Samsung XR Headset Launch Date Confirmed

Samsung has finally sealed the launch date of its long-awaited first XR Headset, code-named Project Moohan. 2025 is turning out to be a milestone year for the Korean giant, with two of its highly speculated innovations – the XR Headset and the Galaxy TriFold. As per ETNews, the XR Headset will be launched officially on October 21, 2025 via an online event. Owing to the time differences, the launch will be held on October 22 in South Korea, whereas the majority of international markets such as the US will see the launch on October 21 itself.

A Big Step for the Galaxy Ecosystem

Samsung's next XR Headset is not simply another device; it's a significant expansion of the Galaxy universe. The headset will seamlessly integrate with the company's current portfolio of Galaxy smartphones, foldables, tablets, smartwatches, Galaxy Ring, and earbuds. Artificial Intelligence (AI) will take center stage, providing seamless interconnectivity and presenting users with an integrated extended reality experience on all Samsung devices.

Change in Launch Strategy

Interestingly, Samsung was initially planning to launch its XR Headset on September 29, 2025, with October marking the beginning of sales. However, to prevent overlapping promotional campaigns for other products, the firm opted to advance the launch date to October 21. This move will provide the XR Headset with greater media attention and facilitate greater market presence at launch.

Availability and Sales Targets

After the formal announcement, Samsung is to offer the XR Headset for sale initially in South Korea, to be followed by other regions. Sources indicate that the firm has projected a lofty first-wave sales figure of 100,000 units, which attests to its faith in the strength of demand and market appeal of the product.

Price Positioning

Samsung's XR Headset is positioned as a direct rival to Apple's Vision Pro. The primary objective, according to reports, is to have Apple's headset look "excessively overpriced" by comparison. Pricing will be below KRW 2 million (approximately $1,500), leaving it in an interesting position in the XR market less than Apple Vision Pro but more than Meta Quest 3. This positions Samsung's product as an even-priced premium product that would appeal to a broad audience looking for high-end XR features without breaking the bank.

The release of Samsung's initial XR Headset, Project Moohan, is a new chapter for Samsung's technology ecosystem. With AI, smooth Galaxy connectivity, and a thoughtful price strategy, Samsung is seeking to shake up the XR space and compete with entrenched players like Apple and Meta. The official release date is now set for October 21, 2025, and the sector will be observing closely to see how Samsung's new product fares against its rivals.
