POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Global Launch Date Confirmed for September 1

POCO has confirmed the global launch of the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra for September 1. Here’s everything we know about their expected specifications, cameras, battery, pricing and India availability.

POCO F9 Pro

POCO has finally made the announcement about the release date of its latest generation of the flagship smartphones of the F-series. The POCO F9 Pro and POCO F9 Ultra are expected to see the world for the first time on September 1st, with the brand getting back into the performance smartphone niche again since the global release of the POCO F8 series took place last year. It should be noted that the brand seems to skip the basic version of the F9 for some reason because there is no information about the potential launch of the regular model.

The global release of the new phones is expected on September 1st at 8 pm GMT, which means that 1:30 am of September 2nd is when the brand is planning the Indian launch. The teaser provided by POCO shows us the two devices in the white and dark red colors. The latter one looks almost like the Cabernet Sauvignon color option of Xiaomi's Redmi K100 series.

POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Could Be Redmi K100 Series Rebrands

The F-series smartphones from POCO have always been closely tied to Xiaomi’s Redmi flagship series. It is also the case with the upcoming F9 series, which is expected to be inspired by the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max models, released in China earlier this month.

But this does not seem to be the only thing that POCO F9 phones will take inspiration from their Redmi counterparts. The teasers have revealed designs that are very similar to the rear panels of the Redmi K100 series. Moreover, the devices will feature the "Sound by Bose" label.

That said, it is likely that the upcoming POCO flagships will feature the same Bose-tuned audio experience as the Redmi K100 models.

While the F8 Pro and F8 Ultra phones were launched globally back in November 2025, neither of them was made available in India. As a result, the POCO F7 remains the most recent F-series smartphone sold in India.

POCO has yet to confirm whether the upcoming F9 Pro or F9 Ultra model would launch in India or not. However, this can be quite important for Indians, given the recent trend followed by the company.

POCO F9 Pro Expected Specifications

According to the rumored specs, the POCO F9 Pro will have a 6.59 inches QHD+ Plastic OLED screen featuring a record-breaking 185Hz refresh rate. If the specs are indeed true, the new handset can potentially be marketed as a flagship phone aimed at people who value good performance.

Speaking of performance, the phone will likely have Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor onboard. Nevertheless, there are also claims suggesting that the device will use the less powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V model. The processor details will become known after the launch of the handset.

When it comes to photography, the POCO F9 Pro is reported to get a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, an 8MP ultrawide shooter, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom and optical image stabilization. The POCO F9 Pro will thus boast a more advanced camera system than regular performance phones.

POCO F9 Ultra Could Take Things Further

The POCO F9 Ultra is predicted to be the superior version of the two models, equipped with a screen size of 6.85 inches. The screen will reportedly feature a 2608×1200 resolution, making it appropriate for games, multimedia content and other intensive applications.

In addition, the Ultra version will reportedly be driven by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5; however, the details of its specification have not been confirmed officially by POCO. It is predicted that there will be an upgraded camera module featuring a 50MP main shooter, a 50MP ultrawide lens and 50MP telephoto lens with 5x zoom.

The inclusion of a 5x telephoto camera might make the POCO F9 Ultra a very appealing device for users who need an advanced camera module without sacrificing zoom functionality.

Huge Battery Upgrade

The upcoming POCO F9 series can also offer an impressive upgrade in terms of battery capacity. The rumored specifications reveal that the POCO F9 Pro can house a 6,330mAh battery, and the F9 Ultra can even include a massive 8,050mAh battery. Moreover, the two models should be compatible with 100W wired charging technology.

In case you do not know, the POCO F8 Pro was equipped with a 6,210mAh battery, and the F8 Ultra got a 6,500mAh cell. Therefore, if the rumors about the new models prove to be true, the F9 Ultra can bring a significant upgrade in terms of battery capacity.

A huge 8,050mAh battery coupled with the Snapdragon chipset can make the F9 Ultra very interesting for power users and gaming fans. However, actual battery life of the smartphone depends on many other factors like screen settings, software optimization, and cooling system.

Pricing Could Be the Biggest Question

It is known that POCO has always been a brand that delivers the highest specifications with very aggressive pricing, yet consumers may not be looking to expect the same type of pricing when it comes to the F9 series. The scarcity of memory chip components as well as other factors which contribute to the increasing cost of smartphones in general may prevent POCO and other smartphone brands to deliver the same level of pricing seen previously.

Yet, if POCO succeeds to keep the price down, the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra will have what it takes to become good alternatives to premium smartphones manufactured by OnePlus, Xiaomi and Samsung due to their high-end processors, refresh rate screens, high-capacity batteries and camera systems.

However, it should be noted that specifications say nothing about the actual performance. Buyers should not expect anything until there are proper reviews done on these devices after their release.

Will POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra Launch in India?

For Indian consumers, the biggest uncertainty is availability. POCO skipped India with both the F8 Pro and F8 Ultra, so there is currently no guarantee that either F9 model will arrive in the country.

Instead, POCO has been expanding its X-series lineup in India. The POCO X8 Pro Max has already become the company’s most expensive smartphone in the country, with a price of Rs 42,999. The company is also preparing to introduce two more X-series smartphones in India, reportedly the POCO X8 and POCO X8 Power.

This means Indian buyers interested in the POCO F9 Pro or F9 Ultra may have to wait for a separate announcement before assuming that either phone will be sold locally.

POCO F9 Series Launch Is Worth Watching

The POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra seem like they will be interesting flagship smartphones, especially if the leaked specifications turn out to be true. From extremely high refresh rate screens, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processors, to 100W fast charging and potentially huge batteries, both smartphones seem like they will offer some high-end performance.

A September 1 worldwide release date will determine what the official specifications, prices and availability in the market will be. For Indian consumers, though, the most important announcement is likely to be whether POCO will finally bring back its F-series flagship line to India. Before that, the leaked specifications and price details are unofficial.
