Realme is all geared up to strengthen its premium smartphone portfolio in India, with the launch of the Realme 16 Pro series. The new series, which is all set to arrive on January 6, brings two models in its lineup - the Realme 16 Pro 5G and the Realme 16 Pro+ 5G - and aims to bridge the gap between performance-focused mid-range phones and true premium flagships. With confirmed specifications already out and pricing leaks doing the rounds, the Realme 16 Pro series is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about smartphone launches of early 2026.
Realme had already confirmed the launch of the Realme 16 Pro lineup in India on January 6. After the launch announcement, the phones will be available for purchase through the online portal of Realme India as well as Flipkart.
As far as the design of the phones goes, Realme is launching a series of devices featuring a range of traditional as well as Indian variants of colors. For the Indian markets, the phones can be purchased in variants of Master Gold and Master Gray, along with two Indian variants Camellia Pink and Orchid Purple. The new phones come adorned by Realme’s new design language known as Urban Wild Design, which was crafted in collaboration with the prominent Japanese designer, Naoto Fukasawa.
Pricing will be a major factor in defining how aggressive the Realme 16 Pro series is intended to be in the premium mid-segment category. As per recent leaks, the Realme 16 Pro 5G is said to start at Rs. 31,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The 8GB + 256GB option may price at Rs. 33,999 whereas the top-of-the-line 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant could sell at Rs. 36,999.
Coming to the pricing, the Realme 16 Pro+ 5G might start from Rs. 39,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, while the 8GB + 256GB might come at Rs. 41,999. There could be another 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant that might come at Rs. 44,999. Previous leaks suggested the box price for the Pro+ variant of Rs. 43,999, which is close enough to these leaks. Realme is expected to confirm the pricing in the launch event.
The two phones in the Realme 16 Pro line come along with a triple camera arrangement on the rear, enclosed in a square camera housing and further supplemented by an LED flash. They have an aerospace-grade frame to stress the premium nature of the devices.
Durability is one of the exciting things about this series. Realme has officially confirmed IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings regarding dust and water protection, which seems very unusual, even at a higher price range, on flagship models of other smartphone brands. The power button, volume keys, and other hardware elements are located on the right side of this smartphone.
The Realme 16 Pro lineup is equipped with AMOLED screens that are rich in features and come with full-HD+ resolution. Speaking of the Realme 16 Pro 5G, it comes with a 1.5K resolution AMOLED screen and a refresh rate of 144Hz, with 1.07 billion colours and a staggering peak brightness of 6,500 nits.
On the flip side, the Realme 16 Pro+ 5G takes immersion to the next level in terms of the ultra-slim 1.48mm bezels and 94% screen-to-body ratio. It also supports ultra-high touch sampling rates of 2,500Hz along with 4,608Hz PWM dimming, supporting HDR playback on the Netflix service in the process.
The Realme 16 Pro+ 5G comes powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, which according to Realme is capable of giving a result of around 1.44 million points on the AnTuTu benchmarking platform. This denotes it is one of the most powerful phones within its own particular group. The Realme 16 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Max 5G chipset and comes equipped with the AirFlow vapour cooling chamber.
Both phones come with Android 16 operating systems and Realme UI 7.0, as well as the LPDDR5x RAM technology for smooth multitasking. Realme has emphasised its software update promise, which includes three years of Android updates and four years of security updates. Both phones deliver great value with these updates.
Camera, of course, remains a key area of emphasis for the Realme 16 Pro line. Both of these handsets house a LumaColor Image-tuned triple rear camera system, which is anchored by a staggering 200MP primary sensor. Additionally, Realme 16 Pro+ 5G offers a 50MP periscope telephoto lens that offers a 10x zoom, which will appeal to consumers who value zoom photography.
Both phones come with the ability to film video in 4K, and the Pro+ model takes it to the next level with the facility to film video in 4K HDR at different zoom levels and Dual Focal 4K video recording at 60 frames per second.
Battery Life: The Realme 16 Pro series also has a long-lasting battery life. The Realme 16 Pro 5G and Realme 16 Pro+ 5G come with a huge 7,000mAh Titan Battery, which will provide long-lasting usage even during peak usage activities. This series will be ideal for those who use their devices mainly for prolonged screen time, gaming, listening to music, and watching videos.
With a mix of premium design, class-leading durability, powerful hardware, advanced camera systems, and long-term software support, the Realme 16 Pro series looks very well positioned in India's premium mid-range smartphone market. If Realme can keep pricing competitive at launch, the Realme 16 Pro 5G and Realme 16 Pro+ 5G could end up as some of the most compelling smartphone options of early 2026 for power users and photography enthusiasts alike.
