Real Camera Replacement

Many smartphone manufacturers market their phones as being able to take pictures like a DSLR. However, there are only a few phones that have been created with a strong emphasis on photography. One such phone is the vivo X300 Ultra.

This device employs a three-camera setup with lenses from ZEISS at three different focal lengths – 14mm ultrawide, 35mm primary, and 85mm telephoto. This is similar to the method used by photographers with different lenses for different shooting situations.

The uniqueness of this camera setup is that each of the three lenses is equipped with a large sensor together with optical image stabilisation. Vivo refers to this camera setup as “ZEISS Master Lenses Collection.”

Camera System

First off, the main camera of the vivo X300 Ultra has been given an insane 200MP Sony LYTIA 901 sensor with 35mm focal length and f/1.85 aperture value. Vivo has gone all out and used a 35mm perspective as it provides a very natural field of view, just like human eyes, making this camera ideal for taking portraits, street photography, and normal photos.

Moreover, it comes with CIPA 6.5 stabilisation technology that will definitely come in handy while taking photos and videos hand-held.

Coming to the ultra wide-angle lens, it uses a 50MP Sony LYT818 sensor with 14mm focal length and f/2.0 aperture. Unlike any other ultrawide camera, which is mostly just a second sensor, Vivo has provided OIS and advanced stabilisation for the ultrawide lens. It even captures video at up to 4K resolution at 120fps frame rate.

And lastly, there is the telephoto lens, which is the real highlight of the camera module. Vivo has packed a 200MP periscope style telephoto lens with 85mm focal length and CIPA 7.0 gimbal-stabilisation. The telephoto lens will be great for portraits, zooming, taking shots of animals and birds in the wild, or video calls. All three cameras feature ZEISS T* coating and Super Blue Glass technology to minimise flare, reflections, and ghosting something photographers will appreciate during night photography or shooting under bright lights.

Professional Video Features

Vivo is not only focusing on photography. In addition, the X300 Ultra comes with one of the most sophisticated mobile video shooting platforms that can be found today.

Among its features are multi-focal 4K 120fps video recording, 10-bit Log recording, Dolby Vision recording, and Vivo’s own APV 422 encoding format. All these options target professionals who need more freedom during the post-production color grading process.

One of the most exciting features is support for custom 3D LUTs in real time. This technology is typically used on professional cinematic cameras and not in smartphones. Another interesting feature of the X300 Ultra is its quad-microphone design, which includes a range of audio recording modes such as Concert Vocals and Concert Vibe.

Dedicated VS1+ Imaging Chip

For an even better image quality, Vivo has equipped it with a dedicated image processing Pro Imaging Chip VS1+ that is based on a 6 nm architecture. According to Vivo, this chip is capable of processing as many as 80 trillion operations per second.

The image processing unit works together with the Snapdragon chipset to perform RAW image processing, dynamic range processing, computational photography, and noise reduction functions. The chip provides for a 20% improvement in image output speeds compared to the previous chip used by Vivo.

Performance

The vivo X300 Ultra comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor based on a 3nm technology. According to reports, the processor can achieve a maximum clock speed of 4.6 GHz and comes with 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM and 512GB UFS 4.1 memory.

As per claims from the brand, the vivo X300 Ultra achieves more than 4.2 million points on AnTuTu performance benchmarks and ranks it as one of the fastest smartphones on the Android platform, provided the claims are correct.

If you are into gaming, video editing at 4K, multitasking, artificial intelligence, or camera-intensive tasks, the X300 Ultra seems ready to tackle them all seamlessly.

Battery & Charging

Battery life is another important feature of this smartphone. The vivo company has placed a massive 6600mAh Semi-Solid-State Battery 2.0 inside the X300 Ultra, which is much more than what most flagships have today.

This smartphone can be charged using 100W wired FlashCharge and 40W wireless charging. Thus, users won't have any trouble recharging the battery, even though it is quite big.

Another interesting feature provided by Vivo is Battery Life Extender, which allows the phone to continue any work or gaming session when the battery drops to 1 percent. The phone will automatically restore all activities from where users left them after plugging in.

Display

In front, the vivo X300 Ultra has a huge display of 6.82 inches of 2K AMOLED panel that offers a screen resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels with a range of refresh rates from 1Hz to 144Hz. This panel supports peak brightness of 4500 nits and global brightness of 1800 nits, making it one of the brightest panels ever seen in any smartphone.

Features such as Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Netflix HDR have been integrated by vivo into the device. There are eye-protection features like 2160Hz PWM Dimming and TÜV Rheinland Flicker-Free Certification. Users can expect a flagship display experience while gaming, photo-editing, and HDR video playback.

Premium Design

Though it packs both a substantial battery and advanced camera hardware, the X300 Ultra is not lacking in elegance.

The Eclipse Black model features a glass fiber rear panel with a red ring encircling the camera, weighing in at 232 grams and measuring 8.19mm thick. In contrast, the Victory Green model sports a sleek dual tone glass back, weighing 237 grams and measuring 8.49mm thick. Both models boast an aluminum alloy body, offering IP68/IP69 dust/water protection.

The one accessory out of all that stands out as particularly fascinating, besides the phone itself, is the optional Vivo Imaging Grip Kit. This piece turns the X300 Ultra into something more like a camera proper.

The grip comes with an embedded 2300mAh battery, a hardware shutter release button complete with half-press autofocus, zoom slider, video capture button, function button, and a customizable controller wheel.

Moreover, there will be ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2 accessories which can boost the focal range of the telephoto lens up to 200mm and even 400mm of zoom. Accessories of this sort would actually alter how users shoot for good.

Software and Long-Term Support

OriginOS 6 built on Android 16 powers the X300 Ultra. The manufacturer promises five Android system updates and seven years of security patches.

Even though other brands such as Google, Samsung, and Apple have committed to seven years of software updates, this approach by Vivo is equally good for extended periods. OriginOS 6 supports various artificial intelligence-driven technologies, such as AI Transcript Assist, Vivo DocMaster, AI Captions, AI Creation capabilities, and Origin Island notifications.

It goes without saying that the vivo X300 Ultra cannot satisfy all needs. This is arguably the most expensive Android phone in India, retailing at ₹1.6 lakh, which becomes more costly if you factor in the photography accessories. Nevertheless, if photography on a smartphone matters to you a lot, then you may not find many other devices offering such a camera-focused flagship experience.

Everything from its large ZEISS camera sensors and movie-making capabilities to its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, giant battery, super-bright 2K display, and top-end build quality – pretty much everything that you would expect from a flagship smartphone has been incorporated into the device by Vivo. And if you want to take photos, create videos, or simply engage in professional-level image processing on your phone, the vivo X300 Ultra may prove to be among the best Android phones in 2026.
