Motorola’s long-awaited Edge 70 Pro has finally hit the market in India and replaces the Motorola Edge 60 Pro as its successor. Notably, Motorola has introduced some improvements in terms of performance, battery life, and camera components. However, there have been some deliberate omissions, such as the omission of wireless charging and telephoto camera lenses. Overall, the Edge 70 Pro seems promising on paper despite its flaws.

In this article, we will take an in-depth look at why the Motorola Edge 70 Pro stands out.
Sleek Design Meets Durability
The company follows through on its promise of beautiful designs with the Motorola Edge 70 Pro. There are three Pantone-certified colors to choose from, including Tea, Lily White, and Titan, each with a different finish, ranging from the marbled texture to fabric-back and Satin Lux finish, catering to users’ varying taste preferences.
Although the device comes with a big battery, it is still quite thin at 6.9mm and light at 190g, making it easy to carry around during daily activities. The rounded corners give it a luxurious look, unlike other smartphones with straight edges that have become more common lately.
Another notable feature of the Edge 70 Pro is its durability. The device can resist the toughest conditions since it is certified MIL-STD-810H and meets the IP68/IP69 standard. The screen is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, while the body is made of an aluminum alloy.
Stunning AMOLED Display
Motorola Edge 70 Pro comes equipped with a stunning 6.8-inch, 10-bit Extreme AMOLED screen offering bright and crisp visuals. Featuring a 1.5K resolution screen with 2772 x 1272 pixels and an adaptive 144Hz refresh rate, the screen ensures smooth scrolling and gaming experience.
Moreover, the screen offers support for HDR10+ along with a maximum brightness of up to 5,200 nits. This allows users to enjoy great visibility outdoors and bright indoor environments. It also supports Pantone validation for colours and skin tones.
Powerful Performance
In the center of the product is a Dimensity 8500 Extreme chip made in a 4nm process technology. It is supposed to provide performance equivalent to that of flagship smartphones; AnTuTu benchmark results exceed 2.4 million points for this smartphone.
Combined with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage, the Edge 70 Pro will guarantee fast loading times for applications, smooth multitasking, and fast data processing. In addition, the large-size 4,600mm² vapor chamber cooling technology contributes to better overall performance during intensive use such as gaming.
Edge 70 Pro will be based on the new Android 16-based Hello UI. It will receive three major software updates and five years of security updates decent, but somewhat inferior to competitors' offerings.
Massive Battery
The battery is one of the areas where there is a significant improvement compared to last year’s model. The Edge 70 Pro has a mammoth 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery that will ensure sufficient juice for at least one full day.
Fast-charging through a 90W TurboPower charger will come in handy. Sadly, the lack of wireless charging support could be a turn-off for some buyers.
Camera Setup
The camera system of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro, however, is somewhat different this time. It comprises a 50MP Sony LYT-710 sensor featuring OIS, complemented by an extra 50MP ultrawide-angle lens with macro functionality, and a three-in-one light sensor.
Interestingly, there is no telephoto camera in this smartphone, and all the long-range shots will be handled by the primary sensor. Of course, this could bring up some doubts regarding its zoom capability, although smart image processing might solve this problem.
A 50MP front-facing selfie camera makes it possible to take nice selfies and have crystal-clear video chats, which will please content creators.
Pricing, Availability, and Offers in India
Motorola Edge 70 Pro Price in India:
₹38,999 – 8GB RAM + 256GB Storage
₹41,999 – 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage
The phone will be exclusively available from Flipkart from April 29. There are several launch offers, including cashback of ₹2,100 for banks, which reduces the base price to ₹36,999.
Among the many competitors in this crowded space, there is a wide array of phones to compete against such as OnePlus Nord 6, Realme 16 Pro, Redmi Note 15 Pro+, and Nothing Phone (4a) Pro.
Though it may not be the best in each and every one of these areas, the newest release from Motorola has its own unique attributes which make it stand out with its slim profile, large battery, and feature set.
It seems that the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is a sensible update, prioritizing functionality over anything else. It enhances several vital features, such as battery longevity, speed, and screen resolution, but makes smart compromises to remain affordable.
For those moving from an outdated phone, it is a fantastic purchase. But for owners of the Edge 60 Pro, there might be no sufficient reasons to make the switch.
In general, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro presents itself as a great all-rounder ideal for individuals who seek high-end characteristics without going overboard price-wise.
