DJI is set to unveil its newest model in the series of small cameras designed for creators. It has already begun teasing the upcoming product launch, with the release of the teaser video announcing the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 camera. Although the video is short and humorous, it conveys an unmistakable message: storage capacity will soon be greatly increased.

The video portrays an animated version of an Osmo Pocket-like camera consuming several microSD cards before walking off into the sunset. In addition, the image has the following caption written under it: “More storage. More stories.” This message hints at the significant expansion in the storage capacity of the new DJI Osmo Pocket 4 camera.
The date of the official product launch is set for April 16, 2026.
DJI Osmo Pocket 4 May Skip microSD Cards Completely
However, without DJI giving an official statement on what exactly the new model is going to be equipped with, we can only assume from various leaks that it might come with as much as 100GB of internal memory. If so, this will be a drastic change of policy on DJI’s part because all of its previous Pocket models were equipped only with microSD cards.
The teaser also hints at this assumption by demonstrating how much the camera is eating the microSD cards.
DJI is certainly not new to equipping their models with built-in memory as the company's action cameras such as the DJI Osmo Action 6 already have this feature along with support for microSD cards.
Why Built-In Storage Could Be a Big Upgrade
In-built storage has a number of benefits, particularly for videographers who record videos in high resolutions and fast movements. First and foremost, speed and reliability play an important role in this type of photography. In general, in-built storage offers better read/write speed compared to most microSD cards. As a result, it is less likely to experience frame drops, recording disruptions, and other technical issues.
Secondly, there are fewer complications related to working with the device itself. For example, a photographer does not need to use different microSD cards or format them. Instead, he or she will be able to rely on the device’s internal memory. It means that in this case, the videographer will be able to work much more quickly, without spending extra time on setting up the device.
It also fits perfectly into the Osmo Pocket family philosophy.
But Removing microSD Support Could Have Downsides
However, such a built-in storage system would come at a certain cost. Firstly, microSD cards are widely used due to their low price, ease of replacement, and limitless storage capacity. In fact, many creators prefer switching between memory cards rather than transferring videos.
By removing the microSD slots altogether, DJI might limit the capabilities of its users while working on lengthy shoots, especially without a computer available at the destination location. Not having enough space when shooting could prove problematic for professional creators.
The flexibility provided by microSD cards also makes them desirable, as one can store their project and back it up quickly and keep filming without stopping.
Despite all that, the hybrid version which provides for internal storage and external microSD expansion remains a possibility.
Design Likely to Stay Familiar
There seems to be no indication of any kind of significant redesign in the video teaser. From the outline visible in the video teaser, it looks like the device has an outline quite similar to that of the Osmo Pocket.
It is a wise decision, considering that the design of the existing device is already portable and comfortable to use with one hand while filming. In addition, its size and weight are quite small compared to most other camera devices.
Thus, instead of making significant changes to the design, DJI is more likely to make some improvements on the inside, such as increasing storage space and improving recording quality.
DJI Osmo Pocket 4 Launch Date and Time
DJI has confirmed that the Osmo Pocket 4 will be officially unveiled on:
April 16, 2026
12 PM GMT
8 AM ET
5 AM PT
The launch is expected to reveal full specifications, pricing, and availability details.
Given DJI’s history with the Osmo Pocket lineup, the new camera could also bring improvements in video quality, stabilization, battery life, and AI features, though these details remain unconfirmed for now.
What to Expect From DJI Osmo Pocket 4
Based on current leaks and teaser hints, here’s what we might see:
Over 100GB built-in storage
Reduced or removed microSD card support
Same compact gimbal camera design
Faster recording performance
Improved workflow for creators
Possible video and stabilization upgrades
Launch on April 16, 2026
However, the focus on making high-end portable videos had been characteristic of Osmo Pockets ever since. With the new Pocket 4, DJI could easily create an upgrade that would make the device even more appealing to vloggers, travel enthusiasts, and social media personalities alike.
Considering how accurate the recent reports seem to be, the next-generation Osmo Pocket from DJI may become one of the most practical upgrades in this line of action cameras not thanks to any fancy redesigning efforts but rather thanks to an enhanced shooting experience.
With just a few days until its release, all we can do is wait for DJI to prove itself and deliver a camera with "More storage. More stories."
April 16 will be the day when all will be revealed.
