OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra Brings Massive 8600mAh Battery and 165FPS Gaming Power

While the smartphone world remains obsessed with making minor improvements, it seems that OnePlus is betting big on maximizing its flagship device’s gaming capabilities with the new OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra. Expected to be unveiled on April 28 in China, the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra is already turning out to be one of the most powerful smartphones that OnePlus has ever made. With consistent hints from the company through their social media platforms, it is evident that OnePlus does not view the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra as an ordinary flagship device but rather as a specialized gadget for gaming enthusiasts.

The core component of the above-stated strategy is a particularly notable characteristic of the smartphone its gigantic 8,600mAh battery. In times when most leading models have capacities of about 5,000mAh, this is certainly a bold step forward. The brand promises that the battery will allow for up to seven hours of uninterrupted gaming per single charge, which, should it be true, is definitely a record-breaking achievement in the niche. Another remarkable quality of the battery is its ability to be charged in just 10 minutes by 120W fast charging technology, thus ensuring at least two hours of gaming time. To make sure everything works flawlessly, there is also a specially designed “Energy Concentration” chip developed by OPPO.

The aggressiveness in adopting this battery technology is indicative of another emerging trend within the sector. The modern smartphone is not merely concerned with its ability to provide the best performance but also with its ability to deliver sustained performance. Some of the competing devices that are doing this include Redmi K90 Max, which comes with an equally monstrous battery capacity (8,550mAh) paired with a strong chip like Dimensity 9500 SoC and even an innovative cooling system that comes in the form of fans.

It is only when it comes to gaming that this device really starts to stand out. OnePlus officially confirms support for 165 fps gaming, combined with a 165 Hz display, placing it in top-tier territory in the realm of mobile gaming. The presence of a 4,000 Hz touch sampling rate, thanks to the specially designed Lingxi chip, implies that OnePlus is taking touchscreen response seriously as much as frame rates. With a separate G2 Pro Wi-Fi chip and a full-fledged 360-degree antenna setup, it can be inferred that OnePlus aims at competitive gamers.

The visual aspect is equally well thought through. It will have an OLED screen with a resolution of 1.5K from BOE that supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision as well as full DCI-P3 gamut. With all these aspects, the product is not just fast but also visually engaging. Even though all these features can be considered advantageous from the point of view of games, they also prove useful for the purposes of consuming various types of media content.

Apart from performance and visual appeal, OnePlus plans to give the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra several high-end features to cement its position as a flagship device. The device has been certified for various durability levels, such as IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K, ensuring protection from dust and water ingress. Besides, the phone will come with an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, and will be running ColorOS 16 based on Android 16. In terms of design, OnePlus plans to embrace a gaming theme with finishes such as "Ace Awakening," which comes with 3D lighting, and "Metal Storm."

Additionally, OnePlus will be releasing an exclusive gaming controller with the new device, the Strix G15. Featuring shoulder triggers and a comfortable grip, the controller will make controlling the game much easier when engaging in prolonged gaming sessions.

Overall, the OnePlus Ace 6 Ultra appears to be an intentional move by OnePlus to establish itself in the flagship market segment while catering exclusively to the needs of gamers and power users. While the phone’s capabilities will surely appeal to these individuals once implemented successfully, they will come across as unnecessary for regular use in many people’s eyes. The inclusion of ultra-fast refresh rates, specialized hardware, and other such features will certainly appeal to enthusiasts but will be too much for most other people to justify owning the device.

In some ways, OnePlus’s Ace 6 Ultra is trying to target every user type without actually succeeding, but perhaps that is also its greatest virtue.
