YouTube Introduces “Edit with AI” to Simplify Shorts Creation for Creators

YouTube is once again outdoing itself in creator tools with the latest introduction: "Edit with AI", a new feature to make video editing faster, smarter, and more efficient. The new update, which is now rolling out to select users, allows creators to take raw footage from their camera roll and turn it into polished Shorts video drafts with the help of AI.

A Smarter Way to Edit Your YouTube Shorts

According to many content creators, the most tedious part of video making is sorting through hours of clips to find the right moments. YouTube's Edit with AI directly addresses this problem: It uses advanced AI technology to scan, identify, and arrange the highlights from your uploaded clips and generates a ready-to-edit draft.

That means creators can forget the time-consuming manual sorting and instead invest that energy into perfecting their story, smoothing transitions, timing with music, and adding their flair that will make their Shorts pop. The AI does the legwork, but the creator still has full control over the final product.

Full Creative Control

While the first edit is handled by YouTube’s AI, creators do have full freedom to customize their content as they would like. Edits can be made to the generated draft: trimming certain parts, changing sequences, applying new effects and transitions, for example.

This way, the final video is authentic to the creator's vision, and hours of manual work are saved. That is in a nutshell what YouTube's Edit with AI is: it promises to enhance creativity, not replace it-offering the best of both worlds: automation and artistic control.

Available on YouTube App and YouTube Create

The Edit with AI feature is being introduced in YouTube's main app, both on Android and iOS, through the Shorts creation tools, and it's also integrated into the YouTube Create app currently available on Android.

Over the next few months, YouTube intends to expand access to more users to include both veteran and new creators looking to try out AI-powered editing for their Shorts and other quick video formats. This is a further major step in YouTube's push to make video creation more accessible to all.

AI Voiceovers and Editing Styles

Beyond auto-editing, YouTube is also introducing AI-powered editing styles. Creators can now select from a variety of styles to give the video a unique tone or aesthetic: cinematic, vlog-like, or energetic.

Standing out among them is the AI voiceover feature, currently available in English and Hindi through the YouTube Create app. It helps creators make voiceovers in the flow and mood of their video without the use of any external audio recording tools. YouTube has also confirmed that this feature will arrive on the native editing tools for Shorts very soon.

Making Shorts creation easier than ever

With over 70 billion Shorts views per day, YouTube still focuses on building tools to make creating short-form videos as smooth a process as possible. The Edit with AI feature perfectly fits into this vision; it lowers the barrier to entry for creators with no access to professional editing suites while still offering flexibility for those with advanced skills.

What This Means for Creators

This isn't just a time-saver but a fundamental change in methodology for creators. By automating repetitive editing tasks, YouTube gives creators more time to focus on creativity, audience engagement, and consistency-three of the most critical factors in growing a successful channel.

Creators who post Shorts frequently will surely find Edit with AI to make all the difference, allowing them to publish content in less time while not compromising on quality or originality.

The new Edit with AI feature from YouTube is a serious jump into the AI-driven creation of content. From auto-selecting the best highlights to generating stylistic drafts and AI voiceovers, this feature brings the professional editing level right to the smartphones of all users. As YouTube continues to expand its AI capabilities across its apps, the future of creating short-form content is looking smarter, faster, and more accessible than ever.
