Vivo has now confirmed the launch of its latest mid-range smartphone, the Vivo Y500 Pro, on November 10th in China. The new model will be an upgraded variant of the Vivo Y500 5G launched in September and boasts several premium upgrades, making it one of the most promising phones in its price bracket. As focused on photography, performance, and durability, the Y500 Pro seems all set to redefine the mid-range smartphone experience.

The Vivo Y500 Pro's strongest selling point is undoubtedly its 200MP Samsung HP5 primary camera, the first in its category to sport such a high-resolution sensor. That is a huge jump from the 50MP sensor on the regular Y500. The large 200MP lens is expected to capture shots that are highly detailed with better colour accuracy and low-light performance.
The device will incorporate a 2MP auxiliary camera for secondary optics, while the 32MP front shooter will take care of selfies and video calls with excellent clarity. Vivo has always been known for its camera abilities, and this time around, it's taking it up a notch for mid-range buyers who place photography at the top of their lists.
Inside, powering the Vivo Y500 Pro is a 7,000mAh semi-solid-state 'Blue Ocean' battery, one of the largest and most advanced in the segment. This semi-solid technology increases energy density, while ensuring better thermal efficiency and more safety compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries.
Although Vivo has not announced the specific charging rate, the device is intended to support fast charging, which is highly likely to fall in the range of 80W or more. The massive battery capacity of the Y500 Pro will definitely ensure extended usage, ideal for gamers, travelers, and content creators reliant on all-day battery performance.
Under the hood, the Vivo Y500 Pro will come fitted with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra (MT6878T) processor, coupled with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The combination herein guarantees the offering of smooth multitasking, fast app launches, and a lag-free user experience even under heavy load.
Vivo further claims that the Y500 Pro can run 120fps gaming in most MOBA titles, adding that the company is increasingly focusing on mobile gamers by providing a stable frame rate and improved thermal performance for extended sessions of gaming.
The Vivo Y500 Pro boasts a 6.67-inch flat 1.5K OLED display with advanced eye-protection technology for comfortable viewing even after long hours on the screen. It is expected to deliver rich colors, deep contrasts, and high refresh rates—ideal to meet all multi-media consumption and gaming needs.
Design-wise, Vivo has gone for a satin AG glass back that is not only premium to look at but feels great in the hand as well. Moreover, the device features IP68 and IP69 ratings for robust resistance against dust and water, which is hardly seen at this price segment.
The smartphone will be available in four elegant colours:
Light Green
Titanium Black
Soft Pink
Auspicious Cloud Gold
On the software front, powering the show is OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. Interestingly, the Y500 Pro will be the first non-flagship Vivo smartphone to feature the latest OriginOS 6 skin, which was until now launched on Vivo’s premium lineup.
This move underlines Vivo's ambitions to provide flagship-grade software refinement to mid-range users, ensuring smoother animations, better battery management, and increased personalization options.
Connectivity does not take a back seat either in the Vivo Y500 Pro, as it features 5G, Bluetooth, NFC, and dual-SIM support. The in-display fingerprint sensor of the phone allows safe and swift unlocking.
Accessories like the protective case, charging adapter, data cable, and user manual will come in very handy and thus the buyer will get a complete package right out of the retail box.
While the official pricing hasn't been disclosed, going by the specifications and market positioning, one can expect the Vivo Y500 Pro to be priced slightly above ₹25,000 in India. In India, it is expected to directly compete with other devices such as the Realme 15, Redmi Note 14 Pro, and the iQOO Z9 Pro, which would surely appeal to users looking for flagship-level features at mid-range costs.
Compared to its predecessor, the Vivo Y400 Pro-which came with a more petite 5,500mAh battery and a 64MP camera-the Y500 Pro represents a massive leap in almost every major department. Armed with a much bigger battery, an improved processor, a better camera system, and a design upgrade, it cements itself as one of the best options in this price bracket.
A promising all-rounder in the mid-range segment With a combination of a flagship-grade 200MP camera, massive 7,000mAh battery, powerful chipset Dimensity 7300 Ultra, and premium design, the Vivo Y500 Pro stands out as an ideal all-rounder. The device is designed not only for casual users but also for photography enthusiasts and gamers who want high performance without jumping into the flagship price territory. Vivo has made it clear that their motive is to conquer the mid-range segment by bringing flagship specs like semi-solid batteries and high-end camera sensors into their Y-series range. The Vivo Y500 Pro, with appropriate pricing, can easily be one of the most sought-after smartphones in its category this year.
