Vivo NEXT 2026 India Event Could Bring X Fold 6, OriginOS 7 and Mixed Reality Headset Alongside V80
Vivo NEXT 2026 is set to bring several major announcements to India, including the Vivo X Fold 6, V80, S2 FE, OriginOS 7 and a possible mixed-reality headset.

Vivo is gearing up for one of its largest product events in India this year. The company will soon conduct the Vivo NEXT 2026 event on October 6 and is set to make some big announcements with respect to smartphones, software and future technologies. Although the event had earlier been rumored to have the launch of the Vivo V80 as the main agenda, the Vivo NEXT 2026 event may turn out to be a lot bigger than originally thought.
This is because while Vivo has already announced the launch of Vivo V80 and Vivo S2 FE, the company has recently teased its next generation of foldable smartphone called Vivo X Fold 6. Alongside, the company has even teased a high-end mixed reality headset. Vivo is also set to reveal more details regarding its next generation of software named OriginOS 7.
This could be a crucial event for Vivo as multiple devices may be unveiled at this event, including Vivo's move into premium smartphones and foldable devices, and even spatial computing.
Vivo X Fold 6 Confirmed for Vivo NEXT 2026
Perhaps the biggest shocker in the most recent teaser comes from the Vivo X Fold 6. Vivo has officially announced that their newest foldable phone will be unveiled during the Vivo NEXT 2026 in India.
As such, the X Fold 6 which first launched in China back in June may find itself in the country in an almost identical state in terms of specifications and design. Based on how Vivo has been rolling out new products in the past, there's a high chance of getting their latest foldable phone in its full glory.
In terms of design, the Vivo X Fold 6 offers a large 8.02-inch 120Hz AMOLED display on the inside along with 6.51-inch 120Hz AMOLED cover display that can support HDR and peak brightness of 5,000 nits. That makes the smartphone very attractive to anyone who spends plenty of time consuming video content or uses the phone outdoors.
Durability is yet another thing to consider. The foldable phone is certified with IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water resistance. Moreover, the hinge is expected to endure up to 600,000 folding cycles which makes it more than just a regular mid-end phone.
Dimensity 9500 Super and Up to 1TB Storage
On the inside, the Vivo X Fold 6 features the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super chipset. The chipset is complemented by up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage on offer.
While the Chinese variant of the device will feature Android 16-based OriginOS, the international variant is likely to move onto OriginOS 7, making the X Fold 6 one of the first Vivo phones to be launched with OriginOS 7 in India.
What will be interesting about the software is that Vivo is also expected to share more information about OriginOS 7 at the launch event.
Vivo X Fold 6 Packs a Massive 7,000mAh Battery
Another feature that makes the X Fold 6 a stand out is the battery. In particular, Vivo has fitted the smartphone with an impressive silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 7,000mAh, which is relatively bigger than what other competitive flagship foldable smartphones come with.
It comes with a 80W wired charging capability and 40W wireless charging capability. The smartphone offers impressive battery life and fast charging capability which can make it attractive to power users.
The 7,000mAh battery capacity also stands out when compared to its competitive foldable smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy Z Fold and Pixel Fold from Google. It seems that the company is going about things differently as it seems to have prioritized the capacity of the battery.
Zeiss-Tuned 200MP Camera Leads the Photography Setup
In addition to the folding display technology, photography forms another core of the Vivo X Fold 6 smartphone. It uses Zeiss-tuned 200 MP primary camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS).
In addition to the primary 200MP camera, the smartphone has 50MP ultrawide camera and 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x OIS. With such an array of cameras, the device can capture photos in the standard, ultra-wide and telephoto modes.
There are also two front-facing 20MP cameras mounted on both inner and outer displays. This way, a user has no need to use a single front camera for selfies or video conferencing.
Vivo Mixed Reality Headset Also Teased
In addition to the X Fold 6, Vivo has unveiled another exciting product teaser. The teaser image released by the Chinese company seems to be of a mixed reality headset that resembles the Apple Vision Pro, but there have been no details regarding India plans of Vivo.
The headset in question is expected to be the Vivo Vision Explorer Edition, which was launched in China earlier. If that is indeed what is being showcased, then Vivo may want to make a statement on its NEXT 2026 event about its ambitions beyond smartphones.
The Vision Explorer Edition revolves around immersive 3D experiences and reportedly weighs in at about 398 grams. The headset includes a mirror-finished visor along with several cameras and sensors.
Dual 8K Micro-OLED Displays and Eye Tracking
The display technology used in the headset is very impressive. It uses two 8K Micro-OLED binocular displays, where each eye gets a resolution of 3840 x 3552 pixels.
It is reported that the display technology covers about 94% of DCI-P3 color space, and the optics technology gives an angle of 180 degrees. It also supports spatial audio and is capable of generating virtual screen technology equivalent to 120 inches screen size.
Eye tracking along with hand gestures allows interaction with the system without any physical controller. Magnetic lenses allow the user to change diopters in the optical technology.
Will Vivo Sell the Mixed Reality Headset in India?
Currently, there is no information regarding whether Vivo will commercially release the mixed-reality headset in India or only exhibit the innovation at Vivo NEXT 2026.
Since there is no information available about the prices and availability of the device in India, it would be too soon to conclude that the product will be released right away. Vivo might just opt to use the conference to show its capabilities in researching and developing spatial computing technology.
Regardless of this, the inclusion of the innovation at such an important Indian conference suggests that Vivo is already exploring other areas apart from smartphones.
OriginOS 7 Could Get More Details
The Vivo NEXT 2026 event will further provide more insights into the newest operating system of the company called OriginOS 7.
OriginOS 7 is developed upon Android 17 and is currently being tested in beta mode on some devices, such as the Vivo X300 Pro and iQOO 15. The stable version may become available for other phones over the following weeks.
Vivo V80 is one of the devices that can receive the new software; however, the company will reveal the plan for software rollouts during the upcoming event.
Speaking about the significance of OriginOS 7, Indian consumers will benefit most from this software because Vivo keeps expanding both its software and hardware.
Vivo NEXT 2026 Could Be More Than Just a Smartphone Launch
While the event was initially set to be an uneventful one for the launch of the Vivo V80, it could prove to be quite an exciting one as well, with the Vivo V80, Vivo S2 FE, X Fold 6, OriginOS 7, and even possibly a mixed-reality headset making an appearance at Vivo NEXT 2026 to make it one of the biggest launches from the company in India.
The X Fold 6, with its massive 7,000mAh battery, 200MP Zeiss-tuned camera, high-tier MediaTek processor, and foldable display, will surely grab the attention of any smartphone enthusiasts who show up.
In terms of the mixed-reality headset, it could very well provide a look into where Vivo wants to go with future innovations and if it will be made available to Indian consumers.
In terms of more news, expect the event to bring pricing and availability information on the V80, S2 FE, and X Fold 6, as well as more about OriginOS 7. As the event is fast approaching, all eyes will soon be on Vivo to see how ambitious it wants to get with its premium ecosystem in India.
