Resident Evil Veronica is set to modernize the classic Code: Veronica experience with story adjustments that strengthen ties to the wider Resident Evil universe. Capcom has also confirmed the remake will use a traditional third-person perspective and launch next year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC.

Back then, it seemed like the Resident Evil series was about to become outdated. Today, Capcom has not only managed to keep their iconic survival horror series alive but to give it new life with the help of successful remakes as well as adding to the contemporary plotline with brand new installments. The latest addition to the Resident Evil series, namely Resident Evil Veronica, also has something interesting for fans of this franchise in store.
Recently, during the Q&A session at Summer Game Fest, the producer of Resident Evil Veronica, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, revealed some information concerning story changes that the game will introduce to better connect with the rest of the plotline of this series. As the fact that the original Code: Veronica came out 26 years ago shows, quite a lot of new games have been created since then, among which are Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem.
Furthermore, the producer stated that Capcom considers Veronica to be an entry on par with its number series entries. It is worth mentioning that the creators of Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes, which received excellent reviews for their quality, will create this game. Therefore, it can be assumed that Capcom has prepared something good for fans, as they have long been waiting for the return of their favorite adventure with Claire Redfield.
It turns out that Capcom tried to fool its audience when they announced the game through its video. The developers shot the footage in the first-person view mode so that no one could guess anything in advance. However, revealing Claire Redfield at the end of the trailer allowed Capcom fans to breathe a sigh of relief because Resident Evil Veronica will become another remake in the classic third-person view format.
Finally, Hirabayashi mentioned some reasons why Capcom dropped the word "Code" from the original title. However, the company will most likely provide additional information about it over the next few months. At least this statement gives hope that fans can expect more news about the remake next year, especially since Resident Evil Veronica comes out in 2024.
