conclusions and make a to-do list.

Xiaomi is also promising noticeable improvements to its built-in system applications. According to the company, the Gallery app can deliver up to 90% faster photo scanning and scrolling, making it easier to navigate large photo libraries. The Camera application is also expected to benefit from quicker HDR processing and faster cold-start times, helping users capture photos more quickly. Alongside these improvements, general system responsiveness is expected to receive a boost.

HyperOS 4 looks like a meaningful upgrade for Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO users, particularly those who want a smoother software experience and a refreshed interface. Instead of focusing entirely on introducing radical new features, Xiaomi appears to be prioritising everyday usability through improved animations, better multitasking, advanced customisation, and deeper AI integration.

The good news is that the rollout is scheduled to cover a wide range of smartphones and tablets, including older flagship models and popular Redmi Note and POCO devices. With the global rollout beginning in November and expected to finish by the end of December 2026, eligible users should start receiving the update over the coming weeks.
