Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra

The Galaxy Tab S12 family of Samsung tablets, which includes Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, have been officially added to the Samsung range of tablets. These new additions to the range come with upgraded processors, enhanced Galaxy AI, and the latest version of Samsung’s One UI software experience. These tablets are for those users who wish to work and learn using a big screen tablet and have been designed keeping in view these requirements with an added benefit of an S Pen for drawing and writing purposes.

The Samsung tablet series is launched as a successor to the Galaxy Tab S11 range, which included Samsung’s latest premium tablet hardware and was launched in India with a starting price of Rs 74,999. While focusing more on performance and AI-enabled productivity rather than changing the whole design of their hardware, Samsung has come up with these new tablets.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ Specifications

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is the bigger version among the two models. It boasts an impressive 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen. On the other hand, the Galaxy Tab S12+ is equipped with a 12.6-inch screen, hence smaller in size yet still offering sufficient screen space for productivity and leisure. Both gadgets feature a 120Hz refresh rate, which is likely to offer smooth scrolling, animations, and stylus interactions.

According to the Samsung Corporation, the displays of the two models offer a maximum brightness of up to 1,600 nits, which makes them appropriate for use even in bright places. Additionally, the large AMOLED screens will be quite beneficial to creative workers since they require ample screen real estate to work with images, drawings, documents, or several apps at once.

As far as specifications are concerned, both gadgets run on MediaTek's 3nm Dimensity 9500 chipset. According to Samsung, the new processor has a 19 percent increased CPU performance, 17 percent improved GPU performance, and a 61 percent enhanced NPU processing compared to the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. This is important considering that the Galaxy AI features have been significantly expanded in these Samsung devices.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra Gets an 11,600mAh Battery

Both devices have good battery capacity. Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra boasts an 11,600mAh battery. In contrast, the Galaxy Tab S12+ is characterized by a slightly smaller battery, measuring 10,600mAh. In accordance with Samsung, the former offers up to 23 hours of battery life, whereas the latter is able to last up to 21 hours.

Both devices are equipped with 45W fast charging technology; however, it is worth mentioning that the company did not improve its specification from the previous-generation Tab S11 Ultra. With regard to the battery capacity, the two tablets are likely to serve well for prolonged work sessions, studying, media consumption, and other activities that will not require constant recharging.

The Tab S12 series has received an IP68 rating for water and dust protection. Finally, both devices are equipped with quad speakers and allow increasing storage capacity via a microSD slot with a maximum capacity of 2TB.

Android 17 and Expanded Galaxy AI Features

The third aspect of Samsung's upgrade in relation to the Galaxy Tab S12 family includes software upgrades. Both models have Android 17-based One UI 9, thus giving the latest software interface by Samsung for its top-tier tablets.

The new Galaxy AI functions have been developed with productivity and multitasking in mind. For example, Samsung introduced features like AI summary of notes which lets you quickly find necessary information among the longer ones. The devices have support for three-way multitasking via a split screen, thus providing even more productivity opportunities.

With the incorporation of Google Gemini into the lineup, Samsung's Tab S12 family offers even more functions related to AI technology. The combination of Galaxy AI and Gemini will make this tablet not just a consumption device, but rather a productive one.

S Pen and Adobe Photoshop Support

Both the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ include an S Pen stylus, which plays a crucial role in making Samsung's top-end tablet lineup unique. The pen can be used for writing notes by hand, creating drawings, annotating documents as well as interacting with compatible apps.

Moreover, Adobe Photoshop will be pre-installed into Samsung tablets, and using the S Pen while working with images is expected. Thus, such a combination of the big screen, a powerful processor and stylus might make the Tab S12 devices attractive for artists, designers and other creatives who enjoy working on a touchscreen device.

The preloaded Photoshop software adds professional touches to tablets as well.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra vs Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra: What's New?

While the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is concerned, the newly released Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra does not significantly alter the hardware specifications that are considered the basic building blocks of this model.

To be precise, the new Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra still features a 14.6-inch display screen and 11,600mAh battery with 45W fast charging capability just like its predecessor.

Samsung has made some substantial modifications concerning software and processing power, however. While switching to the Dimensity 9500 processor has enhanced CPU, GPU and NPU performance capabilities, One UI 9 and the updated Galaxy AI software have brought about additional features for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra.

The Galaxy Tab S12+ differs from the standard Galaxy Tab S11 in terms of display size; the Galaxy Tab S12+ comes with a bigger 12.6-inch display screen whereas the standard Galaxy Tab S11 only has an 11-inch one.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Series India Price and Availability

Samsung has not released any information regarding the India price or release date of the Galaxy Tab S12 series as of yet. However, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra variant with 256 GB storage has been listed on Samsung's official India website, indicating that the tablet may soon go on sale in the country.

For a quick comparison, the price of the Galaxy Tab S11 Wi-Fi variant with 128 GB storage was Rs 74,999 when the tablet was launched in India. The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra came with a starting price of Rs 1,24,999 for the 256 GB Wi-Fi variant. While the price of the 512 GB Wi-Fi variant was Rs 1,41,999, the 512 GB 5G variant had a price of Rs 1,55,999.

This information can serve as reference to determine how expensive the new flagship tablets from Samsung might be in India; however, previous generations of tablets cannot be used as conclusive information for determining the price of the new tablets. This is because the Galaxy Tab S12 series would compete with Apple's iPad Pro range and other high-end tablets.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ Focus on Productivity

In line with its previous generations, the Galaxy Tab S12 series from Samsung will be seen as a multifunctional computing device rather than just an entertainment device for its users. With high refresh rate AMOLED displays, the inclusion of top of the range processors, support for S Pen and various multitasking capabilities, the productivity factor is definitely a priority for both models.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is definitely meant for the consumers who seek the biggest possible area for their creative endeavors and various tasks involving multitasking and professional applications. The 14.6-inch screen, big battery and bundled S Pen make the device perfect for those who regularly deal with different documents, graphics and applications.

The Galaxy Tab S12+ serves as a lighter alternative, keeping some of the top flagship features that the S12 Ultra has. The 12.6-inch display increases the working area compared to the regular Tab S11 while making the device more portable.

Samsung is also promising up to seven generations of OS upgrades, which could make the Tab S12 series more attractive to buyers planning to keep their tablets for several years. Ultimately, however, the Indian pricing will play an important role in determining how compelling the new tablets are compared with premium competitors such as Apple's iPad Pro range.

For now, the Galaxy Tab S12 series represents an evolution of Samsung's flagship tablet strategy, with the biggest improvements coming from the new Dimensity 9500 processor, expanded Galaxy AI functionality, updated software and stronger creative-tool integration rather than a major redesign of the hardware.
