Vivo has launched the Vivo Y51 Pro 5G smartphone in India, expanding its Y series. The mid-range segment in the Indian smartphone market is becoming increasingly competitive, and this new phone from Vivo has joined the ranks. Its specifications and key details were revealed a few days ago, and AndroBranch provided all the details. Now, the company has officially launched it in India.

This smartphone is specifically targeted at users who seek long battery life, robust build quality, and reliable performance. With a large battery, military-grade durability, and premium design, this phone is a promising new option in the price range of around ₹25,000. In this article, we'll explore the Vivo Y51 Pro 5G's price, features, design, battery, camera, processor, and software.

Vivo Y51 Pro 5G Pricing and Availability

Vivo has launched this smartphone in India in two storage variants. One with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage which will be priced at ₹24,999 and the other with 8GB RAM + 256GB storage which will be priced at ₹27,999. This smartphone will be available for sale in India from March 11. Customers will be able to buy it from Vivo's official website, Flipkart and authorized offline retail stores. Along with this, under launch offers, the company is giving cashback of up to Rs 2,500 to the customers who buy the handset before March 16. In terms of design, this phone has been introduced in Festive Red and Noble Gold color options.

Durable with Premium Design

The Vivo Y51 Pro 5G's design is inspired by the company's premium Vivo V70 series. The phone features a square camera module and flat-edge design, giving it a modern and premium look. But it's not just about design, it's also built on durability. The phone is IP68 and IP69 rated, meaning it's dust-resistant, immersible up to 1.5 meters, and even protected against high-pressure water jets. This feature is significant at this price point, as many competing phones, like the OnePlus Nord CE5 and Redmi Note 15, don't offer an IP68 rating. The phone also receives the SGS 5-Star Premium Performance Mark, demonstrating its drop resistance. According to the company, the smartphone has also been multi-angle drop tested from a height of 1.7 meters and comes with military-grade durability certification.

Big Battery and Connectivity

Speaking of its battery, the Vivo Y51 Pro 5G's biggest highlight is its 7,200mAh battery. This is one of the largest batteries available in this segment. This large battery can provide users with benefits like longer screen-on time, more video streaming, and longer gaming sessions. Interestingly, despite its large battery, the phone measures just 8.49mm thick and weighs 219 grams. This is made possible by Silicon-Carbon battery technology, which offers improved energy density and longer life. This technology allows power to be supplied directly to the phone during charging, reducing the strain on the battery and increasing its life. Vivo claims that this battery can last up to 6 years. It also features Vivo-developed battery health algorithms, battery life extender technology, and bypass charging. For charging, the phone supports 44W FlashCharge.

For connectivity, it has features like 5G, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.4, USB Type-C port and GPS. Apart from this, sensors like accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, e-compass and gyroscope are provided in the phone. For security, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone has dual stereo speakers which can boost the volume up to 400% and are powered by Super Audio algorithm, which provides a rich and impressive audio experience. This smartphone comes with a size of 166.6×78.4×8.39mm and weighs around 219 grams.

Processor and Performance

The Vivo Y51 Pro 5G is powered by the 4nm octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7360 processor, which, along with up to 8GB of RAM (expandable with an additional 8GB of extended RAM) and 128GB or 256GB of storage, allows the device to launch apps quickly. This is the same chipset that powered the Vivo V60e last year. While it's not the most powerful processor in its segment, it's sufficient for everyday tasks like social media, web browsing, video streaming, and light gaming. If you're a heavy-duty gamer or do heavy tasks, phones like the OnePlus Nord CE5 or Lava Agni 4 may be better options. It has four performance cores with a peak clock speed of 2.5GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. The phone also comes with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

Apart from this, the Vivo Y51 Pro 5G runs on OriginOS 16 based on Android 6. OriginOS is the software used in Vivo's flagship phones, so users can expect features like smooth interface, better animations, more customization and smart multitasking.

Camera Setup

The Vivo Y51 Pro 5G features a dual rear camera setup, consisting of a 50MP primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 2MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the phone has an 8MP front camera. The smartphone supports video recording at up to 4K resolution.

However, the camera specifications seem a bit mediocre compared to some other phones. Furthermore, it lacks the Zeiss branding that's seen on Vivo's more premium phones. Therefore, a true assessment of camera performance will only be possible after a detailed review.

Display and Multimedia

The Vivo Y51 Pro 5G features a 6.75-inch display with a brightness of up to 1250 nits, ensuring clear visibility even in bright sunlight. The display boasts of HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1250 nits peak brightness. The bezels on the phone are a bit thick, making it less appealing than some other smartphones in this price range. However, the display is TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certified, ensuring less eye strain. The phone also boasts dual stereo speakers with Super Audio Algorithms for enhanced multimedia experience.

The Vivo Y51 Pro 5G has emerged as an interesting smartphone in the mid-range segment. Its 7200mAh battery, IP68/IP69 rating, robust durability, and premium design make it stand out in many ways. However, the HD+ LCD display and basic camera setup may be a bit disappointing for some users.

Overall, this smartphone could be a good choice for users who want long battery life, sturdy build quality, and reliable performance.
