Aadhaar Email ID Update Now Possible Through Official App Without Visiting Aadhaar Centre

Aadhaar users can now update or add their email ID directly through the official Aadhaar App. UIDAI has made the service free until December 31, 2026, removing the need to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new facility wherein you can add/update your email ID directly via the official Aadhaar App, saving you the trouble of going to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra for the same. This new facility has been made available since July 1, 2026, and it will save a lot of time for thousands of Aadhaar holders.

The best part is that UIDAI has launched this facility at no cost for a limited time.

No More Aadhaar Centre Visits for Email ID Updates

Before, if one had to modify the email address associated with their Aadhaar card, then it was necessary for him or her to physically visit an Aadhaar enrolment or update center. Such a process entailed standing in lengthy queues, completing paper work, and wasting a lot of time for such a simple activity.

However, due to the recent update to the official Aadhaar App, the above process can now be carried out online. Indeed, one can now modify their email address through their phone irrespective of whether one uses an Android or an iPhone.

How to Update Your Aadhaar Email ID

Before beginning the process, it is advised to make sure that you have downloaded the latest version of the Aadhaar app from your phone's app store. The update is essential for the use of this new facility.

UIDAI Is Offering This Service Free Until December 31

In general, a payment of some kind needs to be made for an update on the information of the Aadhaar number holder. But here, in case of an update on email ID via the Aadhaar app, no service fee will be charged by the UIDAI during the given period.

All users who use the Aadhaar app for updating or adding their email ID from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 will not have to make any payments whatsoever. However, the fee waiver is only applicable in case of an update using the Aadhaar app.

Why Linking an Email ID With Aadhaar Is Important

Although the registered mobile phone is the most common way of authentication through Aadhaar, there are many advantages of registering one’s email address.
