Xbox Games Showcase 2026 Reveals Persona 6 Fable Gears of War E-Day and More

Xbox Games Showcase 2026 delivered massive announcements including Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Persona 6, Spyro: A Realm Beyond, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and dozens of other exciting games coming to Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Xbox Games Showcase 2026 has just concluded, providing one of the best shows that have ever been held during Summer Game Fest 2026. Microsoft made an hour-long showcase full of surprises, including new game releases, demo videos, release dates, sequels, and updates to some of the biggest franchises within the gaming industry.
With the awaited return of Gears of War, Fable, and Persona 6 among other blockbusters like the new Spyro, Xbox Games Showcase 2026 has proven to be a huge success for Xbox players. However, interestingly, most of these games are now available for other platforms apart from Xbox. As part of its multi-platform approach, Microsoft will release several of these games concurrently on Sony PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC.

Gears of War: E-Day Finally Gets a Release Date
One of the standouts from the showcase event was the game Gears of War: E-Day. It is set to be released on October 6, 2026, and will only be available on the Xbox Series X/S consoles and PC.
Taking place 14 years before Gears of War, this new prequel sends the player on a return trip to the terrifying day of the invasion by the Locust Horde, which changed the world. As with previous games, the player will step into the shoes of Marcus Fenix while he serves on Bravo Squad and take part in all the chaos that occurred.
Among the many technical details revealed were 4K resolution with 60 frames per second and hardware-accelerated ray tracing during the single-player campaign. During multiplayer matches, a staggering 120 frames per second will be available.
Fable Returns With Hayley Atwell and a New Release Date
Finally, after a period of speculations regarding a delay in the release of Fable, Playground Games has shown us a glimpse of what the new game looks like.
Fable will now make its way into the market on February 23, 2027, and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Another big surprise for gamers was that the actress Hayley Atwell plays the role of Isabel, Hero of Wraithmarsh.
The original trilogy fans were pleasantly surprised to see Jack of Blades, one of their favorite villains from the trilogy, returning in this new installment.
Halo: Campaign Evolved Brings New Story Content
Halo enthusiasts got to see another glimpse of the game, "Halo: Campaign Evolved," set for release on July 28, 2026.
It includes footage taken during "Operation: METEORITE," a prelude storyline that involves three missions that take place prior to the happenings in Halo: Combat Evolved. The gameplay revolves around the two main characters in the game Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson.
Microsoft has provided information about its special editions, which come with exclusive skins of the Master Chief character, among other rewards.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Expands the Franchise
A new trailer for "Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy" was released by Asobo Studio on August 27, 2026.
The game is an action-oriented prequel featuring Sophia, the charming pirate character from "A Plague Tale: Requiem." Despite taking a shift towards action gameplay, the game continues to feature the story-telling style that has made the game series so beloved.
Persona 4 Revival Gets Gameplay Reveal
Atlus has made official the gameplay reveal for Persona 4 Revival.
The remake of the popular role-playing game will be released on February 27, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. It’s good to see that the classic game has gotten its due facelift in terms of visual improvements and modernized gameplay mechanics.
State of Decay 3 Shows Gameplay for the First Time
It had been a wait of many years until State of Decay 3 made its way into the limelight with some detailed gameplay footage.
State of Decay 3 is set to be released in 2027 and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
Sea of Thieves Introduces Custom Seas
Rare has confirmed that Season 20 of Sea of Thieves will include “Custom Seas.”
With Custom Seas, players can build their own customized multiplayer sessions, host their own large social events, set their own game rules, and take advantage of the free camera mode.
Metro 2039 Reveals Stunning Gameplay
Another game in the Metro line-up, Metro 2039, gets its first gameplay footage.
Scheduled to be released in 2027, the game further explores the same storyline, only now with a new villain named Fuhrer Hunter. The footage demonstrated amazing graphics, environment effects, and the usual survival horror gameplay.
Wo Long 2 Officially Announced
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember has been officially announced by Team Ninja at their showcase event.
Coming out in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, Wo Long 2 is an enhanced continuation of the original game with the addition of a Phoenix skill.
Senua Evolves Beyond Hellblade
Among the more unexpected revelations was the one by Ninja Theory.
The studio announced Senua, an action adventure game that takes place in the Hellblade universe. This game breaks away from tradition since the action-oriented game is centered around the warrior character. The game aims to hit stores in 2027.
Doom: The Dark Ages Gets Major Expansion
Bethesda announced the release of "Revelations," which is the first expansion pack for Doom: The Dark Ages.
Revelations, set to be launched on July 7, 2026, takes the Slayer through a harsh purgatory, where he learns the hard truth about life along with the acquisition of new abilities. One weapon introduced in the trailer was a luminous javelin that might replace the Slayer's famous shield.
Crazy Taxi Returns After Years Away
The new iteration is officially named Crazy Taxi: World Tour, marking the rekindling of Sega’s long-running franchise.
This upcoming release is scheduled for 2027 and revolves around Axel, whose taxi gets snatched away by a dangerous villain. In the reveal video, the iconic punk rock vibes that characterized the earlier titles made a return.
Xbox Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary
The company also introduced the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition Console.
Designed after the first Xbox from 2002, the console boasts a clear green casing, retro-style face buttons, and a green-lit Xbox logo controller. The special edition will become available towards the end of the year, but its price has yet to be revealed.
Minecraft Dungeons II Officially Revealed
One of the showcase's biggest surprises was Minecraft Dungeons II.
The sequel promises a larger world, expanded cooperative gameplay, deeper progression systems, and new dungeon-crawling adventures within the Minecraft universe.
Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
Konami has announced that Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will be released starting from October 15, 2026.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse takes place 23 years before the events of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse and features a new Belmont character. The development of the game is managed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin – the creators of Dead Cells.
Persona 6 Finally Becomes Reality
Possibly the most eagerly awaited reveal at the conference was that of Persona 6.
Though Atlus did not show much beyond a teaser, the studio officially acknowledged the existence of the game and showcased its green-centric aesthetic. While more information about gameplay and narrative aspects of Persona 6 has yet to be revealed, fans now have an official confirmation of its existence.
Spyro Makes a Triumphant Return
Another fan favorite announcement included Spyro: A Realm Beyond.
The upcoming game will be available Spring 2027 and will follow the storyline where Spyro ventures out of the realm into uncharted territory, fighting off a new enemy group called the Scavs.
Clockwork Revolution Shows More Gameplay
Another look at the Clockwork Revolution was released by InXile Entertainment.
The exclusive Xbox RPG will release in 2027 and offers a unique time-traveling mechanism where players can go 25 years back in time and change the events to create a new future.
The latest trailer gave us insight on new characters, gameplay mechanics, and the world of the game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Closes the Show
Activision concluded the showcase by showcasing a fresh trailer for their upcoming title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
Set to be released on October 23, 2026, it is a comeback for the well-received DMZ extraction shooter game mode. The trailer focused on strategic gameplay, massive combat sequences, and multiplayer elements.
The game will release simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
In 2026, Xbox Games Showcase had a very impressive lineup of games from Microsoft. With blockbuster titles such as Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Halo: Campaign Evolved, Persona 4 Revival, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, Spyro: A Realm Beyond, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 set to release within the next two years, the future is definitely bright for Xbox players.
Another prominent trend at this year's Xbox Games Showcase has been the increased focus on developing titles for multiple platforms. Microsoft continues to bring many formerly Xbox-exclusive series onto other platforms including PlayStation and PC.
