iOS 27 May Get These 3 Major Features Apple Didn't Reveal at WWDC 2026

Apple's WWDC 2026 keynote may not have revealed everything. Reports suggest iOS 27 could still gain third-party Siri AI integrations, a redesigned Camera app, and a refreshed Apple Watch experience before its public release.

iOS 27

Apple announced a number of groundbreaking products at its WWDC 2026 event. From enhanced Siri capabilities to improvements in all of its operating systems, Apple is making some of its biggest software developments in a long time. Stability is still a key aspect here, as well as continued development in the sphere of artificial intelligence. According to Bloomberg tech reporter Mark Gurman, however, a few much-anticipated features failed to make it to the keynote presentation.

This does not imply their total cancellation by Apple, of course, and Gurman even notes that there are currently no less than three features that were initially supposed to be launched at the presentation and are still being worked on right now. These may be presented as add-ons in iOS 27, which will launch sometime in September after the launch of the iPhone 18 series.

Siri Could Soon Support Multiple AI Assistants

Probably, the most significant omission from this year's WWDC was Apple's lack of progress toward incorporating AI capabilities in Siri further.

Currently, Siri depends on the company's collaboration with OpenAI and has a feature to transfer difficult questions to ChatGPT for better answers. While this integration was definitely significant, the company's future plans seem far more grand.

As per Gurman, Apple is developing the Extensions API that would enable third-party AI providers to connect with Siri. Rather than entering into exclusive arrangements with specific companies one by one, users would be able to select which AI model is responsible for answering their questions in the future.

It seems likely that Apple might even introduce support for AI tools from such giants as OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, allowing Siri to become even more competitive.

Obviously, this would significantly change the nature of Apple's approach to AI technology. It would shift from being closed to becoming a gateway for different AI-powered platforms, offering its users more freedom when interacting with it.

Considering that Androids are currently being equipped with advanced AI capabilities, this feature might make it possible to catch up in the ongoing competition.

Customisable Camera App

Another aspect that apparently lacks from the first round of iOS 27 news is an updated Camera app tailored to meet users' demand for personalization.

As Apple continues to improve its Camera application, implementing additional features along the way but trying not to complicate the process, more and more users ask for the opportunity to have more customization options available. For instance, it has been claimed that the new Camera app will enable users to place certain controls in the positions they find convenient, depending on whether they prefer to work in portrait mode or adjust the settings related to exposure, video recording, etc.

During WWDC, some updates relating to the Camera app were indeed presented, such as enhanced Siri integration; however, the ability to customize the camera controls seems to be missing from the initial developer's beta version.

It might potentially turn the iPhone app into a more efficient tool for its users.

Simplified Ultra Watch Face

There is also something new coming to the users of Apple Watch.

According to Gurman, Apple is working on a stripped-down version of the Modular Ultra watch face. The current Modular Ultra face is used only on the Ultra versions of the Apple Watch, and it is widely favored by power users since it shows lots of information using many complications.

Some people, however, might dislike a data-dense watch face. The new version will keep the iconic large clock face, but it will include fewer complications. This will give the watch face a more streamlined look while maintaining the unique feel of the Ultra watch face. The new face is said to be developed alongside the next iteration of the Apple Watch.

Why These Features Matter for iOS 27

Individually, none of these changes is expected to prompt immediate device upgrading by users. Taken together, however, they might contribute to turning iOS 27 into a more rounded operating system.

Among these updates, improved Siri integration seems to be the most significant change that Apple has made. In the light of mounting rivalry between AI projects run by Apple and those utilizing AI systems such as Google's Gemini, intelligent assistance has become a necessity for users.

On the other hand, camera customization will finally meet users' expectations, whereas Apple Watch redesign proves Apple's dedication to achieving a balance between functionality and simplicity.

As the iPhone 18 line is anticipated to launch soon, Apple still has room to polish up its iOS 27 operating system for all the users who are about to use this update.

Although Apple may have shown its biggest software updates at WWDC 2026, it looks like the tech giant still hasn't said everything about its software product. If these rumors turn out to be true, iOS 27 may be one of the most adaptable operating systems from Apple within recent years.

Until then, the users can only wait and check whether these hidden features will be presented in future beta releases. However, according to Bloomberg, the biggest surprises from Apple in 2026 may just be beginning.
