OnePlus Officially Exits Europe and North America While India Business Continues

OnePlus has announced it will stop launching new products in Europe and North America while continuing full operations in India. Existing users will keep receiving software updates, and Android 17 will bring a transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS.

OnePlus

OnePlus has now officially made one of the biggest announcements in terms of strategy within the company. The phone manufacturer has clarified that it will not launch any new products in Europe and North America but that their business operations in India will carry on smoothly and will be unaffected. This clears out any doubts that have been lingering about OnePlus' future in the western markets.

Whereas OnePlus may not be launching any new devices in the western markets, including smartphones, tablets, wearables, and all other kinds of OnePlus phones, the company is still committed to offering full support to their customers through software updates, patches, and warranty services. However, in India, where many launches are scheduled for the coming months, the brand will still continue its operations and releases.

OnePlus Confirms Exit from Europe and North America

As per an official statement released by OnePlus, it was stated that the brand would be phasing out its hardware business in Europe and North America region. Therefore, it can be stated that users of this region would no longer see OnePlus launching its smartphone or accessories range in the future.

This is because a company that took more than a decade to build up its fan base beyond China has decided to shift focus to other ventures now. It all started when OnePlus launched its first flagship killer strategy, which made OnePlus very popular in countries like the United States, Canada, and some other European nations.

Though hardware launch is over for the time being, it must be noted that OnePlus is still looking forward to keeping its loyal users happy and content. This is because OnePlus users would still get their expected Android OS upgrades, security patches, and customer support as usual.

Existing OnePlus Users Will Continue Receiving Updates

It has also been established that all of the current OnePlus smartphones used in Europe and North America will continue receiving all software updates which have been pledged for them. Eligible phones will continue getting future Android versions based on their initial schedule, and security updates will be provided as well.

Also, customer service offices will continue operating in order to address all warranty-related issues, repairs and technical support needs. It is evident that current customers will not have any trouble finding help from the company even if the firm decides to cease product launches in these markets.

It can be stated that this information addresses the concerns regarding device support in the long term.

North American OnePlus Community to Shut Down

Along with the changes being made within the business operations, OnePlus has announced another important development related to their community portal.

The North American OnePlus Community website and application would be shutting down officially on August 16, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET. Members of the community in the region would lose their access to the platform from that day onwards.

However, it was stated by OnePlus that the OnePlus Community portals and stores in Europe will continue to run for the time being.

India Remains a Key Market for OnePlus

Whereas the Western markets have seen a dramatic change, OnePlus has emphasized that India is still one of its top priorities.

It has reiterated that there would be no effect on the performance of its Indian operations in terms of sales, services, and even the launch of new products. In fact, it is worth noting that OnePlus has indicated that it has plans for launching more devices, among which include the much-anticipated OnePlus N6x.

India has always been one of the key regions for OnePlus, being well known in both the high-end and mid-range smartphone markets.

OxygenOS to Transition into ColorOS with Android 17

One of the most significant announcements among those made regarding the restructuring is a new software update.

OnePlus has stated that all eligible OnePlus phones, regardless of which regions they belong to, will switch from OxygenOS to ColorOS along with the Android 17 upgrade.

This marks yet another phase in the process of merging OnePlus and OPPO due to their business partnership in recent times. Although the two operating systems were already sharing their core codebase, the Android 17 update seems to bring about the transition of supported devices entirely.

Thus, ColorOS will become the standard software package for future OnePlus devices in India and other countries.

This move comes after a number of speculations on what the future holds for OnePlus beyond China. There were industry speculations that the firm intends to cut down its business activities in a number of foreign markets or pull out altogether. The speculations were strengthened after a recent report by Bloomberg stating that OnePlus might be shutting down its Indian operations by 2027 leaving China as its sole operating country. But the latest move by OnePlus is in direct contradiction with the above speculation.

Consumers from Europe and the USA will be most affected by the lack of future hardware releases from OnePlus. Yet those who already have their smartphones will have nothing to worry about – they will still receive their software updates and security updates as well as enjoy their warranties and support.

There should not be many changes for Indian customers though. OnePlus is still developing the Indian market and is going to release new smartphones while supporting their devices with Android 17 and ColorOS.

Despite the fact that the global strategy of OnePlus changes, the company seems to concentrate its efforts in markets that offer them growth perspectives in the long term.
