OPPO has officially teased the Reno 16 series in India, confirming the arrival of the Reno 16c, Bubble accessory, and Enco Air 5. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming Reno phones, including design, display, camera, battery, and expected India launch details.

The company has formally begun hinting at the arrival of the next OPPO Reno lineup in India. This means that the OPPO Reno 16 lineup is soon coming into the market. The reason why this teaser holds importance is not only due to the fact that it hints at OPPO’s next mid-premium phone release but also due to the ecosystem hint from the company. In addition to the Reno 16 lineup, the company has also hinted at the upcoming Reno 16c, Bubble accessory, and OPPO Enco Air 5 in the Indian market. Although no launch date has been announced by OPPO as of now, it can be seen through the teaser that OPPO is ready to play its next major card in the market.
This teaser of India follows the leak of Reno 16 lineup as news surrounding its global launch in countries like Malaysia and Indonesia has been reported. The time of this news becomes relevant here since it indicates that OPPO is planning a relatively fast expansion into India as opposed to leaving the consumers waiting for months after its international launch. OPPO has already created a microsite for the Reno 16 lineup indicating that the device is available to purchase online and Amazon India will become one of the retailers for it. This alone means that the company is prepared to start the hype around its upcoming launch and OPPO uses launch offers for this purpose.
Along with the Reno 16, OPPO is also offering a Rs 9 privilege pack that is meant to lure potential customers into the funnel prior to the release of the phones. The privilege pack comprises a coupon for Rs 800 as exchange bonus, Rs 1,000 off the OPPO Pad SE, a pair of OPPO Enco Buds 3 Pro earphones, and one phone case for Reno 16 series. It's a well-known trick of smartphones in India – make the teaser exciting, throw in some low-cost privilege, and give the sense of value before the price has even been mentioned. If the price of the upcoming Reno 16 series turns out to be decent, the privilege pack can prove to be quite a good addition.
Nevertheless, the most intriguing aspect of the teaser from OPPO is not necessarily the smartphone itself, but the OPPO Bubble. It is an auxiliary circular screen that can be attached to the back of the phone and features a live feed from its camera, which would allow users to use the rear camera set-up and shoot selfies instead of using the front camera of the phone. In the crowded world of smartphone accessories, where most of them seem like gimmicks, at least this one does serve a purpose. The rear camera is much more effective than the selfie camera in terms of picture quality, dynamic range, and portraits, and this auxiliary device will make it easier for users to take selfies via the rear camera. Therefore, if OPPO markets this gadget right and packages it with promotional deals, it might be one of the selling points for the Reno 16 series in India.
When it comes to the phone itself, OPPO has already said quite a lot about both the OPPO Reno 16 and the OPPO Reno 16c prior to their release. The new lineup will come in Starry White, Twilight Violet, and Stellar Purple colors. In addition to that, OPPO will also debut its 3D Pop Planet Design on the Starry White version of the Reno 16 range, which will feature OPPO’s proprietary HoloVerse 3D Technology. Historically, OPPO’s Reno models relied on their design and finishing a lot, which made them unique among their peers in the middle class segment. Therefore, it’s no wonder OPPO decided to use aesthetics as an important selling point once again.
But that's not all – the Reno 16 lineup seems poised to introduce a hardware shortcut dedicated to artificial intelligence under the name of AI Snap Key. It looks like it's OPPO's attempt to catch up with the trend of AI keys and quick smart tools, which, as I said before, is rather popular in some brands' flagships, especially OnePlus devices, which offer AI Plus Key feature. As OPPO claims, the feature will let you store content in something called Mind Space, where all the necessary information will be organized and accessible afterwards. And although it may seem interesting at first sight and potentially useful, because there's an opportunity to store screenshots, notes, reminders, links, suggestions for trips or any other kind of information without manually organizing anything, its effectiveness largely depends on Mind Space performance in everyday usage.
As far as the display is concerned, it seems that OPPO might be taking two different approaches with the Reno 16 and the Reno 16c. It is known that the standard OPPO Reno 16 will have a 6.32-inch FHD+ AMOLED display that will support 120Hz refresh rates and will have an impressive maximum brightness of 1,800 nits. The thing is that a screen of that size will attract attention due to the fact that small-sized smartphones are quite a rare breed among similar devices. Thus, the Reno 16 will appeal to all those people who are tired of having a bulky phone yet would like to have a premium look and some cutting-edge features. As for the Reno 16c, it should have a larger 6.57-inch AMOLED screen which, just like the former model, will support FHD+ and 120Hz refresh rates, though the maximum brightness will be less – 1,400 nits.
Durability is yet another aspect in which OPPO appears determined to create a positive impact. Both the phones boast of having been given IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, together with aerospace-grade aluminium body, splash touch, and glove touch capabilities. That makes for quite an impressive list when we consider that these are meant to be part of the mid-range Reno line. In terms of their performance, all these ratings mean that they have greater durability than most other competitors in the same class of devices.
Speaking of the actual structure of the lineup that will be launched in India, OPPO hasn't officially confirmed all of its models at the moment, but indications show that the Reno 16 and the Reno 16c will be the two main smartphones in the first lineup of phones. And especially the Reno 16c seems like the smartphone that is going to have a broader appeal and be a little bit more affordable. This is because it is believed to resemble a lot the Reno 16F smartphone that was released in other countries worldwide, as long as OPPO wants to make the same development but with regional branding in mind.
With the rumored specs being accurate, the Reno 16c looks like an interesting offering in the higher mid-range category. It is expected to have the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, together with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. This means it is well-positioned to offer good day-to-day performance, app performance, and reasonable gaming performance without trying to go head-to-head with the more performance-focused offerings by brands such as iQOO and POCO. After all, the Reno lineups from OPPO have never really cared much about beating other devices on the benchmarking side. They generally try to achieve a good balance of performance, design, decent camera work, and software features.
Camera specifications of the Reno 16c could become its major selling point. The new phone is expected to be equipped with a main 50MP camera with OIS support, telephoto 50MP camera with 3.5x optical zoom and 8MP ultra-wide sensor at the rear panel as well as a 50MP selfie cam on the front side. Should the mentioned setup be confirmed, the telephoto camera will provide Reno 16c with an edge over other middle-range competitors, using macro or depth cameras instead of actual telephoto lenses for their devices. A 3.5x telephoto camera isn’t something that you can usually see in a mainstream Reno “c” series device, but if OPPO is capable of making a good image processing on its basis, Reno 16c will be appealing to those, who are interested in photographic possibilities rather than in chipsets.
One aspect in which the Reno 16c seems appealing is battery capacity. It is expected that the handset will come with a 6,500mAh battery, supporting 45W SuperVOOC charging. This would be a very good combination when it comes to satisfying Indians, who are getting more concerned about battery capacity than camera quality. A 6,500mAh battery might turn the Reno 16c into a one-day or even two-day phone, depending on the user. Although 45W fast charging doesn't seem very impressive compared to other phones in the market that go above 100W, it would satisfy the needs of most users.
As a whole, it seems the Reno 16c will make for the more versatile choice of the two, being that the display is bigger, the cameras are more flexible, and there’s great battery life on offer without going into the realm of flagships. The regular Reno 16 will likely become the better choice among the two if you’re the kind of user that prefers compactness and is willing to pay some extra money for that. Or, put differently, it appears that OPPO has chosen to split the Reno 16 series into two distinct groups – one with compact styling and the other with more classic large-screen mid-rangers.
Nevertheless, there is one problem that may affect the Reno 16 family in the Indian market. The Reno 15 line was just recently released, and this factor makes consumers think whether the new line of Reno phones will be premature. The trend in the market of mobile phones is that the refresh period becomes smaller, and brands can undermine their own lineup with premature release of a product update. This is the reason why OPPO will have to pay attention not only to specifications but also to the pricing of the new smartphones. The new devices may still succeed if they are sold at reasonable prices and if there will be enough distinguishing features compared to other Reno devices or products by their competitors: Vivo, Motorola, OnePlus, and Xiaomi.
For the time being, the teaser has served its purpose: it has ensured that the OPPO Reno 16 series India launch will be one worth looking forward to. It looks like OPPO is hoping that their combination of style, versatility in terms of camera options, AI-oriented features, increased durability, and ecosystem features can help them keep the Reno line relevant. The Bubble accessory certainly seems to add an element of fun while serving a practical purpose at the same time, the Reno 16 offers a relatively uncommon compact choice, and the Reno 16c might turn out to be the more well-rounded mainstream offering should the leaked specifications prove true. All that is currently left to know is when the official India launch for the device will take place and most importantly what the price will be.
