Infinix Smart 20 Launched in India With 120Hz Display, Android 16 and 5200mAh Battery

Infinix Smart 20 has been launched in India with a 120Hz display, MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate processor, Android 16-based XOS 16, IP64 rating, and a 5,200mAh battery. Starting at Rs 12,499, the smartphone focuses on design, durability, and everyday performance.

Infinix Smart 20

This time, Infinix is set to take its budget smartphone offerings to the next level in India with the introduction of the new Infinix Smart 20 series. The Infinix Smart 20 follows the legacy left behind by its predecessor, the Infinix Smart 10, by being designed for users who would like a trendy yet affordable smartphone.

What makes the Infinix Smart 20 unique from other budget smartphones is its slimness, high refresh rate display, use of the Android 16 operating system, and battery capacity. It appears that Infinix is not jumping on the bandwagon of offering 5G smartphones in the budget segment since there are already other phone brands doing that.

Infinix Smart 20 Price in India and Availability

There are two variants of the new Infinix Smart 20 available for purchase. The base variant which has 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory is available for Rs 12,499, whereas the second variant which has 4GB RAM and 128GB internal memory costs Rs 13,999.

In order to sweeten the deal even further, Infinix Smart 20 is being offered with some interesting discounts on its launch day. People who pay for the phone using Flipkart Axis Bank and SBI Bank cards will receive a discount of Rs 1,100. Additionally, those who use ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank cards will get an instant discount of Rs 500.

The smartphone will be officially available for purchase starting from June 12 at 12 PM. Buyers have the option of selecting from four different colour choices.

Ultra-Slim Design Takes Centre Stag

One of the best things about the Infinix Smart 20 is surely the design. With its slim build measuring just 7.7 mm, the Infinix Smartphone is definitely one of the slimmest devices in the segment. It seems like Infinix has aimed at designing this smartphone for customers looking for an attractive product without having to pay too much for it.

The IP64 certification is another plus point of this device as most of the cheap smartphones lack this important quality. Protection from water splashes makes this device better than others in the segment.

Moreover, due to its youthful colours, it is clear that Infinix has designed this device for students and other young individuals.

Display

The Infinix Smart 20 boasts of a huge 6.78 inches HD+ LCD display and a current punch-hole screen technology. Whereas the resolution is still the same at HD+, the addition of the 120Hz refresh rate will provide a superior performance in terms of smooth scrolling and navigation.

With a normal maximum brightness capacity of 560 nits and 700 nits in bright screen mode, the smartphone ensures adequate outdoor visibility when operating in harsh environmental conditions.

It is intriguing how Infinix has integrated the Always On Display function on an LCD panel. Although it operates quite differently from AMOLED screens whereby it briefly illuminates to show notifications and time, it gives an impressive look.

MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate

At the heart of this smartphone lies the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultimate chipset. While this chip may be inferior to the Unisoc T7250 that was used in its previous generation, it will still provide sufficient performance for its user demographic.

Even though this particular chipset is not suited to gaming or multitasking, it will suffice for daily tasks such as social networking, WhatsApp communication, watching videos, participating in online lectures, and browsing the Internet.

In combination with LPDDR4X RAM and eMMC storage, the phone has adequate hardware performance to meet its target users' expectations. If reliability is what users seek, the Smart 20 should not disappoint.

Android 16 Out of the Box

Software is yet another aspect that puts the Infinix Smart 20 above the competition. It comes with the brand new XOS 16 powered by Android 16 out-of-the-box.

The most recent iteration of the OS features a completely revamped look reminiscent of the light-glass design philosophy as well as improved quick settings, lock screen customization, home screens with greater flexibility, and various productivity-oriented AI capabilities.

Android 16 means that users will be able to immediately enjoy all features offered by the latest Android release upon unpacking the phone. Yet, the company has yet to provide any information regarding its software update policy.

Camera Setup

The Infinix Smart 20 is featured with an 8 MP back camera and an 8 MP front camera that will capture great images when making self-portraits or making video calls.

One should anticipate that these cameras will be designed for recreational photography since it is not a phone for professional photography. However, one can rely on good daytime photographs that can be used for posting online.

Both the front and back camera offer video capabilities at 2K with a frame rate of 30 FPS, and this is a feature that comes handy for such a budget-friendly model.

Battery

Battery performance remains another area of strength for budget phones, which can be seen through the Infinix Smart 20.

The smartphone comes packed with a huge 5,200mAh battery that will see users go through an entire day with its charge even under medium to intensive use. With a power-efficient chip and HD+ display, many users might even be able to enjoy more than a day's worth of battery life from just one charge.

The battery will get charged using 15W fast charging while supporting 5W reverse fast charging to allow the phone to act as a charger for other devices.

Should You Buy the Infinix Smart 20?

In conclusion, the Infinix Smart 20 seems to be an appropriately balanced smartphone with respect to those consumers who place design considerations and battery efficiency above 5G compatibility.

Available from Rs 12,499 onwards, the Infinix Smart 20 provides an interesting offering with a sleek body, IP64 water resistance, high refresh rate display, Android 16 software, and decent battery performance. Although the camera performance or the processor might not compare with those in advanced smartphones, they will suffice for ordinary tasks on the go.

From the perspective of students, first-time smartphone users, or older generation users seeking a stylish smartphone, the Infinix Smart 20 can be seen as a viable choice. As long as 5G capability does not matter much, the Infinix Smart 20 stands out in the category of affordable smartphones.
