What You need to Know
OPPO Reno 16 series officially launching in China on May 25 with Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro models.
Reno 16 Pro could feature a massive 7,000mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.
Both phones are tipped to include a 200MP primary camera, 50MP ultrawide, and 50MP periscope telephoto lens.
India launch expected between June and July as Reno 16 Pro already appears on BIS certification database.

OPPO has recently announced that the long-expected Reno 16 series from OPPO will be officially launched in China on May 25, but initial information reveals that it may become one of the most significant Reno lineups that OPPO can offer nowadays. In particular, OPPO is likely to start with the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro models, with some others like the Reno 16 Pro Mini and Reno 16C appearing in international markets soon after, including in India.
While OPPO's Reno series always tended to emphasize its stylish look and advanced camera functionality, the new generation of Reno smartphones seems to go further thanks to massive batteries, flagship camera sensors, more durable design, and updated MediaTek silicon chips. If leaks prove to be right, OPPO will finally make a step towards reducing the difference between the Reno lineup and flagships.

OPPO Reno 16 Could Target Compact Phone Buyers
What also stands out about the upcoming Reno 16 range is the fact that OPPO still seems committed to targeting customers who prefer relatively small smartphone designs. According to recent leaks, the standard Reno 16 model will ship with a 6.32-inch 1.5K flat OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate. This display size will make the Reno 16 much smaller than many of the currently available Android phones, but at the same time featuring high-end specifications.
The handset might be powered by the Dimensity 8550 chipset developed by MediaTek. It won't be a flagship-class chip but still capable of delivering decent gaming, AI, multitasking and battery life improvements over its predecessor. For instance, it might perform very similarly to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC.
Another potential advantage offered by this phone will be the small body size together with the generous battery capacity. In fact, there have been rumors indicating that the Reno 16 will offer a huge 6,700 mAh battery and support for 80W fast charging technology. This would make the new Reno phone significantly better than its competitors in this regard.
Reno 16 Pro Could Deliver Near-Flagship Hardware
On the other hand, the OPPO Reno 16 Pro will also step further toward becoming a flagship phone. According to leaks, the Reno 16 Pro will have a much larger 6.78-inch 1.5K flat OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and thinner edges to create a more expensive-looking display.
According to rumors, the phone could use MediaTek's latest Dimensity 9500s chipset that could significantly enhance gaming capabilities of the device as well as boost AI processing capabilities and efficiency of the chip. If true, Reno 16 Pro will end up among the most powerful Reno phones from OPPO in terms of processing power.
Furthermore, the phone can get a huge 7,000 mAh battery, paired with 80-watt wired charging and even 50-watt wireless charging capability. Typically, wireless charging is an exclusive function of premium flagships, but now OPPO plans to give it to one of their mid-ranger devices.
Camera Setup Could Be the Biggest Highlight
It is believed that cameras will keep being among the key selling points of the Reno 16 lineup. According to various rumors, the Reno 16 and the Reno 16 Pro might offer the same cutting-edge triple camera module.
This main sensor will allegedly be a high-end 200 MP Samsung HP5 camera equipped with optical image stabilization that should deliver better detail, performance in low light, and zoom capabilities. Apart from that, users might get access to a 50MP ultrawide shooter and 50MP periscope telephoto camera equipped with OIS.
If OPPO manages to do everything right when optimizing the photo processing process, the Reno 16 lineup might prove to be among the best camera phones in its segment. The use of periscope telephoto camera is quite remarkable as such technology is rare even on flagships. As for selfies, both the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro models should offer users a front-facing camera with a resolution of 50 MP.

Premium Design and New Snap Key Feature Expected
In terms of design changes, OPPO is allegedly planning several modifications that can ensure its Reno 16 range becomes even more premium when compared to its predecessors. Leaks indicate that the new devices can have metal construction as well as IP69 certification that allows for enhanced water and dust protection.
Furthermore, there are plans to include a new “Snap Key” that is supposed to operate similarly to Plus Key used on recent OnePlus smartphones. This customized shortcut button can enable quick access to features like camera, flashlight, silent mode, screenshots, AI capabilities, or other system tools.
Such minor change in design can not only increase usability but also set the new range of Reno devices apart from competitors.
OPPO Reno 16 Series India Launch Timeline
Although OPPO has not officially revealed the launch date for the device range in India, rumors have emerged about its launch in India from mid-June to early July. However, indicators regarding the imminent launch of the OPPO Reno 16 range have already emerged since Reno 16 Pro with model CPH2863 has been discovered on the Indian BIS certification website.
BIS entries generally point to the readiness of launch preparations, thus indicating that OPPO is getting ready to launch the devices in India soon enough.
Currently, leaks reveal that OPPO could be bringing multiple variations in the Reno 16 line-up, namely, Reno 16C, Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro Mini, and Reno 16 Pro.
For current Reno smartphone users who own phones belonging to the Reno 14 series or even previous models, the Reno 16 series can prove to be quite an improvement. Better battery capacity, improved display technology, better processing chips, fast charging, and even better cameras are among the things that can enhance usability for consumers.
Yet, Reno 15 smartphone users might have to wait for the official prices and perhaps some performance reviews before deciding to purchase new phones. With this generation of the Reno brand having done quite well in terms of hardware upgrades, the ultimate appeal of the new series will ultimately boil down to pricing.
The Reno range has traditionally been somewhere between average and high-end smartphones, but the upcoming Reno 16 line might turn out to be quite different. With expected innovations such as 200 MP cameras, periscope optical zoom lenses, 7,000 mAh batteries, wireless charging, IP69 water resistance, and advanced MediaTek SoCs, OPPO seems determined to raise its Reno range's game considerably in 2026.
In case the devices are priced aggressively by the company, they have the potential to become the talk of the year in the Android smartphone market segment. Especially since they will cater well to the demands of Indian and Chinese consumers with their battery capabilities and excellent cameras.
