iPhone 18 Pro Release Date Leaked? iOS 27 Beta Hints at Apple's September Launch

Apple's iOS 27 beta schedule hints that the iPhone 18 Pro could launch in September 2026 alongside the rumored foldable iPhone Ultra and new Apple Watches.

The next-gen iPhone line-up from Apple seems to be taking shape gradually, although the tech giant has not made any official statement on it. However, the recent rollout of iOS 27 beta is perhaps one of the most convincing hints of how well the development process is going according to plan. The second release of the iOS 27 Developer Beta makes it even more likely that everything will happen as usual and the new iPhones will be revealed at the company's traditional September event.

For Apple fans, software development timelines are usually very good indicators of future device launches. With iOS 27 moving on through beta without any obvious hiccups, it appears that the way to Apple's biggest product launch of 2026 is getting clearer.

iOS 27 Developer Beta Schedule

The second iOS 27 Developer Beta was launched by Apple on June 22, 2026, right when it was supposed to come out. While the beta versions are mainly meant for testing new features and increasing the apps' compatibility, it also gives us some insight into how much time Apple still needs before its product will be ready to be released to the users.

This year's version has more meaning than previous ones due to the fact that iOS 27 will have Apple's long-awaited advanced version of Siri, which will utilize greatly improved artificial intelligence. This particular delay in the development of Siri has been the reason why this version of iOS became one of the most important releases in recent years.

The fact that Apple launches beta versions on schedule shows us how confident they are in their software development.

Public Beta Could Arrive Earlier Than Last Year

For the future, it is predicted that the next iOS 27 Developer Beta 3 will be released by Apple around July 6. Right after this release, the company might proceed with launching the first Public Beta and give an opportunity for millions of iPhone owners to try the new operating system even before it gets officially launched.

The same year ago, Apple launched its software after the fourth developer beta was released. However, the current expectations from the industry show that this time Apple will switch back to its previous schedule and offer the Public Beta right after the third developer build.

In case this schedule is correct, then users might get their hands on iOS 27 during the second week of July.

Multiple Beta Releases Expected Before Final Version

With regard to the release history of Apple, iOS 27 is expected to go through a long period of testing during summer. Analysts expect eight or nine Developer Betas and six Public Beta versions before the software reaches its final form. The extensive testing process enables Apple to detect any bugs, increase performance of the operating system, reduce the power consumption of devices and test the compatibility on supported iPhone models.

Release Candidate (RC), which is basically the final step before launching the iOS 27 to the public, is usually similar to the software that comes preinstalled on new iPhones. Currently, the release of iOS 27 Release Candidate is expected in September 9, 2026.

Apple's September Event Could Be Held on September 9

One of the most significant indications that can be gleaned from the schedule of the software is the date on which Apple’s keynote event would be held every September.

Whereas Apple usually holds its annual iPhone event on a Tuesday, this year’s schedule gives rise to a different scenario since Labor Day in the US will fall on September 7, which makes holding an event close to it less possible.

Accordingly, many industry experts anticipate that Apple will hold its keynote event on September 9, 2026, on a Wednesday.

The event would probably be held in Apple Park, Cupertino, and would also be live-streamed worldwide starting from 10:00 AM Pacific Time.

iPhone 18 Pro Lineup

The September keynote is expected to showcase far more than just the standard Pro models.

Apple is widely rumored to introduce:

  • iPhone 18

  • iPhone 18 Plus

  • iPhone 18 Pro

  • iPhone 18 Pro Max

  • Apple's first foldable iPhone, possibly branded as iPhone Ultra

  • Apple Watch Series 12

  • Apple Watch Ultra 4

  • Additional software announcements and ecosystem updates

Among these products, the foldable iPhone has generated the most excitement. Reports suggest Apple has been investing heavily in creating a premium foldable experience that avoids many of the durability issues seen in earlier foldable smartphones from competing brands.

However, because the foldable device represents an entirely new product category for Apple, production challenges remain possible.

Expected iPhone 18 Release Date

Assuming that Apple sticks to its timeline, the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone 18 Pro Max should be launched as per plan on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Pre-orders will most likely start within a few days of the September announcement, which is a strategy that has been used by Apple before.

The only issue that might arise in this case is that of the iPhone Ultra. Since the manufacturing process for foldable phones is more complicated, Apple may decide to launch the phone a few weeks later if production is restricted. More information will emerge as the Apple launch nears.

However, despite no confirmation from Apple regarding the actual dates, it seems the regular release of iOS 27 beta versions is becoming an indicator that Apple is on track for another September iPhone release.

Considering that AI-driven Siri is likely to take center stage with iOS 27, the release of iPhone 18 Pro models can be one of the most important product releases for Apple in the recent times. Throw in the prospect of Apple's first foldable phone, better Apple Watches, and other software enhancements, and one can understand why September 2026 is going to be one of the most significant periods for Apple recently.

Until Apple issues official invites, these dates will be nothing but assumptions made on the basis of industry trends and past experiences of Apple. Nonetheless, the most recent iOS 27 beta schedule can provide us with one of the clearest guides yet.
