Huawei Pocket 2 Premium Edition is actually a new iteration of the Pocket 2 foldable series. Though the design is not that different from the original model, Huawei has notably reduced the price to make it more attractive for consumers in the foldable market.
Following are the price details of the new models:
12GB RAM + 256GB Storage – 5499 yuan (~$765)
12GB RAM + 512GB Storage – 5999 yuan (~$835)
These models are more affordable by 2000 yuan compared to the regular Pocket 2, which initially started at 7499 yuan. Buyers can buy the Premium Edition on VMall and licensed retail outlets across China from June 26.
The Pocket 2 Premium Edition will be available in four attractive color options:
Tahitian Grey
Rococo White
Taro Purple
Elegant Black
Two of these Rococo White and Tahitian Grey feature a marble-textured back panel, adding a touch of sophistication. While the design looks nearly identical to the standard model, it’s clear Huawei is focusing on giving users a premium experience in a more affordable package.
Even though Huawei has not officially announced the chipset as yet, rumors are that the Pocket 2 Premium Edition will be equipped with the Kirin 9020A SoC. If this is the case, then the upcoming chipset promises to deliver as much as 35% improved performance over the current Kirin 9000s that currently fuel the Mate 60 Pro.
The jump in performance would put the Pocket 2 Premium Edition in a very good position when it comes to foldables, with improved speed, efficiency, and AI.
With the introduction of the Pocket 2 Premium Edition, Huawei is aiming at a wider set of users who want innovation and luxury without breaking the bank. The price reduction makes the foldable more affordable, while possible performance enhancements and style tweaks provide a flagship-level experience.
Huawei is going all-in on foldables, and the Pocket 2 Premium Edition is testament to the company's plan of combining high-tech innovation with affordability. All eyes are now set for the June 26 official sale event when more insightful details on the internal hardware and performance might be revealed.
